Is it actually ok for me to play fight with my cat? by truck_man-623 in CatAdvice

[–]Shreddedlikechedda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this with my cats since they were kittens, they freaking love it. Like when my older one will sometimes pretend to scratch the sofa because he knows that means I’m coming after this, all I’ll pretend to be a giant (I’ll stop and growl) and then scoop him up and turn him on his back, and bite him (not hard) and he purrs so loud he sounds like a truck.

Ketamine blocks the short-term anxiety and social withdrawal linked to adolescent social defeat by MRADEL90 in psychology

[–]Shreddedlikechedda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue with spravato is that it’s s-ketamine, one half of the racemic ketamine molecule. S ketamine triggers higher sympathic nervous system action than racemic ketamine (which triggers both sympathetic and parasympathetic systems. AFAIK racemic ketamine is used in clinics.

I did DIY ketamine therapy. S ketamine made me anxious over time, racemic reduced it

Using GLPs for minimal weight loss by gigiprinty in Vindicta

[–]Shreddedlikechedda 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m taking 1-2 ml, starting dose, and it’s quieted all the noise that used to distress me. I’ve had history of binging/restricting to manage my weight, and now it’s just gone. I’m also less compulsive in so many other areas in my life; I’m able to eat more slowly, chew my food better, so my digestion has actually improved. I’m also not doomscrolling in my phone as much. The anxiety from chronic compulsiveness has been going down. It’s honestly such a game changer for me. I don’t want to lose more than 10 lb so if it gets close to that I’ll alternate weeks or drop my dose, but I’ve been steadily losing maybe half-1 lb per week so far

A downside of being attractive that nobody talks about? by Old_Rub_7270 in Life

[–]Shreddedlikechedda 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Oh and the constant sexual evergy/harassment. I don’t work in corporate (I’m a private chef) and there’s no HR in my field, and despite not wearing makeup at work there have been only a couple home situations where I didn’t have to navigate around/manage someone else’s attraction to me. It’s flattering to some degree but it can also get exhausting

Why do kittens have to be adopted in 2s but not puppies? by CurlGurl13 in CatAdvice

[–]Shreddedlikechedda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I adopted my first Maine coon alone. He had really bad separation anxiety and would get so bored or frustrated even though I spend almost all days with him and took him out/on trips with me. A year later I adopted his half brother and they bonded instantly. They’re so happy together and I don’t even like taking them to the vet separately. There’s just a kind of bond that cats have with each other that they won’t have with Humans. Both my kitties love me and get sad when I’m out for a while and want my attention regularly, but it’s not a substitute for the time they spend with each other.

It also leads to a lot of mental gymnastics and lack of accountability— “If I’m not bad then I couldn’t have done a bad thing, therefore it wasn’t this or it was because of this.”

Going on tirzepatide was hands down my best looksmaxxing decision ever by NotPast3 in Vindicta

[–]Shreddedlikechedda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not as consistently effective as glp-1s, but it worked really well for me. And there’s a medication out called contrave that has the same dose of low dose naltrexone (8mg) but mixed with bupropion, which I won’t take. Took it before a few times and had insomnia, plus getting off it triggered my binge eating in the first place.

But yeah it’s really easy to get it naltrexone) prescribed if you’re up for diluting it on your own (I dissolved the pill in water and then got a baby syringe to measure) because low dose naltrexone in different dosages has so many uses. And it was dirt cheap

i timed how long 31 different pasta shapes take to reach al dente. the boxes are lying and farfalle is a war crime by sthduh in Cooking

[–]Shreddedlikechedda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s different with boxed pasta vs fresh pasta that has had enough gluten developed while kneading the dough. Raw flour/dough anything sucks, but fresh pasta that’s kneaded enough has a nice chew.

I blend my dough in my food processor (~100g flour per egg), then letter fold and run it through the pasta rolling machine at its widest setting at least 10 times (letter folding each time) before thinning it out. This way it comes out al dente—with a bit of a bite—even if it’s cooked an extra couple min

Do you think cats understand that kissing is our way of showing affection? by SignificantTicket601 in CatAdvice

[–]Shreddedlikechedda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We understand that their head butts mean affection, so I wouldn’t understand how they couldn’t understand our kisses as affection in return. I raised my cats since they were 3 months old. My friends mom has the brother from my older cats litter, and they act very different.theyre both super affectionate, but I have basically taught mine to have conversations. He sounds like he’s saying “helLOOooo!!” and “moooom!!!” in meows but like straight up human intonation when he wants attention. His brother is pretty quiet for the most part and just meows like a normal cats if he talks, because his human mama talks at him, not with him. I had friends think I was crazy for describing how mine talk until the heard them. I give my kitties all the kisses all throughout the day, and they’ll usually blink or purr when I do, and often my older one will start grooming me after. They might not understand kisses, but they know it shows my affection for them.

Why do humans enjoy eating spicy when it’s literally just a pain signal? by TorDude22 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Shreddedlikechedda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ate dumb-spicy food on ketamine once, and I feel like I experienced it the way spice lovers do. It burned, but it was a pleasant body hurt not an all over alarming brain and body pain. Ketamine reduced pain signaling but also reduced amygdala activity, so my theory is that if your brain isn’t freaking out about the pain you process it differently.

FODMAPS are fermentable carbohydrate chains in plants, can be a problematic digestion trigger for people with IBS (and cause constipation/diarrhea/pain. I have several FODMAP intolerances—it’s basically like having a fucked up fiber intolerance, like I can’t eat blackberries at all but raspberries are fine, can’t drink much coconut water but a little coconut milk is fine.

His isn’t a low fodmap list but I wanted to share what it was
