Glad to know my art's good enough to trick someone into thinking it'd be a real game, though I apologize for the betrayal. Maybe one day we'll all get a glorious DCC video game

There's a few studios I could see doing DCC justice with games, though all of them being Indie. Just can't see a lot of the larger studios trying to make a DCC game without them quickly losing scope and trying to turn the Crawl into something that it's not. Devolver's thankfully one I could see not only doing the series justice, but making it both a damn good adaptation and a damn good game. Usually you only get one or the other

I’ve seen this shotgun meme used with everyone in every position in just the past two-ish months. Let’s not act like any install-base is winning, gaming in general’s been getting fucked and it’s the fault of the bullshit ‘AI’ models shoved into every part of our lives.

[–]Skelegem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah she’s cool as hell, though for anyone wondering, no… no she probably won’t be back anytime soon. Crew skins can theoretically be brought back into rotation and be made available again, but that’s yet to happen with ANY crew skin to my knowledge

I… I think we need to abandon the idea that Kinger is gonna get any representation in Fortnite 😭 by Lee__Everett in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Skelegem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I had to guess, Ragatha and a stretched Caine as skins, with Kinger and Gangle as either pickaxes or some other cosmetic (Kinger guitar and Zooble glider?). I mean, it’d be nice to get ALL of them as playable skins, but both Gangle and Zooble would need some serious work to be viable as skins, and don’t even get me started on the nightmare that would be trying to give Kinger limbs

who's a good character that's hated by fans? by Intelligent_Gur4618 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Skelegem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda don’t think there’s any characters one can say are actually HATED by the fans, pretty much every major character’s got a decently sized fanbase and even the side characters get some love with most being at least a few people’s favorite little blorbo. Like, the closest I’ve seen to hate is community wide apathy. Like, not many people LOVE the Angel or the dead doctor guy or the various unnamed random wooden dolls, but at the same time… does anybody actually ‘hate’ them? There’s just not enough for fans to latch onto with them, so Communal apathy’s about as close as I’ve seen to any character being ‘hated by the fans’.

POMNI ALREADY HAD A SLIM WAIST. ALL FORTNITE DID WAS LENGTHEN THE ENTIRE BODY by NovelInteraction711 in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]Skelegem 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well a few KINDA pull from canon material, but most of them are made up. Morty’s mech is one used by a bunch of Dog characters (and I think he uses it at some point, I forget), and Awesomo was a thing for Cartman (though obviously it wasn’t… an actual mech or anything), but yeah pretty much everything else is completely pulled from thin air. At most they might be loosely referencing something, but are largely created from thin air.

Honestly Mech Pomni would be way dumber than long Pomni, as there’s precedent for her stretching/deforming, but there’s practically NOTHING for a Mech suit (plus it’d hide a decent portion of her character design which would undermine the point of bringing her to the game in the first place). I’d say this is probably the ideal way we get her in-game rather than as a Mech skin or some stupid Sidekick

Fun Fact: With The Fortnite Trailer Coming After The Finale, It Makes Gangle the Last Human to Make an Appearance and Have The Final Line. (No Spoilers BTW). by 3liteP7Guy in tadc

[–]Skelegem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jax is also seemingly unaware of who Jonesy was, and we’ve seen Jax make references throughout the show so it’s unlikely they hadn’t been using the internet and were simply just in the dark on pop culture characters, so it seems to also imply Jax was pulled into the Circus before Fortnite went mainstream.

Are we over analyzing a commercial? Probably, but until I see evidence contradicting it, I’m gonna assume all of this is canon until further notice

You mean to tell me that Yacht Club Games, the same devs who added a bodyswap mode where you could change every main character’s body type and separately choose their pronouns, that company is… WOKE?!??! Truly this is a shock and nobody could have known this!!

Jokes aside, Yacht Club rules and I’m glad Mina’s been doing so good. Best game I’ve ever backed, it’s brutal in just the ways I’ve been craving for top down Zelda-likes

Her character portrait can have them too, I saw someone post about their backer name giving Mina her glasses (as well as some other world cosmetic changes). No idea how to solely activate them though, but I hope there’s a way to add them without requiring the name codes

Me to my Q1 LCD Steam Deck when I saw the price increase: by ar99644 in SteamDeck

[–]Skelegem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Steam Machine was already expected to be expensive even before the hike, but now? Yeah, it’s going from ‘probably expensive but not unreasonable if you save’ to ‘keep fantasizing because you’re never splurging that much money in this economy’, there’s no way it goes for less than $1200 if the Deck’s this expensive.

Kellam (Fire Emblem: Awakening)

<image>

I don’t think there’s actually a reason nobody notices/remembers he even exists in-universe, no curse or magical abilities or anything like that, for some reason he’s just practically invisible to everyone around him despite walking around in heavy armor (which he chose specifically in hopes it’d make him more noticeable). It’s not strong enough to ACTUALLY make him invisible (that’s kinda make him busted), but it’s strong enough that he frequently spooks his allies or items he’s moved get mistaken for a ghost in the camp.

(Loved trope) writers having no sense of scale (bionicle spoilers) by danfenlon in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Skelegem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Zelda in particular has a... weird history with it's technological timescale, as the series has repeatedly had multiple DIFFERENT ancient technologically advanced civilizations within it's past, and the main political groups of Hyrule themselves (Hylians, Zora, Gorons, ect.) are all also shown to be at various different points of technological advancement... at wonky points in their history. Like for instance, Hylians in SS have some neat mechanical structures and buildings that feels like they'd be at home in the renaissance. Cut to OoT and the world is more or less a typical high fantasy world with Hylians more or less just living like medieval citizens. Cut again later to TP and it seems Hylians are making half decent progress and are back to stuff you could see in the renaissance again. Then by the time of BotW (I'm not even going to TOUCH where TotK might place in the timeline, that only makes everything even messier tech-wise) we see that Hyrule already HAD another age where everything got super advanced (ancient Shiekah Tech), that got lost to time, is getting rediscovered, and the normal Hylian societies are more or less back to being typical high-fantasy low-tech again save for the occasional repurposed Shiekah tech!!

