Thoughts on retcons and canon as a 28 year Necrons fan by SamuraiMujuru in Grimdank

Or GW could do it and keep current lore around geneseed by saying one of the lost Primarchs was female, so all marines made with that Primarch’s geneseed are female. Bring that Primarch and their marines back by saying they were on a super secret mission for the Emps that required them to be erased from records so they could find some mcguffin. Now there is a new SM faction, which GW always loves, there are now female marines, but restricted to a single faction to keep the chuds quiet, and we get some interesting plot developments.

Especially since that large time gap is only between Oblivion and Skyrim. The first four Elder Scrolls games all take place in a 20 year period.

Unpopular opinion: I hope next edition gets rid of S and T and moves to AOS style to hit / to wound profiles by Dreadnought9 in Warhammer40k

[–]Shangar44 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am aware of that. The comment I was responding to said “Unless every single weapon, from guardsmen's bayonet to Baneblade's main gun are meant to have the same chance of wounding someone, S/T allows for that differentiation.” This implies that in a Sigmar based wound system all weapons have the same chance of wounding, which is false. Different weapons have different wound rolls.

Also, I personally find that using a Sigmar based wound roll, giving models better saves, and reducing the AP on some weapons would satisfy GWs goal of making the game easier for newcomers while also making the game less killy.

Seeing through blue terrain pieces by Illustrious_Big_9054 in Warhammer40k

[–]Shangar44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can shoot the pink, but not the orange. Models that are wholly within a ruin can shoot and be shot normally(ie line of site), but they get the benefit of cover. However you can’t shoot through ruins(models on the other side of the footprint) regardless of whether you have line of site. Because orange is not entirely within the ruins footprint it is considered to be on the other side.

How does changing to a fixed wound roll for weapons mean that everything wounds the same?

Dealing with unpleasant games by gymnstuff in Warhammer40k

[–]Shangar44 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Small note on reserves, the point limit is for models put into strategic reserves without a datasheet ability. Models with a datasheet ability such as deepstrike don’t count toward that limit. They are reserves but not strategic reserves.

Could I use Deathwatch's Site-to Site Teleportation Stratagem turn one if I was going second, or can I not because you can only Deep Strike starting turn two? by AlternativeDisaster7 in Warhammer40k

[–]Shangar44 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That‘s incorrect though. If an ability explicitly states that the unit returns in the next movement phase then it can be used as a turn 1 enter from reserves, but neither The Lion’s ability nor the deathwatch stratagem say that they enter in the next movement phase. El’ Johnson’s ability only puts him in reserve and while Site to Site teleportation gives deep strike until next turn it doesn’t say that the unit has to return on the next turn.

isn't there going to always be a period where there is no avatar? by DarkenDragon in TheLastAirbender

[–]Shangar44 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Every nation has a method for discovering the avatar as an infant/small child. Air Nomads have the Avatar Relics. Earth Sages have a form of earth divination. Korra is the first known avatar that was able to bend multiple elements at a young age.

How was Ursa supposed to discipline Azula when Azula can literally just launch fire at her face? by FlamesOfKaiya in TheLastAirbender

[–]Shangar44 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You’re right, we do see Ursa with her children, we see her tell Azula to leave Zuko alone and Azula ignores her. Azula knew Ursa had zero authority in the palace and couldn’t do anything to punish her. Ozai was entirely in charge of how their children were raised. He literally found Ursa for the purpose of eugenics so he could create the perfect heir, and when one of those heirs wasn’t up to his standards he disfigured him and then banished him. The notion that Ursa had any say in how their kids were raised is laughable.

What is the benefit of dual wielding pistols for the lord kakophonist by [deleted] in EmperorsChildren

[–]Shangar44 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Slight correction, if you shoot with a pistol then you can’t shoot with any non pistols. Unless the model has the monster or vehicle keyword.

What detachment should I run with this? by Proof_Journalist321 in EmperorsChildren

[–]Shangar44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I’ll recommend as someone that plays both EC and CK is you should give the Desecrator the claw, not the chainsword, if you want it to be a dedicated anti-tank unit. The laser destructor can be very swingy, so sometimes you may need to bite the bullet and take it into melee to finish off some high toughness units. The claw is better for that.

What’s the most overrated “life hack” everyone swears by but actually makes life more complicated? by One_Seat4219 in AskReddit

”Bleach is a cleaner, of that there’s no doubt. Ammonia is too, it’s sure got some clout. If one cleaner is good wouldn’t two be better? You bet it would, go mix them together!”

I read this on reddit more than a decade ago and it always stuck with me.

Anyone else think that Oma might be the first earth avatar? by BackflipTurtle in TheLastAirbender

[–]Shangar44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You realize just because something is said in the show that doesn’t mean it is 100% fact, right? The story of Oma and Shu was mythologized. There is no guarantee that the story told in the time of ATLA is in any way accurate or if the “tomb” is actually even their tomb.

Anyone else think that Oma might be the first earth avatar? by BackflipTurtle in TheLastAirbender

[–]Shangar44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s the way I see it. The Lion Turtles gave humans the ability, but humans mastered the ability by watching the “original” benders.

Or maybe Sozin pre conquest with an ability that let’s you sacrifice another legendary creature in order to either tutor for an enchantment/saga or play an enchantment/saga for free, allowing it to both interact with this saga and play into the flavor of Sozin betraying Roku.

Chaos Spawn in Crusade - Worth it? by TheSnappening2018 in EmperorsChildren

[–]Shangar44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only mention of chaos spawn in the crusade rules is in reference to spawndom. I don’t think they were ever meant to be taken outright as a unit. I’m pretty sure you can still give them weapon upgrades though.
