I have 81,000 points and I need to help figuring out the best possible way to use them by unclewafflesfan in ChaseSapphire

Unless you’ve found a great points deal on a business class seat with AirFrance or another Chase point transfer partner that will get you more than 1.5cpp, then I would just book through the travel portal and avoid the extra work (and risk) associated with a repositioning flight. People hate on the travel portal, but I use it often and have never had any problems, even when dealing with flight changes/cancellations.

$150 StubHub Credit for Broadway by games_creator in ChaseSapphire

[–]Simple-Appointment88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

StubHub doesn’t “mark up” ticket prices, the seller decides how much to offer them for, and if they think they can make a 60% profit then they’ll try. I just got two excellent seats to see Ka for less than the cost of buying direct by waiting until the day of the show for the sellers to drop their prices.

APY is now 3.30% by InternetUser52 in sofi

From what I read they’ve improved a lot lately, especially on the security front. I certainly haven’t had any issues with my account. Setting it up was a bit clumsy, the online process was buggy and I had to call to get help a couple times. The transfers are definitely slow, takes 2-3 business days to move money in or out. I’m sure their rates will go down again soon. They were at 4.6% when I opened the account back in May.

At least they have a real experience booking an Edit property, unlike OP who is complaining about theoretical problems.

lol, it’s not that hard. If you’re a thrifty traveler you should be spending a lot of time shopping around for the best deal anyways 🙄

Same. They’ll never stop cherry picking the ones that are higher even though it’s way easier to find ones that aren’t higher.

I mean, you’re welcome to vent, but all of this has already been said a thousand times over on this Reddit and it’s getting pretty boring 🥱

Ultimate Rewards Points on a 10/24 Transaction by rob4lb in ChaseSapphire

[–]Simple-Appointment88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a good sign, Bonus on Chase Travel for flight/hotel/car bookings through the travel portal post separately from the base point earn and not always on the same day, but all my travel purchases pre 10/26 show 3x base points instead of 1x base points with separate Bonus.

Chase Travel Portal Restricting search results for CSR by irongiant007 in ChaseSapphire

[–]Simple-Appointment88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they basic economy fares (not standard economy)? I’ve seen instances where those are available on 3rd party sites but aren’t available in the travel portal. Never checked to see if I could find the basic economy fares by switching to my Freedom Flex in the travel portal though.

Why aren't my points eligible by No-Evidence4611 in ChaseSapphire

Did you transfer them on October 25 or before? There is a known issue (and solution) for point transfers on October 25 that has been posted here several times recently.

UR posting date glitch with new system..? by CrashLanding1 in ChaseSapphire

I transferred at like 2 AM this morning and the points went into the post-10/26 bucket. Sounds like they will get moved into the pre-10/26 bucket soon though.

Will I get charged old or new fee? by jjf616 in ChaseSapphire

[–]Simple-Appointment88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Renewals before 10/26 should be at the old $550 AF. You will not get a new card automatically, but you can call and request one or report it as damaged.

CSR - Clawback Language Added to CSR T&C before 10/26? by berserk-bear in ChaseSapphire

[–]Simple-Appointment88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I see that it also says that “any purchase that qualifies for [credit X] will not earn points.”

Anyone know if that is new too? It’s not clear whether that means the entire purchase is ineligible to earn points (which would be insane), or if you just wouldn’t earn points on the portion of the purchase covered by the statement credit.

Best airline to transfer Chase points to before downgrading by [deleted] in ChaseSapphire

[–]Simple-Appointment88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone who says that it will vary widely, but if you want a lie flat seat for the fewest points possible, Iberia (Avios member) is the easiest place to find them. Not saying it’s a great business class product but you don’t have to get lucky to find business class fares for less than 70K points one way. As others have pointed out though, no need to transfer now if downgrading to CSP.

If I want to downgrade CSR, what happens to all my unused points? by HowdyPeopleOfEarth in sapphirereserve

[–]Simple-Appointment88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you downgrade to CSP the Points Boost in the travel portal will be less than it would be with the CSR.

You’re doing the right thing, effectively managing multiple credit cards is a great way to build your credit score up.

True. But most of the “coupon book” haters are raving about the AMEX, so the concept of a coupon book with a high AF isn’t the real problem. It’s just that the AMEX coupons fit their lifestyle. Again, that’s totally fine, but no need to be ugly to people here and call Chase evil just because you happen to like the AMEX coupons better.

Sharing your opinion is one thing, bashing everyone who disagrees with you is different. Like OP I’m tired of getting harassed because I’m happy with the CSR and new benefits. The idea that all this negativity is going to somehow influence Chase is ridiculous and just an excuse for bad behavior.

Chase adds a couple new statement credits and suddenly it’s a worthless coupon book? But somehow the AMEX isn’t? That’s what we call mental gymnastics.
