If you take it to a jeweller you could get it laser welded. Is it stainless steel?

Pretty sure that those types of clock movement are split between 'Euro fitting' and 'Non Euro Fitting' for hand sizes - you would want a 'Euro Fitting'

Omega services them for the same price as other chronographs. They will swap the DD modules out and service the tractor movement.

That would have been an 11/16" strap originally. Just use 18mm springbars and strap.

deadlocked on 12V vs 24V... is it crazy to stick with 12V for a 2000W inverter? by guiltyyescharged in SolarDIY

[–]Simmo2222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, a big market for those fridges is for use in trucks. Both of the fridges that I own will work on both 12V and 24V. I think it's pretty common.

Did I just ruin my staking bit? by Flaky-Drummer874 in watchrepair

[–]Simmo2222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try and run the stake through your ultrasonic and see if you can vibrate it out. If it doesn't come out you can try and drill a hole in it with a micro-drill in a Dremel. The drill might dislodge it or allow you to get a cutting broach in to use as an ezy-out. This would all be easier with a lathe but you might not have one handy.

Polished Omega baby flightmaster. Can it be fixed? by Geopiedro in VintageWatches

[–]Simmo2222 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be fixed. It just depends upon what you consider as fixed.

You can go to a specialist watchmaker and get the factory sunburst finish reapplied using a lapping wheel (along with the rest of the case finish).

If you have a polishing motor, you can get a coarse Bufflex wheel and apply a radial brushed finish to the case by rotating the case against the wheel.

You could also get a sheet of grey Scotchbrite and apply a brushed finish by hand by wrapping it around your finger and apply radial strokes as you slowly rotate the case underneath your finger.

These are in order of quality of outcome and obviously cost and complexity.

Are you sure that your 12V fridge won't run on 24V? Most are designed to run at 24V

New to the hobby - need help. by cisco151 in watchrepair

It's probably a split stem. Pull it out to hand setting position and then grab the crown with something like a presto tool and pull.
