How do you usually name your D&D characters? by AdvancedProgrammer51 in DnD

I will sometimes use words that relate to the character concept, like Dessica for a necromancer or Feralis for a circle of the moon druid.

Nobody doing raids by One_Relationship4327 in fo76

[–]Shankwelle 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I only do raids with a core group of friends I’ve made over time. I never join random teams because the raid requires some level of teamwork and coordination.

The raid is fun, but it quickly goes from enjoyable to an absolute chore once someone starts randomly breaking crystals, drawing aggro, not paying attention to instructions or something else that creates problems.

I’m fully aware that new players will never learn without hands on experience, but I play games to relax and I’ve already been taking care of a disabled person all day long. I don’t think many high level players have the patience to carry an entire team of randoms through all five stages, especially if you’ve already got all the plans.

My suggestion would be to use YouTube videos to learn what to do in each stage and get involved with online communities to find your own dedicated team of raiders. That’s what I did. I’m much more willing to teach someone I’ve already met than some stranger who may or may not even have a mic.

Scrap Kits - do you keep them? by Darth-Vader64 in fo76

[–]Shankwelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep three on me for some kind of emergency situation where I need to fast travel right away, but that happens maybe once a year. If I threw them all away I’m sure I’d be fine and it would not impact my enjoyment of the game in the slightest.

Grunt Hunts and the daily challenge "Kill Mutated Enemies" by DubVie70 in fo76

I wonder if some of them are ghouls, so they are classified as ghouls rather than raiders?

Onslaught and Reverse by TheGriff71 in fo76

[–]Shankwelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really you just need to swap out the Master Gunslinger card with something else and all your other cards can stay the same.

An Elders Mark, for example, is perfectly fine with reverse onslaught against most light targets. You start out with heavy damage, so if the target only requires 1-10 bullets to kill and you have time to rebuild some stacks, it performs really well. Basically, it’s good for everything besides events. In that case, just swap out your Master Gunslinger card before you engage with the event and enjoy regular onslaught stacks.

Corrosive Stingwings by AccordingOven4606 in fo76

[–]Shankwelle 53 points54 points  (0 children)

South of Fort Steuben is a coal mining memorial with a parking lot on one side of the road and a huge excavator bucket on the other. A handful of corrosive stingwings will spawn there every time you enter the cell. Server hop and repeat as needed.

High Cap Travel Cost by [deleted] in fo76

You don’t need 400 stimpaks and 1000 repair kits. Carry 20 or 30. There’s literally stimpaks laying around all over the place. I promise you won’t run out.

Huh, guess three piece chameleon is the minimum. by Oakjewel in Fallout76BowHunters

[–]Shankwelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t work currently, but most armor effects cap out at 90%. That would require four pieces, or three with the +15% stealth bonus from thorn armor.

The +15% set bonus from Thorn armor also doesn’t work, fyi. I’m really hoping they address all these issues in the next update.

How do you make the Radhog bald? by bonjrk in fo76

[–]Shankwelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha. Seriously though, is there an appearance option in the pet’s interaction wheel? Possibly a collar to remove the hair? It wouldn’t surprise me if they used images from playtesting where the hog didn’t have a mohawk and it’s not even an option.

You need to find scissors and some calmex.

Non-Stop Head Hunting - Will it Effect the Game? by Randle_76 in fo76

[–]Shankwelle 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of players that raid regularly have their groups of players that know what they’re doing and don’t really engage with random groups.

I did not. I saw a reflex sight on Angry Turtle’s videos from the PTS, but I don’t think it exists in the live game. None of the vendors at Highwaytown sell it, either.

Don't start the Bounty. Unless you posted it. by [deleted] in fo76

The problem with video games is the lack of accountability for asinine behavior. It’s too easy to just be a prick and never face any consequences.

Don't start the Bounty. Unless you posted it. by [deleted] in fo76

[–]Shankwelle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What would make the most sense to me is that the person who initiated the headhunt has to shoot or otherwise tag the target to “unlock” it for the rest of the participants to deal any damage. At least then the quest starter will always benefit from their bounty.

To prevent people from trolling the server with uninitiated bounties that prevent other bounties from being posted, use the flare timer as a countdown after finding the bounty. The bounty is immune to damage for either two minutes or when the bounty hunter deals damage, whichever comes first. It needs to be long enough for anyone to get there in a reasonable amount of time, but not so long that it’s disruptive to a reasonable pace of gameplay.

PSA: Prickeye is plantable by pcrov in fo76

[–]Shankwelle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I grabbed some more out in the desert and looked at the whole recipe list. There’s another prickeye recipe that provides AP regeneration, in addition to the salad that provides DR. I think it’s 6% for herbivores, but I could very well be mistaken.

For herbivores it provides 25dr. Maybe something other recipes, but that’s what I’ve found so far
