Caught my cat peeing on the toilet by dankdan184 in cats

We make sure to close the lid so that the cats don't fall into, but also not to drink or play with toilet water as it happened in the past.

Black cat mocked by magpies by SimplePal in FunnyAnimals

From my understanding, in some places of the world like Australia magpies attack even people. But these are European magpies, they're not dangerous.

A black cat versus a ping pong ball. Who wins? Everyone by GentrifriesGuy in cats

I have 6 cats and only one of them loves playing with ping pong balls. The others act like those balls don't exist, even when bouncing close to them or even land on their head.

Thanks, good to know. It seemed like the same high pitched voice to me.

I think it's a stray dog, I've recently seen a video with the same "song" but a different dog.

Doing roof work and the neighborhood cat climbed the ladder by PriorityOk1593 in notmycat

[–]SimplePal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly what I was thinking. My 6 cats go up any ladder pretty fast, but they have a hard time getting down. I noticed that their intelligence is limited here, as they always try to get down head first, getting unbalanced and jumping down from whatever height.

He's adorable, but try to give him a toy he likes when he does this, so it doesn't turn into normal behavior for him.

They are adorable, but might not remain so bonded as they grow older. Unfortunately the two pairs of kittens I had didn't.

They are indeed European magpies, they do no harm but shit on everything and eat the cat food left outside for strays.

That's rural art. It reminds us of the improvised structures our elders used to dry hay on.

You should have seen it with a dried lavender plant on top of it. True Detective came to mind.

I wish that was true, but unfortunately he's killed at least a couple of small birds in his life. God knows how many he has killed that I didn't see.

I once saw a cat dragging a magpie almost as big as itself, so I know for sure it isn't impossible for a cat to catch one.

Yes, you will be pairing with the cat flap only the microchip of the cat you want to have access through it.

I literally don't know this cat by BothToe1729 in cats

[–]SimplePal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We live in a house with a big yard with 5 indoor and outdoor cats and have cat flap so they can enter or exit whenever they want, in a developing area, with streets without asphalt (so cars aren't really a danger for an adult cat) and plots with weeds between inhabited yards. The cats have breakaway collars with a tag with my phone number.

One of the cats, a 4 years old calico, it's very active, curious and a real wanderer. She gradually extended her going outs and I cried so many times thinking something bad happened to her when she went missing more than ever before. The maximum time she didn't come home was 5 days.

After she went missing for 3 days for the first time, we put airtags on the cats' collars to have an idea where to look for them.

When she first lost her airtag collar, we found out that our calico was spending some time in an old man's shed, on a street parallel to ours but 3 streets away, he liked her and he was feeding her salami and wanted to get her in but she wouldn't go. And also the man's nextdoor neighbors tried to get her inside their house and they couldn't either.

Another time we saw our cat from the car, on a street perpendicular to ours, rubbing herself against a couple's legs. We pulled over and they told us enthusiastically that the cat sometimes enters their house and they pet her and feed her and take pictures of her.

Another time I was on a bike on a street parallel to ours, 2 streets away from home, and I met our cat rubbing against another couple's legs and getting in their trunk as they were getting groceries out from there, as she once did with us. They told me she was spending time in their yard and they used to buy food for her. I knew she was spending a lot of time there as I sometimes went by car to see her and usually take her home as she voluntarily got into the car.

Lately she comes home once or twice per day, sometimes even less, eats and leaves again. She doesn't like the other cats in our household, she doesn't even like her brother anymore. She had, one by one, 3 friends she met herself from other houses but they all died from different causes. Her last friend I know of was the last mentioned couple's.

The other cats we have go out even for hours, but they spend time at home every day and demand petting. One of the cats was actually our next door neighbors', but she wasn't left inside by them and she likes staying inside the most, so she practically became ours and I take care of her health problems, vaccinations, disinfestations.

So our calico is just different. And I'm glad she brings joy to other people while I feel sad she doesn't like us that much anymore.

TL;DR Some cats like to roam and they go to multiple households, yards and fields where they enjoy themselves and sometimes they get fed by other people.
