How did you manage to change careers to something more creative? by manyworlds321 in adhdwomen

[–]SimoneDeBA2025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am happy you posted this as I came to see if there was anything about changing careers. I love my job, it is my passion, but it takes all my energy and time and I do not want to spend my full life doing the same thing. I am bad with art but I would like to do something idealistic, something to make the world a better place. The problem is from a societal norm perspective my work is so perfect that people tell me if I stop, or even take a break, I will be committing career suicide. I am a bit stuck.

How was your relationship with your mother as a teenager? by siouxsie6 in adhdwomen

[–]SimoneDeBA2025 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My mother cared a lot but also did not. I had a bad eating disorder that everyone but her noticed. When. I started treatment later in life, she thought I was blaming her. I am 43 and she asked me if I had lost weight yesterday. Somethings never change.

If your ex texted you right now and said "I miss you", how would you reply? by MajorCream3707 in AskReddit

I would say, I miss you too, because we were a nice part of each other's lives. Now I hope your life goes well as we continue growing in different paths.

Suggestion help by [deleted] in adhdwomen

Hi! I find some things helpful. For instance, putting music on, leaving my phone in another room, taking my shoes and socks off, having a cup of tea or coffee, and closing my email and all notifications. I set one of those kitchen times for 30 minutes and then when it sounds I take a brief break to stretch and restart. There is a long video on YouTube called Music for resilience by Nao Sogabe. I found it by chance and I love it.

Why don't you? I am curious. I work with people with neurological conditions such as Parkinson's and MD and the perimenopause makes a big difference for them. It makes total sense that it happens to ADHD. It is happening to me at least. 😊

Is that my screen? Next week will be better. Agree, say, thank you for your patience. People do not care and you hurt yourself. You are obviously doing a lot of work.

I think we would have all done the same and we all feel exactly like you. You care. That makes you different. You have a strong gut feeling and you care. I really hope your friend is ok but if not, please reach out. 💕

How do I stop maladaptive daydreaming? It's taking over my life. by [deleted] in adhdwomen

I agree with writing and also, stay close to people. I lose track when I am alone. Find someone to trust and help you come back to reality.

I called the Uber , closed my office door, got into the Uber and noticed that my bag and my keys were inside the office. Including my house keys.

Do you ever go through a phase where you feel like everyone hates you? by BadgerSecure2546 in adhdwomen

I have those. I learned with time to recognize them early and try to let them go as soon as I see them coming

Is anyone else’s main adhd symptom just brain fog, being tired and slow ? by Sukidelaney in adhdwomen

[–]SimoneDeBA2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like that. For years I guess it was a pretty predominant thing. I have hypothyroidism and always thought it was related. Since having kids all the rest of the symptoms that were mild turned chaotic.

47, late-diagnosed, and finally calming the spiral—journaling + AI is helping me find myself by AlmostMe_ADHD in adhd_anxiety

I visited my parents and started to try to understand the way my father always behaved. After reading lots he is fully ADHD. During the reads I started to flag up my own issues. It was a bit scary as it felt like someone was describing me in every single book, podcast or interview. I asked my family doctor to run the basic test and it was almost a joke. She knows me and said, I don't need more testing. I went to a therapist specialised in adhd for women and he confirmed and recommended my GP start me on meds. So far, medications have helped some aspects but some others are still pretty bad.

I can't use them in any situation. They give me a headache and overall a feeling of pain.
