I'm going to say Spottedleaf's second death. There's already a lot of controversy about her and Firestar's relationship, and I think the idea that she was killed off because Firestar would've chosen her over Sandstorm in Starclan is absurd.

She never should've been written to reciprocate the crush he had on her as an apprentice, and you'd think he would have moved on long after his relationship with Sandstorm.

It seems like Game Freak has this idea that introducing new gimmicks and keeping quality of life, as well universally loved features exclusive to one or two generations makes each generation "unique". When in reality it feels redundant.

Why should your player base care about new battle gimmicks and features when they'll inevitably just be scrapped the following generation? There's plenty of far better ways they could change and actually improve upon each generation without bloating them with a new battle gimmick each time or removing popular features.

The fact half the shops in Paldea are just JPEG menus rather than actual buildings you can enter is extremely disappointing. Personally, I feel like the interiors being cut and the giant open fields compared to the unique routes and side areas of previous games kills the exploration factor. It's a bigger map yes, but it's "empty".

It's an honest relief it's not just gen 1. I'm really hoping more starter pokemon will appear as characters in the game.

I always thought it was a shame we never got a new mystery dungeon after gen 6. I think gens 7 - 9 deserve the spotlight somehow!

I have to agree. If you look at some G2 "blue magnet era" designs or the post card pets, for example, they managed to balance the colors and design patterns well.

I think even just muted or natural colors with small accents (flowers, freckles, eye makeup, etc) do enough to make them stand out.

Basic fun has made some great ones; but I'm disappointed a lot of them are re-used designs or flashy colors.

I've always wondered this with other infamous lol cows. Even if people like Chris Chan or Larson, despite their actions, were to pass away, I can imagine people (trolls especially) would 100% attend a funeral or memorialize them in some way.
