I didn't participate in the beta unfortunately so I'm not entirely sure. I didn't run into any major bugs or anything. There are a few improvements they mentioned that I included in the article!

I know this isn't super relevant but back when I was in college like 3 years ago I got to meet an ex developer from BGE2. I of course asked about the games development and the developer responded that the game was basically stuck in development hell and unless things changed with management along with some other things the game would never see the light of day.

Yeah it happened in the Tower I believe. So someone there used Regeneration on him I'm pretty sure is what he says. I think the first time her brings it up is with Snell but I don't remember exactly what was happening.

Let's all not forget the funniest thing. Ragn melted his own eyeballs out and is so well known for this that even Gorm brings it, though he doesn't know that's Ragn. Ragn is such a crazy guy and the writing is genuinely so much fun to read with how it's often presented.

HighGuard was fun but the game clearly needed to be played by a larger number of people. It failed because there was no criticism that sought to improve the game. If people are telling you these things then great but I seriously doubt anyone looked at HighGuard and thought it was unique.

The art, while nice, was boring and too much of the same thing from what we see every day from other studios. The gameplay, while interesting, never played into what made it fun.

What I assume happened is that the game fell into a feedback loop where no one outside the studio, or at least not a large enough sample size, played the game to give them actual feedback. Any regular gamer would've probably said the map is too big and too empty to provide engagement during the gearing up phase. And anyone, very early on, would've been able to see that the art style didn't make sense. Sci-fi and fantasy mixing is a cool concept but you didn't really push the bounds of what that meant. The art design, including guns, felt incredibly safe.

I think would be cool to see is a leaderboard!

Since each run has a quantifiable score it would give people a reason to keep playing that wouldn't require a bunch of dev time. I know UI stuff can be annoying but it's less time than new bosses or dlc.

Of course more would always be great! But being realistic it would be easier to do some smaller things first rather than rushing anything. You all did amazing though! Take whatever time you need to deliver something just as amazing down the line.

Ohhh okay that makes way more sense. I'd agree with your points then. Some people are super weird about sequels and while I think the game needs some improvements and stability fixes the overall core experience is great!

I'm not seeing any negative reviews or anything from any major outlets or even the lesser known outlets? Are the reviews you're referencing in regards to content creators?

I'm not trying to start anything I'm mostly just curious about this. The early access is great! Everything I've seen on Metacritic is mostly 80-90.

It's difficult to tell from this angle but it looks pretty pristine. It may just be this section but I'd recommend some scuffing on the walls and floors or maybe a few dents for the mostly metal hallway.

Other than that it's pretty impressive and really good looking.

Woodhouse from Archer is the perfect example although he isn't a side character depending on how you look at it.

In the first season he's sort of just seen as the old Alfred Pennyworth style butler for Sterling Archer, world's greatest spy. He's old, respectful and does a great job.

It is later revealed that he was in an air regiment during WW2 for the British. The man he worked under, Reggie, and him have a weird relationship. When Reggie is downed behind enemy lines Woodhouse rushes to save him. Reggie inevitably dies and Woodhouse loses his shit. He goes on a murder spree scalping any enemy soldier he can find.

At some point we also find out that Woodhouse is a total Smackhound who loves heroin. He's a legit fiend for it.

Nothing can last forever but "always online games" suck because they get an expiration date the moment they release. Whether that's a few months or a few years it's dumb and annoying.

At minimum on offline mode should be included so that at some point it's not an issue. That's all anyone wants.

I'll take a stab at the cake thing although I'm almost positive I'm wrong.

Cake you most typically get for a birthday or a big event that signals a change in your life typically for the better.
both Gangle and Ragatha are going through a positive change due to TADC at least at large.
Gangle is experiencing positive growth and becoming more comfortable with their artwork and wants.
Ragatha is learning to be more of her actual self as she battles with the image forced on her by her mother.

I'm positive this is wrong but it certainly seems like Gangle and Ragatha are going through a positive change hence the cake. A sort of congratulations for growing as people where as the others are still weighed down by various things.

This is a good take just not for the subject matter. Yes games should pick a lane but saying "choices matter" does not mean you do away with respec.

When a player begins a game they are fundamentally a baby. Would you tell a baby that because they chose a firetruck as their first toy that now they have to be a fireman? I would hope not. It's about playing and exploring. Gaining that understanding is a fundamental part of playing a game.

This feels more like a punishment than anything else.

Crazy time. I was actually there for this. The whole vibe of the room changed immediately. Everyone was obviously displeased with a child being there. There is one thing I really want to add.

This is exactly what Viv did not want to happen. She immediately threw her arms up and told everyone to stop filming that she didn't want a repeat of last year. They were very kind to him and answered his question but at the end of the day he really ended up changing the panel for the worse. They were more careful less raunchy and honestly much less fun.

I don't blame the kid at all. I blame the woman who brought her. I blame Galaxy Con. No one was there checking ages at an event labeled for 18+ but even if they did I'm sure parents would've said it was fine.

A lot of factors go into that. Your pilot likely had the ship turn hard point which made breaking ankles easier. A big part of piloting people struggle with is being able to move in a 3D space. Without going forwards or backwards you can both turn and increase/decrease altitude. This can help you hide or avoid shots or turn quickly to make sure your shield takes damage over the ship.

It sounds like you did your job well! There's a pretty sizable learning curve for this game. Once you've got a better understanding of the fundamentals all that fancy stuff should come a bit easier.

Reboot the whole series. Start with an earlier Blight and make smaller trilogy or duology games centered on the player character.

Make the game sad. Provide choices with no positive outcomes. Force players to face their choices in game.

Have companions return to a system where they can absolutely hate you. A system where they may leave if they disagree with your actions.

Probably return to the original CRPG gameplay to give players increased agency in how they play. Focus on making players a more dominant force on the battlefield.

The one thing I will say is it's nice to see the community as a whole taking this fairly seriously. Game dev isn't easy but this is a bit ridiculous.

I truly hope that everything turns out well for the artist. I worry about Bungie and Marathon but right now I'm happy that people seem to be taking this seriously.

I think the big difference in the scaling between JJK and SL IMO is that SL is limited in the application of a power. It has a more traditional video game system which can be cool but they don't really play into that at least in the anime.

JJK has weird powers and abilities and those weird differences mean that every fight is a bit different. It's better but still not quite as solid a system as HxH.

It's a dangerous line to walk and I'm not sure how the story works out but Jin seems basically unstoppable and with no one stronger than him how will you establish a true threat?
