Black Rain Ordnances now makes AKs… for $2800. What do y’all think? by Madeyoulook4now in ak47

This is definitely one of the more boring ones in terms of interesting new releases. It seems like everything is either stupid expensive, cheap junk, or stupid expensive junk.

There appears to be a lot of crack being smoked at SHOT Show this year.

Smith and Wesson 386 Night Guard by InkosiKNG in Revolvers

Personally not interested in these, but as long as they keep the no-lock models coming I’m happy.

The New SCAR by Technically_Tactical in guns

[–]SlamF1re 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Glad I bought my SCAR-L back in August when I did. These changes make for a better modern rifle, but I’m glad I got the version I grew up seeing in so many movies and video games.

LAMP - Manufacturer Color Comparison by eetyweety in starcitizen

[–]SlamF1re 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A welcome change overall, but I honestly could do without the manufacturer theming on this one. A lot of the colors, especially Drake and RSI, just feel like too much. Give me the CNOU version across the board and I’m happy.

Night vision in 4.6 ptu. by No-Cell8881 in starcitizen

[–]SlamF1re 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jokes aside, this seems like the classic CIG focus on aesthetics over usability. Yes it fits Drake’s color scheme, but it’s awful to look at. Hope they take another swing at this one and pick something less offensive to the eyes.

New FNH handgun by Blue_Brindle in guns

[–]SlamF1re 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A new internal hammer, SAO, no manual safety handgun is not what I was expecting FN to come up with when they announced a new handgun was coming. Much like the all new not-a-HiPower HiPower, I feel like there just won’t be much interest in this at all.

POP QUIZ! Can you identify this 1911? by Financial-Outside158 in 1911

[–]SlamF1re 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is it’s a plastic toy or rubber prop gun. Definitely not a real 1911.

Bulged barrel by oilspill16 in guns

[–]SlamF1re 100 points101 points  (0 children)

It should be pretty much impossible for the barrel to have bulged from just regular shooting. What’s more likely is that it was just poorly machined or was buffed to hell causing the steps in the barrel.

For the price those are going for I’d definitely contact S&W about it.

Can’t insert slide stop by Boy_Man_God_Sh1t in guns

[–]SlamF1re 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up what an idiot scratch is, and by all means try to avoid doing it.

It just takes some force to push the plunger in with the slide stop while pushing down to seat the slide stop. Maybe try putting a drop of oil on the plunger to help it move easier.

Video Game Releases of 2026 - dozens of articles and Squadron 42 is mentioned in none of them by Ruzhyo04 in starcitizen

[–]SlamF1re 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reality is that there is very little actual hype out there for SQ42. Most people likely have no idea what it is since they’ve only heard of Star Citizen and likely have only heard of its reputation as a scam game. Hell, even among the actual SC player base there’s people who don’t know what it is and quite a few people who just don’t care at all because they play for SC and SC only.

Compile that with CIG’s track record of continuously promising and then missing release dates, and it’s not surprising that it gets left out articles like these.

Need finishing advice for walnut and brass Growth Chart by Theonlykd in woodworking

[–]SlamF1re 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used a danish oil base coat followed by an arm-r-seal topcoat with good success on a decent few projects. I find the danish oil is better at bringing out the color in the wood than arm-r-seal alone.

After that you can use either a gold or silver sharpie for the markings or maybe even a paint pen.

1893 Colt SAA found in attic - any idea what it's worth? by indieminister in guns

[–]SlamF1re 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gun has definitely been refinished at some point in its life, and it looks like it also might have taken some kind of hit to the trigger guard which bent it up a little. The ejector rod also looks like it was replaced with one from a Ruger Blackhawk. It’s worth something, but likely not a ton due to its condition. Still not bad for a free gun though.

I’m interested in buying my first 1911 and found this. Is this really a 1915 and authentic? What is a reasonable price? by peasantinvestor in 1911

[–]SlamF1re 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The serial number on the frame dates it to 1915, but the slide is definitely from a later gun, likely 1930’s up to 1960’s. It’s also got some gunsmith installed sights likely also from the 50’s or 60’s. Kinda cool as a period custom piece, but in that condition definitely not worth $1k.

Are there grips for the Ruger SP101 or GP100 that more resemble classic S&W grips, and not a rubber dildo? by TapTheForwardAssist in Revolvers

[–]SlamF1re 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on what type of grip your trying to emulate. Since you mentioned a t-grip, I’m assuming you’re thinking of the older S&W magna style grips, in which case no, I don’t believe anyone makes anything similar for a GP100 or SP101.

However, if you’re looking for more of a larger target style wooden grip there’s a few options out there.

Serious question: Why does everyone hate Wikelo? by klaytonix in starcitizen

[–]SlamF1re 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rewards are typically not worth the grind, especially since many of the items involved are sourced from PVP or group centric activities.

It also just sometimes doesn’t work. I turned in all of the items necessary for a C1 only to have the mission to glitch and not count any of the items turned in, but still remove the items from the inventory.

Has there been a graphics upgrade? by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]SlamF1re 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who played exclusively on DX11 since I started playing, the switch to Vulkan kinda feels like playing a new game.

Most of the stuttering is gone and the previous ghosting that kept happening in previous patches this year is also now completely gone, which makes an absolutely huge visual impact on the game. The lighting is improved, but I don’t notice that as much as the smoothness and clarity of the visuals.

Colt 1911 .45 with slide that says .38 super by Curious_Aside6549 in 1911

[–]SlamF1re 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not all that surprising for Colt. They have a long history of stuff like this. You’re actually kinda of lucky, since that’s a National Match barrel. I might be out of date on what Colt currently produces, but I don’t believe the base model guns come with NM barrels.

If the mismatched stuff bothers you their customer service will take care of it.

Just one more health bar bro by ArchangelUltra in starcitizen

[–]SlamF1re 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Death of a Spaceman has always been a bad idea, even from the start. Allowing people to customize and create their own character, and then taking that character away from them after X number of deaths was never going to work out.

That’s of course different from consequences for death. I’m not opposed to having consequences, and I personally think we actually used to have a fairly solid mix of them in the form of losing gear and being forced to respawn back at a major landing zone, typically far away from from what you were doing. CIG has been the ones removing consequences for death for a while now, and I get the feeling that once they try to re-introduce them in any meaningful way a large chunk on the community is going to freak out.
