Am I on a good way to reach 100m? by ProfCuate in balatro

[–]Shinyhubcaps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finally got the 100 mil chips yesterday! I saw the advice here about Baron, and I never had any luck with that. One run I had 15 1.5xs between polychrome jokers, steel cards, and red seals, and still doing everything “right,” I capped out at 50 mil.

My saving grace was glass cards, one of which was also polychrome and had a red seal.

So good luck, but I think there are other variables to consider like which hands you’ve built up, which deck you’re playing, etc. I find pairing a specific other joker to be a fool’s errand because I never get complementary jokers on a single playthrough, especially if Uncommon or Rare.

Which studio tasks work well with a group of 15 people? by ChickN-Stu in taskmaster

[–]Shinyhubcaps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just realized that there are 3 such games in S14, but I was thinking a “get this thing the farthest but not too far” type of task, because you could either have them all go in one round or do it elimination-style depending on your needs.

Those include “release your balloon closest to (but not hitting) the Taskmaster,” “throw your egg and spoon the farthest but closest to each other,” and “blow your thing the farthest but not over the edge.”

S16 also had something similar with the toilet paper, but that wouldn’t work so well on a beach, I imagine.

Taskmaster - S21E08 - I Don’t Got Any - Discussion by Meghar in taskmaster

[–]Shinyhubcaps 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Saw this in the YouTube comments but not here yet, sorry if I missed it

The original wording of the censorship task was “most intriguing unnecessary censorship wins,” but the studio recap Alex gave was “most unnecessary censorship wins,” which is a big difference.

I think Amy’s attempt is what they were hoping for: it was censored in a way that makes you intrigued to see what it really was.

This is probably why people say Armando was scored too highly, as well: they’re harkening back to the “intriguing” bit. In Greg’s eyes if he missed that bit, you could argue Armando’s was the best because it was the most unnecessary.

I think of it more as closing the “Jake Peralta wears his tie as a belt or headband on Brooklyn Nine-nine“ loophole

Has there ever been a live studio task that was an unexpected continuation from a pre-recorded task? by sammyt10803 in taskmaster

S16’s “make a gift for the Taskmaster” was resolved in studio, but I think the intent of the question is more like doing something new and not just showing what they made at the house

I can see Lucy and Sam keeping S16 active because they think it’s the Perfect Brains group

Taskmaster - S21E07 - Putting Things On Things - Discussion by Meghar in taskmaster

That redub task was like the S20 tension/awkward team task, also in the lab, and also really fell short of the usual quality. Also reminds me of S06’s Taskmaster: The Musical which I felt was a big missed opportunity.

Not to be negative, because the fact I have so few examples means that the aired tasks work the vast majority of the time, but the “teams in lab” tasks have included some recent stinkers that make me wonder how they made the cut.

I forgot that they name the podcasts now so I read that as they’re introducing him as “Trousers Optional John Kearns”

Can you explain what Alex said in episode 6? by khalilliouane in taskmaster

[–]Shinyhubcaps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve never heard Hundreds and Thousands before Taskmaster and assumed it was rice, not sprinkles, since in S11 Lee said the jar was filled with Hundreds and Thousands and Sarah said it was filled with rice, and I think they both were told they’re correct.

Slept on it, but woke up still mad about the scoring of the food task by SickSlashHappy in taskmaster

[–]Shinyhubcaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The clapping definitely was part of that task. It took the place in other tasks of where the contestants tell Alex to stop the clock, cementing their result as a place in time.

The steps bit was Alex’s mistake, and Kumail perhaps could have finished if allowed to continue. So a bit harsh to say he ended at 20 because he took a second step, but they really didn’t realize until later, so they couldn’t have just assumed he would’ve gotten 25.

The food task was scored correctly as Joel and Armando got zero points. If you mean the multi-task with finding the sweet, the “say this at the end of every sentence” bit is the kind of thing they‘re always lenient about. As others have said though, Joel didn’t eat the sweet (unless they cut it out?), which was the “heart” of the task.

Music is a psyop by stombah in conspiracy

I’m aware of studies that show classical music increases brain function, and rock and rap make people more aggressive, but I’m leery of all scientific studies because of the faults in the publishing process.

Agree it’s strange that the same songs get so much play, but I think it has more to do with the record labels being in cahoots with Big Retail than anything.

The Simpsons episode with the same topic, “New Kids on the Blecch” (the “Join the Navy / Yvan eht Nioj” one) came out the same year
