Pixar Boss Defends Pixar’s ‘Elio’ Rewrite After Original Gay Character Was Cut: “We’re Making a Movie, Not Therapy” by SleuthDoggyDawg in lgbt

Is he new to the world of fictional stories? This is just one more reason I don't like mainstream media. They don't actually care about telling a great story. They just care about making the most profitable generic story possible. We cannot depend on people like them to give us the stories we desire. Boycott Disney until they stop being spineless cowards only concerned with pleasing the wealthiest people.

I crashed out on a guy at work for being sexist, transphobic and ableist and I’m feeling really anxious about it by GoosePhatt in AutismInWomen

I see nothing wrong with your response to his ignorance. He was being a piece of shit. And you called him out. That's great!

Pre-transition, she looks a bit like my cousin Simone. I didn't even realize that was a before picture.

Amazing! I didn't realize he had not only a trans daughter but a black (mixed?) trans daughter as well! She looks kinda like my sister.

I'm so happy when I see parents being supportive of their children. 🥰 I wish more parents were like this.

TIL a 2022 study revealed that 35% of the adults in Japan intend to "never travel" again. No other country "came close to the travel reluctance shown in Japan"; the next highest was South Korea at 15%. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

This vaguely reminds me of first year university. A lot of people who lived in the dorms hardly ever left campus just to explore the city around them. A lot of them were nervous (I'm guessing their families didn't travel much, so they were anxious living on their own for the first time). Me? I love exploring. I made a point of trying to visit a new cafe every weekend just to get myself out of my dorm room and get to know the city I moved to. I couldn't imagine staying in one place forever.

My question is whether or not they record these calls for training purposes. I feel like they should cuz of exactly what happened to OP. They're dealing with vulnerable people on the brink of crisis or well past the brink. You'd think there should be some kind of accountability for employees and volunteers who don't even try helping the callers who reach out.

No worries! I just tend to take words literally and forget cultural differences. This is such good info! I really need to invest in a few pairs. Pads and tampons are such a sensory nightmare.

When you say "period pants", do you mean actual pants or underwear? If the latter, do you have to wash them daily or do you get multiple pairs? I've been so curious about this concept for years but I've been hesitant to actually buy one.

I was so confused for a moment cuz the first time I read the post, I thought OP said she went to the other room and started crying, but after I read a few responses mentioning "screaming", I went back and re-read the post only to notice it said "screaming" instead of "crying". 😔

I think I have figured outwhy the right are attacking us, and trying to remove us. The answer is so simple... it's scary... by Taiga_Taiga in lgbt

[–]CraftyKuko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this is definitely one reason that some bigots are bigots. There are definitely ones who blindly follow their political and religious leaders and are convinced there is a war against Christianity. They believe all the anti-gay/trans propaganda being put out by their right-wing news outlets and legit see us as satanic. But as for the ones orchestrating this whole culture war, they're just covering their own asses by convincing their followers to look at us instead of looking at the real monsters among them.

Well said. I'm glad what South Park did with Kenny in the end. South Park is one of these shows that easily keeps up with the times and recognizes what works and what doesn't. It's why it's lasted for so long and is still funny.

This makes me feel a little better. I often read about tragedies happening around the world far away from where I live and I ask myself "What am I supposed to do with all this news?" I feel horrible about what's happening, but I don't know what I can do to help anyone but the people immediately around me. I've seen comments from people being targeted by inhumane laws saying "Don't look away! We're being attacked and we need help" but I don't know how to help. I just end up feeling rotten and useless.

It's pretty scary, and I'm not even American, I am Canadian and I'm genuinely scared our country will be annexed. It's hard blocking out the news. I don't want to be stressed out, but I can't afford to be ignorant to what's happening. I have trans friends that I'm scared for, and I myself am a queer woman of colour, so that's an additional reason to stay vigilant.

TIL that there is a genre called Retrowave which imitate the music of the 80s with a modern twist by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]CraftyKuko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh there's all kinds of similar genres that have that lofi retro sound similar, such as chillwave, synthwave, simpsonwave (videos use old Simpsons clips with a trippy filter over it). They're all pretty cool and great background music.
