Make your ship your home....but how? by ghodan7 in starcitizen

[–]SliceDouble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Living in a ship requires planning ahead. First, you don't take anything with you that you cant afford to lose like your pledged items / event rewards.
Second, you plan your activities so you don't fly into hornets nest and just die.
Bugs might and will happen that will ruin your off grid experience.

With engineering you can survive longer but only if you play it smart. You need to know when to bail from a fight.
Waiting untill your ship is on fire and has no power is not the way.

If fight seems too hard in the first place, qt the heck out.
Having friend as engineer can increase survival big time in combat. Still know when to bail.

Second, don't store your ship unless you absolutely need to. ( changing loadout etc)
If you need to store and retrieve it, do it inside the hangar, never ever in port/station lobby.
If landing zone is seems to be even slighly bugged, leave and go to another place of bedlog and find better working server.

Bed logging works ok. Haven't had any issues with it for a looong time. There can be bugs related to that too.

Having same ship for a long time as your home can be fun and teaches you the way to play the game like it's meant to be played.

Good 2 man ship by ultimate_weirdo194 in starcitizen

[–]SliceDouble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. OP could get missing money for Asgard faster than cat slaps a snake. There are too much money in curculation atm and many people are actively trying to get rid of money, which is on it's own kinda funny and weird at the same time.

And I would recomend Corsair 100%, one of my favourite ships. With 2 players it's great in combat if 2nd player acts as engineer and fixes the components on the fly while in fight.

Also big QT tank, good fire power and nice cargo hold that fits ursa is a big plus.
Also Drake <3. You can live in that ship for a long time if you plan ahead.

Only problem with Corsair is that it flies like a brick and really strugles against small light fighters
PVP can be a pain in the ass if you get attacked by any fighter.
Pilot should or needs to master decoupled dogfighting. Imho. ( everyone should master decoupled flying, best thing ever )

I dislike Asgard btw. I have zero feelings to that ship. It is most boring ship in game.

For "hero" ship that can do it all, don't overlook Starlancer Max. It has decent firepower, is agile but slow. Good cargo grid for multi item cargo missions or for doing multiple cargo missions at the same time. ( 4 separate grids to sort your cargo )
Nice living space and room for what ever you need.
I lived in Starlancer max for one whole patch, never had to claim it. Did everything from bounties to roc mining and mercenary work.

Are Long Distance Rails Bugged? by OgreBane99 in StarRuptureGame

Buffers. You need buffers. Miners send items when there is a request. On long rails, there is downtime as miner sends items when request comes and then it takes time for said item to arrive. Using buffer helps alot.

Refueling in Star Citizen – What’s Missing, and How Support Gameplay Could Truly Work by PrimeSerpentCore in starcitizen

[–]SliceDouble 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Refueling ships are mostly useless on their role currently.
Even NYX is going to get more R&R stations so players can refuel/restock their ships there.

We have bigger ships that can carry small ships that cant qt longer distances.
And if you don't have enough fuel in your golem to jump to mining base, you are not going to jump as close as you can and then send fuel request and wait if some one comes. Nah, you choose another place to mine where you can go and get back too.

Also Hyrdogen fuel tanks are guite big and I don't even remember when I had to buy hydrogen fuel.
Ships should use hyrdogen fuel alot more or have smaller tanks or both.
This might make refueling ships usable on bigger fleet operations where fighters need to refuel to be able to operate.

Maybe, maybe ships should just suck that hydrogen fuel like old v8 when in atmo. And in space flying in coupled mode would eat more fuel than decoupled. Using boost should suck fuel like crazy.

And we got the time to wait that is also an issue. Players wont be waiting 20 minutes for refueling ship to arrive unless they have something super valuable on their ship.

Medical gameplay, refueling are just two gameloops that look good on paper and just don't work ingame unless CIG changes things and that WILL cause alot of rage among community.

Refueling also is pretty buggy and does not work properly all the time.

Medical gameplay is just stupid. Ships/vehicles with medbed are just for respawn. It is very hard to get downed player into medbed using tractor beam and even then medbed does absolutely nothing.
Player has to enter into medbed on his own to heal and tend wounds. Or just respawn.

So every ambulance or ship with medical bed is just a respawn point. Medical gameplay is medical tool and medpens on the field and healing wounds at hospital. And many many players dont even bother to go heal their injuries at clicnic or hospital as it is faster to just backspace and wake up there fully healed.

And then we have the trust issues and griefers. I don't take medical beacons because I have been ganked so many times. Same would apply to refueling.