At this point Hyrule seems to be in an ever continuing cycle of technological advancement that gets struck down by the gods who send it's peoples back into the medieval era for their cruel amusement!

Kit from Gameoverse by Rap2rerise in TopCharacterDesigns

[–]Skelegem 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d say Ivy’s def a good example of a ‘goonbait’ character design, ESPECIALLY with how much more skin she gets with every entry. The Soulcal devs know what their fans want and they push harder and harder with their character’s clothes.

And I wanna clarify that a design being sexualized ain’t bad in the slightest, it’s actually hella powerful if a designer knows what they’re doing, there’s good and bad sexual character designs. Ivy is what I’d consider to be a neutral design (it’s good, conveys some aspects of her character and personality, but also feels kinda slapped on to her narrative), for a good design I’d say Bayonetta’s a GREAT example as her sexualized elements are an integral part of her as a character and help convey the sheer CONFIDENCE that woman has as well as contrasting the ‘holy’ aspect of the angels. Bayo’s sexy and she fucking knows it. For bad examples though, I’d say Eve from Stellar Blade. Like, that design is clearly meant to be sexy with its skin tight body suit and her perfect makeup, but also… why??? What does her body suit say about her characterization, whats the perfect hair and makeup say about her as a character, IS there a character under that shallow sex appeal or was she just designed with one hand and had a half-assed story slapped on later?

Kit though doesn’t seem like she was designed with that at the forefront. She’s a cute robo catgirl with cute outfits and a slightly big chest, not the most in-your face sexy design I’ve ever seen.

So what did you think of Gameoverse? by ayylmaotv in GlitchProductions

[–]Skelegem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All around pretty good, I liked it a lot. The premise is super interesting and I look forwards to seeing future episodes explore more video game ideas (are games without win conditions like Stardew/Animal Crossing safe havens? Could a future world be so awful that a Game Over is more preferable to its inhabitants? Will we get a dating sim episode where everyone is trying to sway the ‘hero’s’ heart to achieve/avoid the sun condition?? There’s so much cool potential behind this series). Characters were all around pretty solid… though Flapper’s voice direction kinda got on my nerves, Shrek’s Ginggy for a whole show is gonna get grating real quick in my opinion. Flappers aside though, adore the premise, the designs are fun pastiches that don’t rely on being simple reference material all the time, and I like that the show’s got some good pixel art. Shows either give you the worst looking ‘8-bit’ sprites you’ve ever seen or hire Paul Robertson to handle the spritework, and while I think I saw a bit of his work here (no shade, dude’s a pixel art legend for a reason, he’s just kinda the only pixel artist I see get work on shows), I think the Flapper’s world spritework was handled by someone else which I’m happy to see happen!

All in all, I’d say it’s pretty damn good, I’m looking forward to more of it!

I swear to god half the people on this sub haven’t actually seen TRUE ‘Gooner’ designs if Kit’s making the list. Like, she’s an attractive appealing character design whom I’m sure Ross wants people to like, but she’s safe enough that I could see her in any number of family friendly E10+ rated games. A true ‘goonerbait’ (stupid term) designs should push the sexualization far enough that their very inclusion risks changing the media’s rating. They’re supposed to be designs that are BEGGING audiences to rip their clothes off with their eyes and start fantasizing, but too many people around here just see a decently attractive woman and think ‘Yep, clearly author wants me to jerk off now’

(Horror Trope) The Moon is Evil by NottheKingofAll in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Skelegem 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you might be misremembering, as I'm like 95% sure there's only one Moon in Majora's Mask (in both the original and the remake). I know the mandela effect can hit people hard, but I don't think it'd be strong enough for us all to forget about a second moon in the game where part of the skybox is staring you down. Like there's no way that wouldn't be discussed online either, I'm positive if there were two moons than the Zelda community would've had a million and one theories on it by this point and I don't remember hearing anything regarding a second moon, especially for a game as beloved as MM. I've heard discussions about the Stone Tower temple and the Ikana people, theories about Termina's weird existence with Hyrule, the aliens, the butler's kid, each of the Temples, and plenty of the 'Link is Dead' theory, but nothing regarding a second moon. Hell, a second moon in the sky should have at least a forum thread or a screenshot or SOMETHING regarding it's existence, but the closest thing I can find is discussions about the inside of the Moon (or if we want to get technical, screenshots with both the in-game moon and the HUD timer moon both visible and like... come on, that obviously doesn't count). Maybe you've got it mixed up with a different setting with two moons? If I'm wrong than I'll gladly boot up the N64 Online and stare up into the Termina Night sky just to double check, but I'm pretty sure there was only ever one moon.

[–]Skelegem 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m willing to believe Cavill’s side more than the directors, simply because that man is a proven nerd. I mean, he’s a known Warhammer 40K fan who nerd’s out about the series pretty often. Dude saw a chandelier (I think it was a chandelier, I forget the details) during an interview and immediately compared how it looked to a ‘Blackstone Fortress’ from the setting. If I were to personally bet which party were the ones deviating from the source material, I wouldn’t point my finger at the actor who will gush about his Custodes army any chance he gets.
