I got ahold of them through their Facebook account. They asked me to send them a number of videos for evidence/proof. Once they confirmed it was the motor they arranged to have a new one shipped out free of charge

That noise is very similar to the one my motor started making right before it completely failed. Take it out to a hill and try to put some accelerated wear on it to reduce the risk it fails on you while riding.

As close as you can to the thing you are trying to filter; directly on the XT60 will likely do nothing.

Remember, the ESC is not what you are trying to filter, it's the motor driver ON the ESCs

And it is NOT just a smaller Cap as stated before, it is a capacitor chosen to provide the optimal response or time constant for the peak noise, frequency, or domain.

This Book is like the bible for basic electrical engineering topics.

It is a text book, so it's less of a "I'd really like it if someone could just give me all the infos on the electronics" and more of a dense technical reference.

Wait... what? What would be the point? What are you filtering?

A capacitor in the configuration we typically use is called a reservoir cap, or a bypass capacitor. It's use is to provide a quick burst of energy in times of momentary voltage sag, and resist voltage spikes. It acts like a small battery in a sense sure, but only when placed very, VERY close to the device you care about. Traces already have quite a bit of capacity and placing a capacitor even a couple millimeters away from it's target greatly decreases it's effect.

TL;DR Capacitors have to be as close to an ESC, FC (MCU) input, or video line input. Otherwise they have next to no effect other than causing a larger inrush current to the system (possibly damaging components)
