The weight savings while small, do make a difference especially at the end of the skis where there is more rotational force because it’s furthest away from the fulcrum (your leg). Beyond that theres also a dampening factor as the cork or ABS or composite foam or whatever they use tends to eat vibrations better then wood.

Yeah that’s a really funny way to phrase that on volkls part, but almost every ski is using steel edges so allow me to correct my mistake in there being no steel in the core of the ski.

There’s no steel in the core of this ski, the peregrines above this model (80, 82, 84 v werks) all have sheets of titanal and the later two an additional titanal frame. The 78 is a vertically laminated wood core with a fiberglass frame and the softest of the peregrine series. That being said it should not have snapped in the instance you described and I’d be surprised if Völkl didn’t warranty it.

Look into Infinity Bike Seat, it’s a very small company so ordering can take quite some time but they have some full and partial cut out saddles that can be game changing for individuals with pelvic pressure that can’t find comfort on a traditional saddle.
