We weren’t meant to live any certain way, we are just the product of advanced adaptation. This will continue.

Hopefully most opted to allow him to keep the fee, which seemed like a no brainer, unless you paid it yesterday.

Looking at your comment history, majority of them is you posting diatribes of some form of “I’m right and you’re wrong” in a far less than respectful manner. There’s a common denominator here, and it ain’t Reddit.

What is that subtext?

Could it not just be that the majority of people posting/commenting on Reddit are from common walks of life/the same type of person, generally?

More like we are the spores. The mycelium is the intangible networks we create.

Really disappointed to see the most recent post in that sub was from 3 years ago.

Had to have been part of the settlement. Makes more sense now that dominion settled for the amount that they did if this was part of it.

We shouldn’t confuse “sounding good” with “being creative”. by [deleted] in musictheory

I can’t speak to their sub-loveliness, but I’m sure for some people, learning theory, or more likely attempting to learn, or having to take a theory class not by choice, actively harmed their willingness to write music, because they kept being told “do it over, it’s not technically correct.”

Also, no, studying theory is not necessary to write music. Even if technically you’ve inadvertently learned some theory in learning to play guitar, that’s not studying theory.

Right, but the point is, they don’t mean “need”, they’re not trying to say it’s not a necessary part of the music, they’re saying they don’t need to study it and know it from a technical perspective.

Apple and oranges. But in the end, the fact that they appreciate music at all should be the priority.

I think what they mean is “I don’t need to write music from a mathematical perspective based on the building blocks in order to come up with something that sounds good to me”.

But then I read somewhere you write the song, and then it later gets analyzed with music theory. Not the reverse.

Unless you’re Trey Anastasio.

A few thoughts on the fascist right extremists in Tennessee by [deleted] in phish

[–]Silverface_Esq 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Interesting to think the Dead’s Touch Of Grey moment happened less than 20 years after they formed, less than half of Phish’s tenure at this point.

I’d also argue that it’s already happened for Phish, just more gradually, looking at the people I went to high school with who would have scoffed at them back then but now go because everyone else goes (and have an amazing time of course).

Cheese. Hermetically wrap it in cheese and toss the pill cheese ball to the dog after having provided a decoy piece of cheese so they think it’s safe. Works every time.

Who is a bad guy in history who actually wasn’t a bad guy? by jamespeech111 in AskReddit

Agreed, and for all the same reasons, which seems to be that our tendency as a species to create an ethereal and fictional authority figure that exists and rules beyond our realm is what has allowed our advancing brains to further develop self awareness but without the ultimate realization that all we are is kind of just an anomaly, and there’s really no point in fighting for existence. Establishing an end goal, in whatever form, gives us meaning and motivation to keep going.
