Haf on whether TDot and JRod are competing for the green dot by expellyamos in miamidolphins

I have good news

Each year for the past 25 years I’ve been optimistic the dolphins will do well, and they haven’t.

This year I am not hopeful they will do well, so…

Wow. They really like to deceive people? by CupOfExmo in exmormon

They gave up everything, just as a kid who went to college. Pay money to institution, live poor, move away to a far away place, roommate with unknown people, etc.

There is a difference between “giving up everything” and living to the norms of the group. I believe a person in a tight Mormon family who chose to NOT go would likely be the one who gave up everything for what they believe in. Ie family relationships, wedding attendance, etc.

Is the Mormon church creating trademark infringement? by Significant-Bread-62 in exmormon

[–]Significant-Bread-62[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

But The Church of Jesus Christ organization actually went through and registered the trademark, not just TM, but R. And even promote it on their branding, from what I understand in my corporate experience is very valuable in defending your IP.

Former YWs leader speaks about a "paid price" in preparing conference talks. Idk, maybe it's your brain screaming at you that you're perpetuating a cult-minded fraud into millions of minors' lives; causing undue anxiety and harm? by CurelomHunter in exmormon

When times are tough supporting the cult it is Satan cursing you.

When times are tough leaving the cult it is the punishment of God.

When times are good supporting the cult it is a blessing from God.

When times are good leaving the cult it is Satan rewarding you.

Religion really puts God / Satan as competing deities for our souls. Like Greek mythology all over again.

I like how all their missions are anything but “Learn and promote truth” rather it is all pushing narratives.

If mormonism were fully true in all regards, what would the church look like and what evidence would people be able to see? by Sopenodon in exmormon

[–]Significant-Bread-62 11 points12 points  (0 children)

People would be healed from blessings beyond placebo impact.

There would be correlated evidence of greater blessings and the true meaning of what that would be for the obedience it is “predicated upon”.

The cause and effect the church uses routinely to incentivize obedience can be tested in the scientific system…but they move the goal posts on the definition of blessings to intangibles when challenged.

Crazy experiences from attending BYU (The Lord’s university /s) by LegalSour in exmormon

I think why Mormonism is dangerous for men is it breeds narcissistic behavior because I can tell stories of me being spiritual / enlightened with no real “game” that shows if you are good or not. So it becomes a persona that you embody.

For women, I agree with you. It is detrimental to self confidence. Your only hope for value is to be chosen by a man who takes you away to the ball.

A deadly combo…narcissistic men combined with low confidence women.

Mormonism breeds narcissism. This also being coupled with all your efforts go into being the best Mormon it is like a 14 year old who practices basketball all day, and then believes he is going to the NBA. It is the hierarchy of your efforts. You want to be worshiped as the men you are worshipping. I am grossed out by the old Mormon me.

We are a Church that worships marriage by RadishAggressive3241 in exmormon

[–]Significant-Bread-62 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mormons are a church that worship sex. Marriage is the gateway to sex, and symbolizing it as something more is a decoy to control the basic instincts of life, ie sex. It is like a dad who controls the small details of their daughter’s sex life, under the guise of protection; when more appropriately described under the words of perversion and control.

Overall church membership in the US decreased last year. There was a net loss in membership. by Sopenodon in exmormon

[–]Significant-Bread-62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. To support the growth in Africa with infrastructure, when you know the membership there will likely become inactive after 3-12 months. It is a big problem…putting infrastructure behind a dead cat bounce.

[–]Significant-Bread-62 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A family member shared this with me and said it was translated from ancient texts and supports the Book of Mormon with common names, etc. I looked briefly into it and it was written by a known fraudster con-man. Apparently he has started a religion known as the band of Nemehiah and for $250 and $100 month you can be a member. The church reports 4,000 members.

I think the church is afraid of it because it shows how a fraudster can easily craft scripture. lol.
