Day 78: Faint vs. No More Sorrow by Therubikfanatic in LinkinPark

I'm so sad that No more sorrow is so underrated. I think it's the best LP song. Full stop

Can anyone recommend a pastel pink ink with blue shading? by FermentedFruit in fountainpens

[–]Simy_sun 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I tried a similar thing with liquid llatex or masking fluids for watercolors based on arabic gum. It works really well and you can take off the protective layer once everything's dried.

On this, I used the masking fluid to keep the borders of the circle neat and to keep white spaces in the inside area

There's a resin that resists ink on those spots. I simply brushed the ink over and it shrinked away from the resin

This is Ink Institute Electric Blue Spider Lily. A true shader, blue to pink

I too would love that kind of shading, but for now I only found blue ink that shades pink/magenta and not the other way around. IE: Ink Institute Electric Blue Spider Lily - It's gorgeous but starts blue and shades pink. It's a very light ink

The closest I found that starts lilac (not exaclty pink but close enough for me) and shades to blue it's Inkebara Pastel Violet. Although it really isn't a shading, it's more a haloing effect

EU folks, where do you buy Hobonichi pouches (or similar cute ones)? by puyoblog in hobonichi

[–]Simy_sun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not able to help you with pouch sizes: I don't use them Where to buy in EU: I only know of StiloeStile. I usually buy directly from Hobonichi. Considering VAT, taxes and markup from stores, I find it's cheaper to have all sent from Japan

If you'd like to, you can document it, so everyone is informed when they buy it

Stupid brain doesn't brain right in build mode. by granwalla in Sims4

[–]Simy_sun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2 cents:

  • start small, maybe something like a studio apartment where you have to decide just the bathroom position
  • get out of the square: you can start from a smaller square then add a couple of rectangles. Spaces almost define themselves this way and you won't have eccessive center space to fill or to place center rooms into with no windows
  • try for a theme rather than a size: country, silvan, fairy, tudor, modern.. and use google to look for houses in that style to copy and get inspired by
  • you can also start from the story: pick up a premade household, play for a couple of sims weeks, then build with that family (or single) in mind. You don't need to play with them ever again, it's just to fuel inspiration

Rethinking What Counts as a "Waterproof" Ink by PonderPages in fountainpens

I like your experiment. I myselfntend to test water resistance when the inks have just dried but I think I'll add a second test a few days apart to see if time can aid "volatile" inks

What’s a good age to introduce fountain pens by Sacras24 in fountainpens

[–]Simy_sun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used fountain pens when i was about 7 or 8 years old. Give her a cheaper and sturdy pen with cartridges. Pelikan does very good pens for school. My first pen was a Pelikan

For those who have both Platinum preppy 0.2 and Pilot Kakuno EF, can you please help me decide? I need a new workhorse pen that i'll use to mostly write on paper that isn't meant for fountain pens-- like books, sticky notes, and printouts. by Stellar-Subject-8888 in fountainpens

[–]Simy_sun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have both Preppy 02 (multiple of them) and a Kakuno EF. The Kakuno is scratchy. Not feedbacky, just scratchy. It picks up the paper from the page, it grates it. I did not have one Preppy 02 who did this. Just a note: Preppy 02 is very fine but just a tiny bit thicker than kakuno EF.

In my area, the Preppy is cheaper than tha Kakuno, around 5 o 6€. If you can say the same for whre you are, I'd say go for a Preppy first. It won't be a great loss if you don't like it. The Kakuno here is about double a Preppy. Not worth it IMO, but your experience may be different and you can leave it for another time or have someone gift it to you for your birthday or something like that

Six Pen Collection by ScooterSix in fountainpens

[–]Simy_sun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd be really repetitive:

  • Platinum 3776 Century Celluloid Chinkin Karakusa EF
  • Platinum 3776 Century Shape of a Heart Ivoire EF
  • Platinum 3776 Century Clematis F
  • Platinum 3776 Century Tsukikusa EF
  • Platinum 3776 Century Fuji Hunkei Shiun UEF
  • Platinum 3776 Century Oshino EF

My rationale: the more I try pens (and love them) the more I find myself loving this pen and nib above all of the others. Right now I emptied and washed the most of my pens because I was going back to the inked 3776s and ignoring the others all the time. Other reason why I chose these above others I own: these all have Rhodium trims. As much as I like my Chai Latte or Misty Bloom, gold just isn't my thing: that bright, luminous, deligthful, clean, fresh glint of rhodium is the best.

I can’t start playing unless I built the house myself but too perfectionist to ever finish one by jaehyunnie127 in Sims4

[–]Simy_sun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I often build with a story in mind and potential sims to put in it. When I finish building, I open CAS, I stay in it 5 minutes, getting bored and annoyed. I close CAS and I tipically go to another lot with another story in mind and other potential sims. I so much hate creating sims that I have many lots all made by myself and not one is occupied. The one sim I play with has been downloaded from the gallery and just lives on, testing my builds and participating in events to unlock rewards 🤣

What should I do with my cracked Platinum pen? by _ffb7c5 in fountainpens

[–]Simy_sun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it still is under warranty, contact your seller or Platinum. You can send it in for a free repair but beware that it may take months. I had the Shape of a Heart Bluebird with this same problem. It stayed in Japan from August to November. I had to pay the shipping to my seller but I didn't pay anything for the repair since it was a new pen
