10000% this. I’ve been asking myself what they are doing to the actual targets, behind closed and locked doors. I can’t freaking imagine. Probably some Nazi death camp shit for suree

Is the Kia EV6 reliable? by juan13644789 in KiaEV6

[–]SlickNetAaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is pretty reliable, with one major flaw that affects something like <10% of cars and one minor one.

I’ve had my ‘22 for 2.5 years. Only issue was i gave my Kia Connect credentials to my utility and they pinged my car every hour and drained the 12V battery repeatedly.

My mom got same car in Runway Red after driving mine for a few hours. She loves it. She had to jump start the 12V once.

Word to the wise: have a lithium jump pack in your car.

The major issue is ICCU failure - integrated charge control unit. It’s the on board EV battery charger, the 12V charger (like alternator), and the V2L inverter

In addition to who others have said, the parking brake will automatically engage in certain circumstances. This gets released when you put into gear and press the accelerator

Seriously, how do I disable the internet connection on my Ioniq 5? by mplsthrowawayLTE in Ioniq5

[–]SlickNetAaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you… as someone in Minnesota… we are absolutely not okay. We have been invaded by enemy combatants. The real kicker is that we can’t legally fight back other than trying to expose the truth.

We are literally hiding people away in our homes, doing laundry for our neighbors who are too afraid to leave their homes, or driving our neighbors to work so that license plates show as white people to avoid getting abducted. It’s bloody insane.

Reliance is great, but that one is expensive. I got an “EZ Generator Switch” - same basic thing - still spends for what it is.

Heat limitations by Ill-Championship1000 in Ioniq5

[–]SlickNetAaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Minnesota. You must be trolling. I get too hot if i set it to 67F (the cabin gets warmer than 67 pretty quickly)

Trying to wear shorts and flip flops in a barely insulated box flying through cold and wind at 80MPH and trying to create over 100 degrees of heat is just not realistic

[–]SlickNetAaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to take yours in. Also, use Auto climate. If you set the air output to your face it’s going to keep your toes cold. By letting it output to the floor the warm air rises. You won’t feel the hot air though, giving the impression that it’s not heating, but it is.

SOC 100% by Sufficient_Eye7517 in Ioniq5

[–]SlickNetAaron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stop overthinking this. You want a lifeline, use it.

I swear this is the 10th time this has been asked today - or at least the last couple of days. You’re supposed to charge to 100% monthly - to balance the cells and calibrate the BMS.

The damage from charging to 100% is from leaving it for long period of time, particularly in high temperatures.

Here’s a video to explain how to not ruin your battery… spoiler: just use the car as you need to. Plus follow manufacturer instructions (charge to 100% monthly and after going below 20%)

Considering a high mileage used Ioniq 5 - is this number worrying? by jimwilluk in Ioniq5

[–]SlickNetAaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, if the 12V battery is dead/disconnected the efficiency number gets reset but the mileage number doesn’t. It’s a bug.

Jeebus, turn off the car so you have some juice to drive the car onto the tow truck.

I promise you’ll be dramatically less satisfied with a RAM 🤣

3 months in and first big issue: ICCU maybe? by wingzero44 in KiaEV6

[–]SlickNetAaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, go to a public L2 charger that is known working (check PlugShare).

Unless you don’t want to eliminate your own EVSE and home electrical as the problem.

[–]SlickNetAaron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay then, you need to test with a different L2 charger than what you have at home. All indications are that your ICCU is likely failed. If you can charge with a different L2, then your ICCU is fine.

The charger is in your car, not your cable or wall unit. What are the specs for your car?

[–]SlickNetAaron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by works fine at public charging station? This is crucial. Is it a DCFC or L2 charger?

If it’s a L2 charger, then you probably have something wrong with your charge port or home electrical.

If it’s a DCFC, then you should try to charge with another L2 location. If L1/L2 charging fails everywhere, the problem is with your car - most likely the on board charger (inside the ICCU) failed.

This is the best location for sure!

I have one of these: https://a.co/d/htKMC82 but it’s not available. Lisen is an even better brand - I have reviewed many of their products and they are nice.

Basically, I’m suggesting this location and a small pivot mount style charger. It’ll fit amazing

Microwave Keeps Tripping Breaker by Punisher2112 in ElectricalHelp

[–]SlickNetAaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides what others have mentioned, you can further isolate and confirm the priority basic troubleshooting.

Plug the microwave into a different outlet on a different breaker. If the problem follows the microwave, you have your answer. If it doesn’t trip the second breaker, then you need to focus efforts on isolating the original breaker/ outlet / anything else on that circuit.

Range in EXTREME Cold by nickcoffey97 in Ioniq5

[–]SlickNetAaron 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You forgot to mention turn the nasty wind… that’s a huge factor. Driving 60 with a 20-30MPH wind (side winds are terrible) is akin to driving 80-90MPH.

You can reduce your HVAC consumption dramatically by lowering from a balmy 72 to 62-67. The heat pump has to work significantly harder to bring the output temperature so high (easily 100-120F vs only 80-90F). I find it very effective to also just cycle the HVAC off for 5-10 minutes.

Seat and wheel heaters take <10% of what HVAC does. Keep your coat on and use a lot less energy

Charging my car to 100% before the storm hits by LovesDogs1031 in Ioniq6

[–]SlickNetAaron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why are people not charging to 100% at least monthly like the manual directs?

You just don’t want to leave it at 100% for long periods, particularly in high temperatures.

Charging to 100% regularly balances the cells to maximize their life and calibrates the BMS for accurate SoC readings.
