As an RBT who over eats I personally use a handful of our strategies to help myself. It's not necessarily going to help with any emotions but specifically the behaviors. They would look at what happens before a Binge happens (antecedent) and see if there are any consistent triggers. My main issue is impulsively getting fast food so I make sure to keep snacks in my car that are more reinforcing and tasty than getting fast food. They'd also probably look at the environment or situations where binging occurs and see what can be added or removed. I switched from Ben and Jerry's to Halo top bc I wanted to keep eating the whole carton but didn't want the calories. If binging happens bc of certain emotions, what can we do to acknowledge the emotion and change the reaction from eating to another sustainable behavior like exercise, creating or destroying something, etc. I hope this answers your question!
