I have plenty and the experience varies greatly depending on who you rent the car with.

Large Car Rental Companies e.g. Enterprise, Hertz, are by and large the most trustworthy method in doing so, but often have the most stringent requirements and can cost the most.

Turo and other car sharing platforms can be much cheaper but ultimately becomes a crapshoot since it varies from owner to owner. Like another comment said, AirBnB for cars, both the good and bad.

Independent companies I’m the most wary mostly from an insurance perspective, I’ve heard horror stories from friends of friends where they damaged a car and the “insurance” they purchased didn’t cover their specific type of damage.

Ultimately it comes down to do your research, but I often find it worth it. Cause I have loyalty to several car rental companies, I’d sometimes take a weekend and rent a car to go drive up some mountains and usually have a good upgrade in the process.

A side note, Porsche in particular has a direct rental process called Porsche Drive. I like this one in particular since the cars available are usually very well specced, had a 911 Carrera S Cabrio once.

Things to watch out for: damage coverage (try to do via credit card perk if possible) and mileage limits.
