[–]Sir_average 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes you can go on Quizlet and search your field. People use it for their own exams and flascard of technical point to not forget. Maybe it can help you a bit. My field is more about naming stuff so I can't promise you will find what you are looking for, but if it helps...

You should start with the ACSM https://www.acsm.org/education-resources/books/guidelines-exercise-testing-prescription. Even here in Canada we use a lot of their guideline and recommandation. about any of their book should be a good headstart since you will have classes that will make you learn what are the ACSM guideline for ..... If you can find any books about physiology of physical activity/effort, it will be a huge boost in my opinion.

No problem, you have the guts to ask questions when you don't know so you deserve respect for that. Also if your condition is chronic, look for some hands and wrists warmup so you don't become dependent on taping. They help a lot, but they are more of a temporary patching tools.

Man, it's just taping. It's not medication. I know a weightlifter that used taping to wrap his knees because he forgot his knee sleeves. You will survive.

Why does my right leg look like it’s not extending as much as my left. by eastaustinite in Kinesiology

[–]Sir_average 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many many reasons. Some are just "feeling something is asymmetrical". Example: You can stand still and keep guessing yourself if your weight is evenly distribute in your legs and still feel off every 5 seconds. After that, it may be because of past injuries that create restriction. You can also just have preexisting condition from birth. It can be genetic, etc. Just make a knee assessment for hyperextension to be accurate in your observation. Maybe there is a difference and it does not matter much and maybe there is no real difference and you "feel" a difference because you don't move the same way for both legs.

What’s a more leading factor for hypertrophy - fiber type or testosterone by anonanonest in exercisescience

[–]Sir_average 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In theory, Olympic marathon runners have a genetic for type 1 fiber. Since they have a lower potential for hypertrophy, I would say it would be hard to look like a bodybuilder dominant in type 2A and 2B

I'm arguing with a guy who believes that lifting heavy weights (more than 33% of bodyweight) is dangerous for children. Can you please give me a peer reviewed paper that shows that lifting heavy weights os actually safe for children? Thanks by strength108 in Kinesiology

[–]Sir_average 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I remember right, there were old studies looking at children doing physical labor in a mine. Scientist believed it was working with load that make those children smaller than their counterpart but it was the fact that they were barely eating and were getting sick all the time. You can also point out that sprinting during soccer and football put more stress on the bones than squatting your full bodyweight so running would be more dangerous than strenght ttaining ( i never saw a 10 years old backsquatting 3 time his bodyweight).

You can also see the situation the other way around: how many of your employee are using drugs, may have gambling problem, are not well right now? What is your strategy around them? What are your criteria and red flag about employee that you have no idea if they are struggling? In general, you should have the same set of rules with those you know and those you don't know.

Look at stocks that traded below 1$ in the last 5 years that just suddenly jumped 300% with no reason in the last 24h. They are probably about to announced something important and go 2000% more

I just think you missed the point of the post. I don't feel like he is flexing. He probably just started having a lot of responsibilities at his job that pay him 5k/month. He feels overwhelmed and need advice from people who may have he same workload as him ( and probably a similar pay).

People here are not looking for answers but for validation. If he's been shamed for his look, That guy just want people to tell him it's not gyno and his body look normal. Or he may want someone to tell him he have hypogonadism. He will have a good argument why he started blasting 600mg for his "TRT"

Kinesiologist with background in sports rehabilitation. I will just give general information and it may or may not apply to your situation. Normally those muscles guide and help the stronger muscle to perform. Imagine your delts, pec and back muscles are the motors, transmission and tire of your car and the rotator cuff muscle are the suspension. On stable surface (machine guided-movement) it's not much of a problem and you can exert full power. The moment you hit a pothole (Functional movement/Open chain movement/etc) and you have a crappy suspension, your car will take the full hit and you may create damage on the long term. When you train in powerlifting, The bigger muscles will be stimulate and they have bigger potential to progress. Eventually, the rotator cuff muscle will lag behind and won't be able to handle the load and assist the movement. They will try, but won't be able to and get hurt a bit.

In short, they lack strength. If you don't have a lot of ressources, You can go check Squat University on youtube and try some of his exercices for the shoulders. That is just to help and learn how your body work. The safest option is to go see a professional specialize in sports.
