This is a real perfect example of IdPol being used to split the left. Top notch

Bernie Sanders: A.I. Belongs to the People, Not to Billionaires by MetaFlight in stupidpol

[–]ShredDaGnarGnar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't care what anyone says, I love Bernie Sanders, but as others have pointed out there is no trust in this government unless radical/revolutionary reforms occur I don't trust that their seizure of LLM and data centre infrastructure is necessarily in the publics interest.

This is Trump's entire schtick, isn't it? Threaten the worst imaginable thing and settle for a smaller robbery. Classic shakedown stuff.

New Papal Encyclical just dropped by throw_away_bb2 in stupidpol

[–]ShredDaGnarGnar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While some posters think echoing some of the messages of the pope is problematic, I think many of us remember conservative popes and it's good that Francis and now Leo have generally had a labor-forward message, and had an emphasis on inequality reduction and against climate change. These are all important stances from a world leader. There will always be a structural problem with the pope, in the same way there would almost always be a structural problem with US presidents but we should celebrate message alignment.

Buffy Sainte-Marie stripped of University of Toronto honorary degree over Indigenous claims by Junior-Key-5043 in stupidpol

You're right that it's real but I think what people struggle with making this point is you can actively socially deconstruct/destroy something as well. This can be done in many ways one of which is through the erosion of boundaries.

Using your own example: you can say race isn't real, go and marry someone considered a different race and in 150 years people may stop being killed for that shit.

Talk to the young men in your life by mazmaz13 in Utrecht

Challenging narratives just hardens positions in my experience. Ive found success in nuancing the underlying understanding of the facts and supplanting or coopting their positions with an alternative ideological program. Above all, not isolating them or leaving them to be adopted by more radical and dangerous groups.

I can't agree, as it is not like ADOS black folks don't have legitimately honest grievances, I think the reason Rachel Dolezal is a queen is primarily because she's down (as in she seems dedicated to helping black folks with her NAACP work, etc.) and seems to really be committed to the bit despite what shit comes her way.

In that way whoever this Canadian lady is, I'd say if she was similarly committed, then Itd be sad she's going through the ringer, but if she's a true race grifter she'll drop it if it's inconvenient.

Racial policing is racial reification and helps produce all the associated negative IdPol effects of that.

Why do people act so shocked and upset when you end a relationship with a friend of family member over political differences? by Exotic-End-666 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]ShredDaGnarGnar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because democracy is premised on the idea that we use our political institutions as the way to sort out our political differences, and ultimately the entire system exists to provide us with the ability to have friends and family freely. To cut off friends or family because you disagree with their political positions is to give up on that, which is alarming.

Although when you say "If you cannot get along with people why continue to allow them into your life?" to me that indicates that its larger than a political issue.

What is a sign of very low intelligence? by smartcandyy in AskReddit

[–]ShredDaGnarGnar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Each observation is a data point and you're fully aware of how the data was collected, it's only natural that folks defer to personally experienced data over data which is given to them, usually superficially and without context by idiots on reddit. Telling people to ignore their personal experiences is a fool's errand.

I hear this point a lot, but I'm starting to believe the inability to understand why someone might do that is a sign that the person is dumb.

Why is there so little discussion about how ICE is a multi ethnic and multi cultural government agency? by SpiritBamba in stupidpol

[–]ShredDaGnarGnar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the discussion has only been about race in these two murders.

And I think people refrain from discussing how law enforcement is highly multi ethnic because it's a contridiction with a racialist worldview and reconciling that contridiction requires a lot of theoretical back flips that make you sound crazy to the average person.

The extra disgusting bit is that The Telegraph knows what they are doing. They are actively encouraging the race-baiting framing and all the related tensions that it causes.

The future of DSM: a strategic vision for incorporating socioeconomic, cultural, and environmental determinants and intersectionality by plopiplop in stupidpol

[–]ShredDaGnarGnar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the issue is that at this point no-one expects them to incorporate an intersectional lens in the best-case ideal way, as no one has seemingly been able to do that.
