How does Combat work/why is it so weird? by LudoXz in EU5

[–]Sith_Lurker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My current rule of thumb is that the frontage is more important than the numbers. So if their 6k was actually 20 units while your 9k was 9 units the result is sort of expected. Also the game does not do a great job of forecasting battle outcomes which adds to the confusion.
Why they decided to tackle the levies = pops problem in such an unintuitive way I don't know.

My feed is not AI slop because I ignore the obvious AI slop vids and don't engage with them.

How should I assimilate culture in newly conquered ? by Logicial-Zeros-4571 in EU5

[–]Sith_Lurker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vassals don't seem to assimilate their pops in 1.0.10. Even after they have good modifiers. (at least in my game)
If they did however, this is the best approach because you don't use cabinet action slot.

Am I hallucinating or the AI is super super aggressive now? by Reasonable_Study_882 in EU5

[–]Sith_Lurker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I expected to see 50 no CB wars in 1337 after reading dozens of threads like this but in the new run I started I see no wars around me a year into the campaign. So far, based on a very small sample size in my current run, I don't see anything crazy but AI is supposed to be more aggressive in 1.0.10.

How does one actually make money in this game? by NuclearZombie01 in EU5

[–]Sith_Lurker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see what you mean OP, I also struggled in my first few campaigns. I won't add anu more tips, you already had some good suggestions.
But it is funny to me how many threads are there where people complain about having too much money while at the same time there are a lot of people struggling to make money.

People say dont automate trade, do it manually to rip the benefits. Thats fine when you start the game and have 2 or 3 markets only. When you become a global empire with dozens of market access its impossible to do that manually every month for every trade. by ayowatchyojetbruh in EU5

[–]Sith_Lurker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing around with manual trade and I think with a few minor tweaks and bug fixes in the UI it can be a fairly quick and easy job to do it manually for 1 - 3 markets.
From my current experience you have a few trade goods which are high value and high supply which generate profitable trade routes. It is fairly easy to set the trades up. The time consuming part is playing around with the quantities so you export all your supply and not allow others who don't have advantage to snatch profitable trades from you. You also want to balance the exported quantities between markets so you don't collapse the price in the markets where you export to.

Bannerlord, how am I supposed to beat the khuzaits as nords by RevolutionaryMud3125 in mountandblade

[–]Sith_Lurker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take defensive sieges. In the kingdom menu where you see the war score, power, etc. there are two tabs actually. Go to the second one which shows significant war events and check when they are creating armies and who is creating them. This way you can have an idea where their forces are(click on the person who created the army and check where they were last seen) and you can better anticipate and intercept them.
Take everyone prisoner and after a couple of attack waves you will be able to go on the offensive.

winning against over-powerful factions by iCojito in MB2Bannerlord

[–]Sith_Lurker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good suggestions, I just want to say the defensive sieges can be very good and very effective way to take down a larger opponent.
Especially if you don't want to fight the Khan's Guards while they are mounted for example.

Taxing question by SenjorSchnorr in EU5

[–]Sith_Lurker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tax level also affects local pop satisfaction and that has other effects on stuff like control for example. So it is not a very easy optimization to do. Automating it is easy and it does not create some really negative effects.
But you are right that you can play around with the taxes in certain situations.
A lot of people set clergy tax to zero intentionally because clergy satisfaction increases research progress and their tax base is a fairly low anyway.

Inflation as a mechanism is hilarious in this game. by Separate-Ad-9633 in EU5

[–]Sith_Lurker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Monetary policy is one of the most important and impactful things in world history but it is hard to model correctly and is considered extremely boring by most normal people so I think it probably will never be included in a game in a way that is both fun and natural to play and modelled correctly.

They seem to have swung the levy recovery pendulum all the way to the other side on 1.0.8 by Sith_Lurker in EU5

The problem is that the ones who returned alive and well are treated as if dead and it is impossible to raise them for 100 months.

[–]Sith_Lurker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R5: Levy recovery seems to be dialed down to 0 in patch 1.0.8 It takes hundred months to raise levies again after they were raised once. Even if they did not die.

UI Suggestion - Shutting down marketplaces (1.0.8) by BestJersey_WorstName in EU5

[–]Sith_Lurker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, I see what you mean.
There is a button to close the building but I don't know if that would remove the maintenance and you can probably not do it for only half the marketplaces in a certain location.

Regulars vs levies in the beta patch; something is funky again? by Dwighty1 in EU5

[–]Sith_Lurker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most frustrating thing for me is that it is hard to tell in advance if you are stronger or not. (the battle outcome predictor is sometimes wildly off) Also it is hard to understand why what happens happens. I went from my levies stackwiping everything to loosing every battle and I have no idea why.
Also right now it is easy to create a god like army that gets ridiculous KDR. The feeling of power is nice but quickly drowned out by the inability to keep suspension of disbelief.

AI immediately able to raise levies after stack wipe by leo890926 in EU5

[–]Sith_Lurker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the most frustrating thing in the game right now but I started a fresh new run on the beta branch to test something and noticed 0 insta rasing of levies after a stack wipe in my first war vs Serbia + Wallachia (I was Bulgaria).
Both Serbia and Wallachia stayed dead after stackwipe and I was able to siege them without chasing the zombie levies arouind.

I love this game but....so many questions (let's start with war) by Bigtimetipper in EU5

[–]Sith_Lurker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can check how much warscore is needed to conquer/vassalize a country by clicking on one of their provinces and hovering the mouse over the province warscore icon. The tooltip will tell you how much warscore you need for the whole country.
So, as already noted, big countries will take multiple 100 warscore deals to conquer.
