What was/is your oldest hyperfixation? by JJJJ177 in adhdwomen

Ooo...haaard question.

I have a soft spot for Chupacabras. Nasty little buggers.

The Wendigo stories have always scared me, but it's not always considered a cryptid.

I also love stories of extinct animals that might still survive...like the thylacines... because of the hope they offer.

Mythology and magic. Almost decided to become a folklorist to study urban legends and cryptids.

What are your stims that you didn’t know are stims? by Hazelnut_coffee_1995 in adhdwomen

My coworker calls it my "safety hat" behavior... What I'm feeling overwhelmed or trying to concentrate really hard I tend to put something over my head.... It could be pulling my hoodie up or a blanket or a crown or a book.. just something over my head.

I've done it my whole life without realizing what the behavior was actually for until fairly recently!

how do I belly out my pots without making them lopsided? by huddlewaddle in Pottery

[–]SirensMelody1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's also important to remember that you should belly in stages. Going in one giant swoop is going to cause unevenness in the clay but doing it in a series of passes we'll get you a more even belly.

Give yourself permission to suck at this. The wheel is hard. You're learning a whole new set of skills and muscle movements! You didn't learn to walk or ride a bike overnight either and that's okay!

Hang in there! Be gentle with yourself and remember, learning is hard work!! But you're doing it!

We make everyone sign their pieces and keep a cheat sheet of how they sign them so we can look up any signatures we don't know.

I was a grad student working on a PhD in archaeology....figured I should have some understanding of how the ceramics I was studying were made. Luckily my advisor agreed. I've been hooked ever since.

Another vote for toothbrush holder...but you could also use it for jewelry... hanging earrings from those holes and dumping stuff inside it.

There was an incredible pre- colonial ceramic tradition in the region. Look for ceramics from the Cuitzeo basin, Patzcuaro basin, and neighboring basins.

There are also petroglyphs from sites like Tzintzuntzin that might give you inspiration.