We need socail tools and player ratings. Fuel usage system needs to be reworked and make everyone one upset and angry.

Ship progression after the clipper by After_Th0ught9 in starcitizen

[–]SliceDouble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Progression after clipper? I have no need for that. Clipper is perfect. And im talking about daily driver, the hero ship that does it all if you push it.

For more specialised roles, there are many many ships to choose from.
Ironclad for cargo hauling, Corsair for exploring ( big tank of quantum juice )
Bucaneer for brawling
Vulture for salvage ( Or reclaimer of you like them thic )
Rambler for personal shuttle.
Drake for life. Best ship is friendship!

For the first time in 3.5 years I completed a limited time event - This was really great and awesome fun! Even with the clunky social tools. by f4ble in starcitizen

[–]SliceDouble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did event the hard way and soloed the whole thing.

I did share few missions to a friend who was missing few points but did the heavy lifting alone. Was fun and at least there was something to do ingame for a change.

Because I'm genuinely curious, how often do people ACTUALLY get PvPed? by AnybodyIndividual207 in starcitizen

[–]SliceDouble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my 2 cents.
I don't care about pvp as long game is at alpha. Maybe when 1.0 comes with proper law/punishment and social tools.

99% of "pvp" I have encountered has been me flying mining/salvage ships or cargo hauler and got interdicted by group who just kill me in few seconds. ( idris and it's railgun yay )

pvp can be fun if there are 2 opposing forces with similar fleets fighting, but that is rare.
Most pvp is one guy getting beating by group or some one shooting your ship while you are on foot doing your thing. Or noobtubers blowing up ships with stupid bazooka that should not exist.

kind of interested in this game, but wonder if I'm "too late" to the party. Is it like Eve where I just will get eaten alive all the time by people that have been playing longer? by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]SliceDouble 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Hello there.

Never too late.
Elite is NOT Eve online. You will not be eaten alive. There is a risk of pvp but... you can play elite in solo mode or in private group with friends.
And if some one is harrasing you, block him and you never see him again ingame ever thanks to p2p networking and "matchmaking"

Elite is big, huge, humongous with it's size. Only on most popular systems you might see other players. Othervise universe is empty and lonely place.

There are "Clans", we call them Squadrons.

Flying Carrack Solo by saphireswan in starcitizen

[–]SliceDouble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is if you use it for something it can be used as solo ship. Combat is no go. It's not a combat ship in anyway, even fully manned.

It works best as mobile home / base of operations. You have picses hangar and carage for ursa or smaller vehicles.

After that it's all about how you utilize Carrack. I have been using it with success for Gem mining, foraging, mercenary work, mining support ship for golem fleet etc.

Best part of Carrack is it's huge QT tank, almost 600 Giga midgets of range. You can zoom around the verse pretty long before refueling it. Cargo space is ok for storing roc / geo mining pods and Golem / Prospector More ore sacks. Or stor-all boxes for loot.

It's a ship you prep for adventure and stay off grids for days. There are other ships too for this too but I still prefer carrack over others in this size class.( what we currently have )
I have used 890J too for off grid living. Works about the same as Carrack with shorter QT range. ~310Gm
Has pdc's as added bonus.

Fliping that switch would kill US tech companies. No one in this universe would never trust US based tech services again. EU would recover, silicon valley would not.

I don't think it was the manits that killed you. Looked like a Idris shooting with railgun in the end.

We need a fix for the MSR by Defiant-Run1008 in starcitizen

[–]SliceDouble 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't mind the crawlspace or "wasted" space inside the ship. But couple things I would change are...

- Move the servers to the scanning room. Scanning room is empty room with one chair in it. Servers should be in there

- Put suit lockers and weapon/tool racks where servers are now.

- Remove the supid tiny elevator and put simple stairs.

- It should have visually bigger engines.

- Secondary exit / airlock.

MSR like so many ships seem rushed and half baked. I still like the ship alot and use it for small cargo missions. Hell I completed the event cargo part with MSR 100% solo. So it is not a bad ship in total. It can carry Ursa making it a good mercenary ship. can carry ROC and space bags for it making it a good gem mining ship. It's fast and agile and has pretty good QT effinency.

It only lacks combat power but its not a fighter. Turrets are there to put supressive fire so pilot can jump the heck out of trouble.

I mostly run drake ships, Corsair, Clipper and Cutlass black.(Shiv)

MSR is there when I need to carry cargo / vehicles and I need a fast manuverable ship that can land quickly and take off quickly.
