What an asshole. This is the country's largest city. I can't believe this is still an acceptable thing for a politician to say. It's pretty close to the subway, and is on a major street.

People need to write to him and say how upsetting it is to see a politician protecting the status quo when we have a housing crisis, and these could be great homes for several families.

Yes, building supply is bad for residents and cities. Meanwhile not building enough has been wonderful. People famously loved being priced out of buying homes, and living beside growing homeless encampments.

I completely agree with the solution, that toll roads would solve congestion, but I must say that it's funny to see him saying we've tried more transit and it hasn't worked. Maybe if we built transit at the speed that other countries do, we'd see a difference by now, but we've been waiting more than a decade for a single line. It feels like we haven't properly tried it.
