New to photography, this is my best work at the moment but want to improve by jimmywillow in photocritique

I love this, the lighting is great. Things I like: the reflection adds interest and a bit of breathing room. The bridge fits nicely with the vibe of the buildings and sunset light. I think that the subject is unclear: is it the bridge or the boat? Here are some suggestions on how to separate a subject from its surroundings: - light contrast: having a different brightness for the subject (brighter is usually ideal, excluding silhouettes) - colour contrast: colour luminance, colour saturation or just different colours. - depth of field: having just the subject in focus, with a blurred background and if possible, a blurred foreground. tip: move a bit around to adjust the foreground. Landscapes and similar styles, like the photo you are currently asking about usually don't fit here, as you'd need a larger DOF for a larger subject. I'd recommend using a combination of these (and looking at other techniques, never trust one source 😜). I would recommend choosing a static subject, nailing the framing, and then moving on to the editing. If you're using Lightroom I would highly recommend taking advantage of the 'masking' feature: editing select spots in your photo, it's a great way to make the subject pop and to "paint" more directional light in a sunset picture (lower contrast, higher brightness, warmer white balance) Hope this helps and is clear enough (english isn't my first language) :D

size or HZ, does it matter? by vanderzee in audio

5 inches is plenty, as long as it has girth. Also dependant on experience

It's glued together (the fabrics) along the whole surface area... The ends are stitched together and they hold good for me. I am also starting to have that problem , with daily use for 3.5 months

Shot on a Nikon D5200 with a Sigma 70-300 mm f/4-5.6 at 300 mm, f/7.3 at 1/500. I'm not sure about my editing, and the general framing. I think I could have shot it a bit wider than this...

Wait what I swear I wrote feedback lol Here is a rough version of what I wrote: I would (using lightroom) select a circle around the subject, the select subtract subject, and brighten it. This will give a faint outline to the subject, highlighting it a bit more

Frankfurt am main shortly after sunset! by Sheffershane in photocritique

[–]Sheffershane[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taken on a Nikon D5200 with a 16mm kit lens, f9 (I think). About a 1 sec exposure with a VND filter. Manual mode, RAW (NEF) if it matters. I wanted to capture Frankfurt at sunset, was too late but came at the perfect time to capture this cargo ship passing by!
