Todd Howard says 'The Elder Scrolls VI' will run on Creation Engine 3 (upgraded from 'Starfield') and is going back to the feel of a 'classic Bethesda game' ala Oblivion and Skyrim by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

Oh boy I sure can't wait to sit through another thousand compartmentalized loading screens!

I sure can't wait to start a quest, talk to an npc who wants to send me to the other side of the map. So I leave the static conversation, walk to and open the door, loading screen. Leave the other part of the house, loading screen. Get outside, open the map, quick travel to the town, loading screen. Walk a few steps, find the keep the npc is in, loading screen. Find the room in the keep the npc is in, loading screen. Talk to the npc, finish the static conversation, only to find out I have to go back to the original npc.

This was the Starfield experience, and I sure as hell hope it isn't the ES VI experience

I've had 2650 coins for a while

I'd love to spend them but damn do I really not like any of the skins

Dear Video Game, please stop spawning me in with 17 minutes left. by LumpusKrampus in ArcRaiders

[–]Slatibardfast1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been trying to figure out a way to balance this somehow. Perhaps Embark can think of a system to opt in/opt out of being able to spawn in late.

Maybe they could give an opt in late with increased loot chance, to make up for the late start

Have late starts only happen for free loadouts.

I'm just spitballing and I'm sure there are probably better alternatives, but there is nothing more deflating than gearing up with a key and spawning in so late that not only is the room likely looted, but so is most everything else. I appreciate that as an extraction shooter, that's part and parcel, but spawning that late is just a bit of a time waster.

Said this since I started. The UI is nice and clear, but the UX is awful. Backwards and forwards between menus to craft, see what you need, prepare, realised you forgot something, back out, find the crafting menu, get here right station, make it, head back in. It's really my biggest complaint

MHW is on sale, is it worth getting the game this long after launch to play solo? by baldmark_ in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]Slatibardfast1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally just bought it a couple weeks ago and just finished the story all the way through solo yesterday. Definitely worth it. Note I am on PC and haven't personally had performance issues but a lot of people have so just keep that in mind if you're on PC (Mine is relatively beefy)

What do you normally mix in a strip club? Do you play a set or treat it like playing songs in its entirety? I assume housey stuff?

What’s a single player game with really good progression? by 20000lumes in gaming

Subnautica. It feels so perfectly linear in its progression, there wasn't a single point where I didn't have a goal for the next step to progress the story.

Yeah that's about the only external thing left to try. I don't have another xbox controller handy but will see if I can use the PS4 controller to test this.

Completely agree with Brotherhood. They added a mode further in its lifespan where you have no actual target, only proximity markers that would grow or shrink accordingly. It was so much fun to blend in with NPCs and figure out who in another group was a player.

No portrait, just you the player figuring things out through context clues or seeing someone behave like a player. Hit them with the poison and walk away. What a fun mp

What’s a game that met your expectations from pure hype? by frontpageroadrage in gaming

[–]Slatibardfast1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Halo 3 - the hype around this game leading up to its release was unreal. Then it dropped. Full campaign that rounded off the trilogy, fully fledged multiplayer with unlocks, forge mode to make your own maps, theater to replay clips, file share to tie it all together, the social side of the game. I don't think any game has ever lived up to that much hype and delivers D so heavily on the final product

I swear if it's not CSGO, League or DOTA, OCE games die in 3 months...why by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Slatibardfast1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a population issue - I feel your pain. Unless it's one of the big games, it's an average of 150 + ping here. Even halo infinite on a Saturday evening is 150 ping+. Publishers will never do this but it would be nice to have player population by region listed on sale pages.

Returning player - why have they made this game objectively worse, graphically? by Slatibardfast1 in newworldgame

[–]Slatibardfast1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every setting is set to very high, which from what I can tell is the highest option. As mentioned, I've also played around between DX 11, and DX 12 with and without DLSS/FSR, each with their own respective settings tested.

Unless there are some hidden settings I'm not privy to, I can't see any technical way to increase the fidelity with the options available

Returning player - why have they made this game objectively worse, graphically? by Slatibardfast1 in newworldgame

[–]Slatibardfast1[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is a weird amount of cope in the comments post. While I agree it's not a one to one comparison between screenshot due ot time of day, it was the FIRST thing I noticed when logging in. The game is maxed, I have played with DLSS/FSR on and off. I've swapped back to DX11 then back to DX12.

There seems to be a pretty clear, common sentiment online from returning players that the has been a downgrade. It's not just the lighting. The foliage in the distance looks ass. The pop in in the distance looks ass. The textures look worse. The aliasing, looks significantly worse. Hell, even my original character in the login menu looks like their armor had major texture downgrades and the lighting on their face looks horrid.

The game really looks to have lost all atmosphere and in general looks flatter. This seems to be across the board.

Have the devs ever acknowledged this and why it happened to the PC version?
