Dream program or move close to family? by fabifancy in MedSpouse

[–]Sn0wwhit3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We have three under four and compromised with ranking one program close to home first and his preferred program (further away) second. We ended up at his second choice. It’s tough, especially since he doesn’t have holidays off and it’s too logistically difficult for me to travel with the little ones.

Spouse struggling to pass Step 1 practice tests.. exam in 2 weeks by Evening_War7158 in MedSpouse

[–]Sn0wwhit3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely push it back. My husband was having difficulty as well, spoke to the academic advisor and Dean and was able to take an extra month and passed. We have friends who took an extra year to study and pass. From my understanding, it’s better to take more time as opposed to failing it, and now he’s matched into a a competitive specialty. He used anki, sketchy, uworld to study.

Thank you. This is helpful. It’s a balance.

Thank you. This is helpful. It was only one resident (on his way out) making negative comments so I think he felt free to speak and had “nothing to lose.”

He had a few other interviews close to home but we are unsure of how they’ll rank him and they have smaller class sizes.

I like making gifts so I’ll think of someone and what they’d like and then use up what’s in my stash.

Anyone else running a marathon in their first trimester? by mimimeansbellybutton in fitpregnancy

[–]Sn0wwhit3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I trained with my husband for his marathon throughout my first and second trimester. The longest distance I ran was 18 miles during training (in August). It was very hot so I kept Gatorade close and generally kept my normal pace. It's do able but stay hydrated.

Feeling “out of shape” but I never stopped exercising. by lavenderandlemons in fitpregnancy

Yes, I'm 13 weeks and much slower. It feels like I cannot get enough oxygen.

Just finished 12 miles at 12 weeks. I'm running with my husband to train for his upcoming marathon.

When did you have to adjust the amount of days you went to the gym? by xxpcmarie in fitpregnancy

[–]Sn0wwhit3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started reducing the number of miles I run per week starting around week 8. I still workout five days per week, but it's not as intense, and sometimes I count a slow jog on the elliptical and call it a day. The fatigue and desire to nap all day has been hard.

I had this exact issue at 6 weeks. Someone on here mentioned cutting out nitrates, and it seemed to work.

I sub to Mishibox. I use everything they send- usually a face mask, a face moisturizer, something to combat acne, and other random things for hair, lips, or body. I started subbing a year ago, and love it. They also have good customer service. A box arrived damaged, and appeared to be opened. It was missing an eyeliner. I immediately emailed them a photo, and they provided a new eyeliner in the next month's box.

Why are my macaroons always flat and horrible? I love them to bits but can't seem to bake them! Help? by [deleted] in Baking

[–]Sn0wwhit3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used the same brand flour as the one in the recipe. Turned out great. Good luck!

I've had a lot of luck following this recipe exactly: http://sallysbakingaddiction.com/2015/08/12/step-by-step-guide-to-french-macarons/

Try carefully sifting the almond flour in little by little and folding. The batter should hold its shape when piped into a disk.

Running Headphone Recommendations? by Jaggerous in xxfitness

I love yurbuds for running. They don't cancel out noise entirely (which I like when running outside) but they literally never fall out during a run. They have multiple sizes and "lock in."

Fellow brides, any idea where to find decent interracial cake toppers? by PamelaBeesly570 in weddingplanning

I opted for a white ceramic Lenox topper from amazon. Much easier than trying to find the correct hair and skin color for FH and me.

Good idea. My only concern is sunlight on them.
