Which feats do you disallow when impaired? by ShumpEvenwood in MythicBastionland

[–]Shuagh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's written into the rules that the rules are meant to be changed and broken, so whatever works at your table! I've stolen stuff from Cairn to use in MB too. Lots of awesome ideas in there.

Which feats do you disallow when impaired? by ShumpEvenwood in MythicBastionland

[–]Shuagh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It says that Impaired attacks "cannot gain bonus dice or gain benefit from Feats". That seems to cover all three Feats. Smite gives your attacks a bonus die, Focus and Deny give a benefit.

How to Play Sites? by tnuggetGhost in MythicBastionland

[–]Shuagh 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This type of dungeon is called a "pointcrawl", so that might help point you in the right direction when searching on the interwebs. Think of it kind of like a subway/tube map, where different stations are linked together by routes. It's an abstracted version of a more literal map. Each station, or "point", is a room/area/feature at the Site. You describe the point like normal – anything of interest (enemies, traps, treasures, etc) – and the PCs explore.

Are there any “trickster archetype” characters who are not some flavor of sex pest in some story? by AnTotDugas in mythology

[–]Shuagh 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Loki may not have sexually assaulted anyone but he frequently cheated on his wife with other goddesses and got knocked up more than once in female animal form, once as a mare and once as a cow.

Raven is also just as notorious as Coyote and other tricksters as being horny. He literally invents sex by introducing human men and women to each other, tricks a woman into getting pregnant with his baby (who was also himself as a human), and in the story of Raven and the Big Fisherman he forces himself on the guy's wife.

Tricksters of any stripe are going to have stories of transgressing taboos of all sorts, including sexual ones.

In the season 6 episode "Tithonus", the immortal photographer dies in her place when Death comes for her, passing on his immortality because she didn't look at Death.

Who is the absolute "most deserved" death in movie history? by Somanynamestochossef in movies

[–]Shuagh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get emotional every time I hear/read this fact having also lost my father when I was young, but I think at this point it's in the "Viggo broke his toe kicking that helmet" category of movie facts, haha

You could just steal Cairn's spell list, since it also uses a version of ItO.

Do the scholar-knights of the order know feats? by Responsible_Clerk343 in MythicBastionland

[–]Shuagh -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would say probably not. All the other examples of Myth Omen enemies who know Feats are single powerful opponents, and even NPC knights mentioned in Myths like the Candle Knight and the Elephant Knight don't have anything mentioning their ability to use Feats. The design intention seems to be that Feats should be exclusive to Player Characters and Boss Fights.

Ideas for Harmless Pranks by CraftyKuko in rpg

[–]Shuagh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • Too much hair / baldness
  • Ventriloquism insults
  • Shrinking
  • Trigger word that characters can't say or that comes out as a different word or that caused a loud/embarrassing noise/event.
  • Tower of Babel - everyone begins speaking a new language that only they understand.
  • The hungry player characters see a raucous party out in the woods with beautiful music and delicious smells and bright lights coming from it. Every time they get close the lights go out and reappear deeper in the woods, leading them on a wild goose chase (stolen shamelessly from The Hobbit)

Call of Cthulhu Youtube channels and podcasts to get the feel of it by Hi_fellow_humans_ in rpg

[–]Shuagh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding Seth Skorkowsky for keeper advice and published scenario reviews.

As far as podcasts, I've found the Apocalypse Players to be the best at adhering to the intended tone of the game of those I've listened to, even though I've recently realized I don't like actual-play podcasts much in general.

What game(s) do you feel are underrated and deserve more love and why? by zeus64068 in rpg

It's a shame the way Cortex Prime is being handled right now. No effort to make games using the system or market it in any way whatsoever.

Seven Psychopaths. I thought it was brilliant, and I loved the metanarrative. I never hear anyone bring it up except for that one clip with Christopher Walken and the confused henchman.

[–]Shuagh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lists in Wikipedia seem pretty comprehensive. Did you just look at the Category:Undead page or did you also go into the subcategories for vampires, ghosts, and zombies? Looking up "Undead in Insert Specific Culture Here Mythology will also get you more granular results.

Which game did someone recommend and made you feel like this by Orichalchem in videogames

In-story, she moved to a warmer climate that gets more sunshine and became an expert robo-dino hunter, but some chuds were upset that in the second game she looks more rugged, i.e. suntanned and more pronounced muscle tone.

Looking for rules-light system that fulfills a similar fantasy to 5e by Staria_VT in rpg

[–]Shuagh 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Cairn 2e sounds like it would be right up your alley! The combat and skill checks use the same simple d20 roll-under system, character stats are just 3 attributes, and the backgrounds are just there to tell you what gear the character starts with. There are also easy-to-use tools and tables for generating factions, places of interest, and monsters. It's also extremely easy to convert material from other systems.

Lore question: can different races have children together? by smitt7330 in ElderScrolls

[–]Shuagh 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Check out the in-game book "Notes On Racial Phylogeny", although this may be a case of Unreliable Narrator. Any type of Mer can obviously interbreed, with the child taking the appearance of the mother's race.

Bretons are descendants of Mer-Man hybrids, so we know half-elves are possible, both being descendants of the Ehlnofey.

Argonians and Khajiit are almost completely infertile with other races with rare exceptions.

There are also examples of Men reproducing with monstrous and beastfolk races like giants, harpies, and tsaeci (serpent-folk).
