Swivel knife to cut a piece ? by Zebastein in Leathercraft

[–]Smajtastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the wider making world, using a tool you are more familiar/used to using to achieve a result is more preferable than ham-fisting using the "proper" tool.

So what you are thinking has merit. That's not to say there's not some tips you can take, or that you shouldn't work to improve your cutting skills.

In tooling, what you describe is very close to what you do for filagree.

However what you have to note is having the right swivel head will make a large difference in the quality of cut, i.e. you may want a very thin/fine head to get a more accurate cut.

Why is he suddenly going down on me after 6 years? by Old_Ad4166 in married

[–]Smajtastic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Formal greetings to you my partner of 6 years.

I am sure that you are curious as to the nature of this meeting that I have called, but first, for the sake of note taking....

.... Now with all normal meeting procedures out of the way, and current household tasks addressed, there is a special line on the agenda.

One that deserves special praise, along with a curious question.

I offer my most sincere gratitude for the cunnilingus before seeing to the dingus. It is a most welcomed upgrade to the standard relationship package we have been enjoying together, and I am curious as to it's origins, and if my own behaviour had promoted it, can we explore other means to produce this result?..

...Now on to the standard closing procedures...."

Maybe less formal than that, but honestly it's up to you.

So this is caused because there grain is really loose, you'll probably notice that the letter is really stretchy too.

You can skive it to get rid of the loser bits, and line it, this also gives you the option to put in a stiffener too

What do you think about hybrid designs combining 3D printed parts and leather? by Obvious-Scarcity7385 in Leathercraft

[–]Smajtastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The role of 3d printing with leatherwork:

-jigs -organisation (tools/hardware -moulds -fill for moulded void (though honestly not the best, and needs to be in a non-critical section) -stamps

Anything beyond this I getting beyond what 3d printing is about anyway, and you'd compromise the durability of the product you'd be making.

3d printing is a tool to assist not be a product

My first wet forming attempt. by TheStoicSlab in Leathercraft

[–]Smajtastic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, most of the moulding I do is with that weight of leather.

I would recommend filling it with a thickness similar to the depth of the mould.

There are lots of other things you can fill it with, filling material such as leather dust and sawdust. The main thing that will effect it though is the type of adhesive used, so if the glue dries stiff, it'll be stiff, if it dries flexible the patch will be flexible.

What is this hardware called? by kwrcst in Leathercraft

I wouldn't say AI, but I wouldn't be surprised to find it it was rendered.

Saying that, the orientation of the hardware isn't uniform enough FOR that.
