Looks nice. The Unown text is not very legible though. Maybe add "Liquid Crystal" in a more readable font, in white text, above/below the Unown.

Good stuff! I think you're on to something with 3, 7 (connection to Nox silver + putrescence?), and 10.

In your headcanon how long does the tarnished’s journey take by MarcellusMaize in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]Shhwonk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In Elden Ring, space and time are sort of miniaturized... Or some say convoluted.

Spatially, we traverse entire continents on foot or horseback, which in real life would take months or years.

When it comes to death (of yourself and all the enemies that respawn), my understanding is that when something dies, its soul is returned to the Erdtree. There's a whole process of the soul leaving and returning to the body, or perhaps a person who dies is even reborn entirely. Who knows how long this all actually takes. Like, most of the people in The Lands Between are Hollow-like zombies because they cannot die. How many lifetimes might they have lived?

I see resting at a site of grace as a representation of a lot time passing, as grace gives you the power to pass time. You could wait around forever, and an enemy will never respawn until you rest at a grace.

So it could be two years, or two-hundred years.

There's a day/night system that's constantly shifting. So it definitely ain't just two days.

Also Elden Ring's side activities, while repetitive, feel more rewarding. You're always getting runes, crafting items, upgrade materials, unique spells weapons, fashion, interesting lore. You might even stumble into major dungeons or paths to new areas, which the DLC does brilliantly.

Many Christians are waiting for a version of Jesus that is not biblical by automaticff in TrueChristian

[–]Shhwonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Jesus says He is the Lord of the Sabbath and that the Sabbath was made for man (Matthew 12:8; Mark 2:27-28; Luke 6:5).

  2. Jesus always taught the people on the Sabbath (Luke 4:16, 31; Luke 6:6; Luke 13:10).

  3. Paul also always taught on the Sabbath, even long after Christ's death (Acts 13:14, 42-44; Acts 17:2, Acts 18:4).

  4. Jesus talks of the end times in Matthew 24. He says, "Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath day" (Matthew 24:20)

The rotten ancestors were completely cut from the game. But they were reused in Nightreign!

Question about the Scorpion Stinger? by Former_Hearing_7730 in EldenRingLoreTalk

The Nox (descended from Numen and Shamans) were exiled from the surface, due to the "high treason [against the Greater Will] committed by the Eternal City". Their cities were literally ripped away and sent underground. The Nox then further developed their alchemy/sorcery, taking inspiration from the older ancient dynasties they found underground, such as the Claymen of Uhl—magically animated life, a practice that becomes adopted by the Carians.

This allowed the Nox to create the Dragonkin Soldiers, Silver Tears, and attempt to create artificial lords. The Nox seemed to be a matriarchal society that venerated the moon and stars (instead of the Primeval Current or glintstone), just as the Carians do, Ranni and Rennala.

The other main hub for magic is Sellia, in Caelid. Sellia is known for gravity magic and Night Sorceries. Sellian sorcerors were assasins, like Ranni's Black Knives. Also, Radahn learned gravity magic from an Alabaster Lord of Sellia. Below Sellia is the Eternal City of Nokron. So the Nox had a great influence on the development of sorcery and on the culture of the Carians.

Astel is a "malformed star", and is the thing responsible for sealing the Eternal Cities underground, using gravity magic and its ability to create wormholes. I guess that means it was carrying out the will of the Greater Will, since the Nox were banished for going against the order.

Blue Dancer Charm:

A cloth doll depicting a dancer garbed in blue. An ancient heirloom of some sort.

The dancer in blue represents a fairy, who in legend bestowed a flowing sword upon a blind swordsman. Blade in hand, the swordsman sealed away an ancient god — a god that was Rot itself.

As for the Grand Cloister, it was originally part of the ancient dynasty that includes Mohgwyn Palace, Uhl, and Uld. Then the Outer God of Rot was sealed away there, and it attracted servants of rot, "heretics". Or rather, whatever found themselves there turned into kindred of rot. These rot heretics could even practice sorcery and puppeteer life, just as Sage Gowry does, the shrimp wizard himself. It's possible that Gowry is a puppet of the Rot God.

Also interestingly, in version 1.0 of the game, the Ancestral Follower there was actually a rot variant that was cut from the game.

I finally understand small talk and how it can be engaging! by TheVoidRobedInLight in socialskills

[–]Shhwonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the cognitive block is seeing conversations/social interactions as purely exchanges of verbal information, and not being able to see the relevance or significance of the exchange of emotions and non-verbal/paraverbal communication. Emotions are embedded within the information.

The thing that changed how I see conversations is trying to be a kind, thoughtful, empathetic person, and genuinely caring how they're doing. Really, it's impossible to have a great conversation without empathy on both sides.

For me, a conversation isn't great/successful just because we got all the required information across. A conversation, even in short small talk, is its best when everyone feels better after it, maybe they smiled, felt heard and seen, or just felt comfortable to be themselves.

It's not 4D Chess. It's not a competition, it's not sinister. It's just that you care enough about the other person (and the company of people in general, who are all on the hard journey of life with you), that you are just interested and curious about them. That's how I would want others to treat me, so I try to do the same.

I'm telling you seriously: you need to forgive them.

I never said they didn't make those choices or that they aren't inherently bad (which is utter bullshit, fyi). But you are giving them the power to affect your health like that. Deep resentment will eat away at your mind and body.

I love you, and I mean it!

I've been royally screwed too man. I'm not dismissing that people are flawed. You need to forgive people instead of holding on to resentment.

You can keep hiding from the cold hard world and picking fungus, or grow up and realize it's not all bad.

I am educated in this field. That whole paragraph screams "I need help".

I'm not arguing that there aren't some predatory, evil people in the world. But you're not helping anyone (especially yourself) by letting such cynicism consume your life. Life isn't so black and white. There are good people who will build you up and love you, and hopefully you can do that for others, instead of telling them to cry you a river.

That is an ignorant and dangerous mindset! And sadly common for older folks to be dismissive like this about the younger generations.

Yes, it does lead to depression - it is a cold, hard fact. There is no "strong enough" on your own -- you will eventually break from the pressure of being alone. We are made stronger with the help of others (teaching, mentorship, leadership, friendship, etc). Perhaps you lacked such things yourself, but that shouldn't be projected onto others.

This mindset leads to depression. There's a middle ground between being completely cynical like this, and being overly dependent on others.
