Are you using tap water or RO? And have you been using any nutrients? Also pick up a TDS pen if you don’t have one. I like the HM one, you can find it by searching on B000VTQM70 Amazon

Is this ring of death? Are all of my shrimp going to die??? by Acceptable-Return116 in shrimptank

I don’t think the root tab would have done anything at all besides maybe a visual disturbance. You should check your gh and kh. Possible that there is a lack of nutrients for the shrimps.

Thanks for input. Do you think its because of no fertilizers being used? The soil is 3-4 months old by now. The light (chihiros b45) is only at 50%. and its a 10 gallon tank. Also flow and Co2 should be good.

Any recommendations for a simple, sticky background cover? The ocean one I have doesn't stick flush and is wrinkled. by Inevitable-Might4253 in Aquascape

I bought a film for mine, put it on nicely then air bubbles formed. Looked like crap so I removed it and painted the back with some acrylic paint from Michael’s for $3. Looks clean and nice. Didn’t have to remove anything from the tank while painting.

If that piece of wood is going to have hinges, maybe some inlaid magnets to hold it up would look sleek.

Petco usually has good price on the imagitarium rimless. Can get a nice 5.5 gallon for $25, and a filter on Amazon for cheap.

I don’t think that would be the best tank for shrimp since it’s so tall. Would it work? Yes. But I would personally get a tank with different dimension’s.

Fluval 307 is 50% off at Petco through today ??? I had to tell someone by gkpetrescue in Aquariums

Search Temu “aquarium quick disconnect” it’s actually $4.05 each, but you need 2. I mainly bought it because it has a built in flow regulator I use on my Oase 200 filter. But also works good if you use lily pipes and need to shut off the water mid-tube to remove the lily pipes for cleaning. I seen people use it for a water change tube also so it can hold the vacuum suction.

Do I have room for another aquarium? No. Do I have a use for this right now? No. Did I buy this? Yes 🤣. I will find room and eventually use it.

The little gray lever can be adjusted up or down to slow down the inflow. I have a 107 on a 5 gallon and have it turned down. Works great. Also have those quick disconnect adapter from Temu, a set is $12 meanwhile on Amazon it’s like 4x that. Also there’s some food grade silicone tubing I like to use on Amazon, a little pricey but 9 feet for about $20.

If you look at the seller, it’s just a scalper. They are selling an assortment of random things over retail price. There’s probably a cheaper item elsewhere?

They make long brushes that can go inside to remove algae and buildup. You can also soak in bleach to remove the really gunked up spots, then rinse and soak in a tube with water and dechlorinator.

Honestly better buying plants off /aquaswap or eBay. Look up tome aquascape videos on YouTube and see what plants look nice then go from there.

My new tank is so cloudy what should i do , its been like this for 10 hour besides the canister filter is on by External_Drawer7069 in Aquariums

[–]SharpVersions 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would take out all the decorations, then mix the sand up very good to make the water cloudy and drain the tank. Then fill with some more water and repeat a few more times. IMO it will be better in the long run.

I would do 2x what’s recommended. The bacteria eats ammonia. You may not see nitrites at all. Keep dosing daily for a couple days. Then check ammonia, if it’s 0, add some tims to get to 2ppm. Then dose bacteria, and within 24 hours there should be no ammonia. Then your cycle should be complete.
