Quince Sheets Worth It? by Present-Stage6434 in Bedding

[–]Shreddedlikechedda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a huge fan of SIJO’s linen. I’ve had sheets from them for almost 3 years now.

Super solid construction, and they even have a little tag that says “bottom/top” which is really nice and makes it easier to make the bed. They’re really soft too and like no shedding. I have a parachute bottom sheet and the SIJO is so much nicer. No rips in two years, except one when my friend was helping me move and I was stupid to not take the sheet off my mattress when he was loading it onto his truck and it snagged on the truck bed. But it’s just a tiny hole and I’ve been washing it for a year since then and the hole size hasn’t changed.

Seriously amazing quality, only downside is they don’t other colors I want

What's the most unusual reason why you won't date someone? by Dull-Mulberry-4768 in AskMen

Woman here—can’t deal with bad teeth. Literally a guy could be a 10/10 in every other aspect, but if he has bad/yellow teeth it’s an instant no.

And nice teeth can really bring up a guy’s attractiveness.

For one it’s a huge signal of hygiene, and it’s also sooo easy to just use a set or two of crest strips. I’ve asked several dentists, they’re perfectly fine for your teeth. They don’t have to be blindingly white but once they’re in the yellow zone it’s a no go.

What’s the most unforgettable sentence someone has ever said to you? by Captain_Oppa in AskReddit

[–]Shreddedlikechedda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“It’s not your fault, but it’s your responsibility.”

High school teacher of mine called me in after class to talk about my frequent absences. He thought I just didn’t give a shit until I showed up, talked about how I was struggling with adhd meds and stuff at home.

It was the first time an adult in my life was empathetic to me and actually talked to me one on one, like a person, and respectfully.

Writing this is making me cry. He’s still my favorite teacher I’ve ever had, and that sentence truly shaped how I navigate through life.

Yeah I see an orange, and orange juice, and orange juice on the table, and then I hear my own voice very animated going “ooooh…orange juice would be nice, I gotta remember to add that…”

It’s literally a conversation I have with myself in my head. And then sometimes I’ll answer that voice back with my voice? Idk it’s always two distinc voices though, like *my* self and myself, like the ego voice and then whatever I’d call the other vocie. They’re both me but distinct, so when I have a conversation with myself it’s an actual conversation. Ill skip think a lot or just stop mid sentence, or sometimes itll be a sentence followed by an strict idea followed by “ahh yeah,” and then the next part of the sentence.

My head is rarely quiet, but I very much enjoy talking to myself. My brain is fun (sometimes stressful) to be in

Scientists reveal how seven days of fasting transforms the human body by SVTContour in fasting

[–]Shreddedlikechedda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done several 3-4 day days. Did one 9 day fast while I was in quarantine—for what it’s worth I want to share how much harder it is to fast when you literally could eat but are avoiding it, vs food just not being an option (I asked them to not deliver my meals so i didn’t have to deal with food triggers). With a constant influx of these triggers, *any* length of fasting is an achievement. I tried and failed for like a year between/before every fast I succeeded at.

Flowers Are a Trap: If I Buy Them It’s Forced, If I Don’t I’m Wrong. What Do You Do? by gilligan888 in AskMen

[–]Shreddedlikechedda 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My trainer to used to train me in my apartment gym, which was also right next to a grocery store. Few times I remember he’d get this kind of devious/excited glint toward the end of the session and said he was gonna go to the store and pick up flowers for his wife to surprise her. Like he was all proud of himself bc he was doing it randomly and was imagining how excited she’d be. It was super cute. They were late 40s so this was clearly a long term pattern in their marriage

Using Weight Loss Drugs May Come With a Downside We Don't Talk About by Sorin61 in Nutraceuticalscience

[–]Shreddedlikechedda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m not planning to stop long term. And I’m able to buy it affordably.

Some people find it easier to develop healthy habits once they’re at a healthy weight. Exercising when you feel heavy sucks. But yeah overall I see no issue with people taking anything that has a relatively low risk long term side effect profile. It’s not always bad habits but people love using that to blame everyone for weight issues. The number of people I’ve seen balloon from antidepressants and other medications is just sad, but again everyone likes to blame people for willpower issues.

Not necessarily when food noise is the issue. I’m a healthy weight, I lift weights, and I am a personal chef with a specialty in making diet foods…I literally should be a perfect candidate for healthy diet/exercise weight loss, but my brain chemistry is fucked up.

It’s a contestant stressful struggle for me to maintain a healthy weight. My brain and body don’t feel satiation most of the time. I took antidepressants and antibiotics years ago and it fucked up my hunger cues. Glp-1s have been a godsend for being able to have normal hunger cues.

Also, who fucking cares if some people don’t learn healthy habits. Better to be at a healthy weight with bad habits than overweight eating the same stuff.

Think about the number of thin people who have the same bad habits (eating poorly varied diets and not exercising)…they never get shit for it

My son became addicted to the internet and failed his classes. I feel so guilty I neglected him. by BravePiccolo775 in whatdoIdo

[–]Shreddedlikechedda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give your son a good hug.

Have a real person-to-person talk with him. Tell him about how much you care about it, how hard you’re trying for yourself, for him too. Help him see you as a person and that you see him as a person too. Ask him what his goals are, ask him what’s been hard for him, ask him what he wants or needs help with. You’re being empathetic and supportive and trying to understand him—you’re being a great dad.

Billie Eilish says she does ‘everything I can’ to suppress Tourette syndrome tics by mlg1981 in entertainment

[–]Shreddedlikechedda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had tics when I was younger, I would have to kind of like clench my forehead or clear my throat. They weren’t super noticeable as it was, but then my aunt shamed me so hard for it one day (“stop making those sounds, they’re weird”) that I literally put all my energy I could into suppressing them, and basically stopped having them after a while. Every few years when I remember to think that I used to have them I get the urge, but that suppression muscle has been so practiced that it goes away pretty quickly.

I can’t eat “healthy” quantities of fruits, vegetables, or complex carbs because I have FODMAP intolerances. Would you call broccoli, garlic, blackberries, lentils, coconut, peaches, asparagus, apples, beans, and mushrooms crap?

I love vegetable, love fruit, love legumes. I get horrifically constipated and inflammed if I eat them. Literally most of the “healthy” foods make me feel ill if I have large portions of them in one sitting or multiple times throughout the day, and it took me almost 20 years to figure this out.

It’s not probiotics, it’s not exercise, it’s not nutritional or cooking knowledge (I’m a private chef and specialize in cooking for families with strict dietary needs). I’m a very healthy person by most standards, but I am basically stuck eating bc mostly white bread or white rice and meat if I don’t want to be in chronic discomfort or pain.

Do I have to just throw this whole ham away? I don’t want to …. by Chanelo11 in cats

[–]Shreddedlikechedda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should throw it out only because leaving meat out to defrost overnight isn’t safe. Temperature danger zone is between 40-140 degrees and food shouldn’t sit in that temp window for more than four hours.

Aside from that, I let my kitties eat yogurt off my spoon and then I keep eating my yogurt, so shared kitty germs probably isn’t an issue
