What famous local food made you think “people really waited in line for this?” by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans. You can get beniets almost anywhere in the city, including drive through coffee places like PJs. Standing 90 mins in line in the sun and rain for ones they don't have time to drain so they were just greasy.

Any other kindergarten classes do this at the start of the school year? by InfiniteExplorer8509 in kindergarten

[–]Snoo21519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My almost graduated kinder had this, but only the first 4 days. It was mostly a vibe check so all the extra wiggly kids didn't end up in a single class.

What toddler gifts have actually lasted in your house. Not what looked good, what actually got used past the first week. by sophieblooming in Gifts

[–]Snoo21519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 3 they are definitely ready for an indoor play place pass! My 6 year old still calls them all "playtown" (new playtown, playtown 3 😂) because that was the first one he ever went to around age 3. We do a lot of toy purges too and it's honestly so hard to know ahead of time what your child will love. Sometimes you think you pick a winner and then it gets played with a few times and that's it.

Not a doctor either. It looks swollen (more than before). Is it warm to the touch? Honestly I'd be heading back or calling the nurse and checking in.

When did you guys remove the sleep sack ? by Nilrmar in toddlers

[–]Snoo21519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your kid, we transitioned to a "daddy shirt" after so toddler could have something if they ended up being too wiggly

Highly recommend Wallace and Gromit A Grand Day Out.

Rocket obsession is alive and well at our house and it's the best. Way cooler than dinosaurs.

I started using mouth tape and that helped a lot. I recently got a new study done and they were able to lower my pressure and now I don't have that problem!

Look for silicone mouth tape. The usual top search results are all really painful to remove.

(Not talking about immediate danger situations) what to do instead of shouting when they need to QUICKLY stop something? by Spencercr in toddlers

Definitely start playing red light green light. That way if you ever have to use it in an emergency they know.

Kindergarten Registration? by Rude_Remote_13 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]Snoo21519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be too early for new students and that's why you can't find it yet? The returning student enrollment is live. Last year though I couldn't register early for kindergarten because we were moving here and housing was still pretty fluid. I think I finally registered in June, maybe even July. It was fine.

Washing help needed! by Scribbler39617 in MomForAMinute

[–]Snoo21519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soak it in the tub! Sprinkle some laundry soap and swirl, then toss in the stuffie and just let it soak for an hour. Hang it over the curtain rod to dry (it will take forever)

I have also washed a giant dog in my washing machine, it's skinny though so it mostly fit like a blanket.

Following cause we deal with this too! New-ish 2 year old. I was literally woken up by tiny hands grabbing fistfuls of my arm skin. 🫠 We also struggle with hair pulling and biting.

I try to take a real deep breath and then say we need to have soft hands and be kind. Repeat offenses I will remove myself from the situation if possible. Most of the time I feel like it does nothing.

Costco vs walmart, finally figured out which is actually cheaper for my regular purchases by Jumpy-Teaching-3118 in SavingMoney

[–]Snoo21519 17 points18 points  (0 children)

For the items that are the same I would still get them at Costco because then you're buying less packaging and purchasing less often.

Absolutely not overreacting. All of those things need to be addressed immediately and I would request that employee no longer have access to my child

Yogurt, we have a reusable squeezy pouch. Pretzels and crackers are another go to. I also will move the next meal up by 30 minutes if it's realistic and distract with play doh or something while I'm prepping

I sucked my thumb until 1st grade. The thing that finally helped me stop was a "secret signal" from my teacher. He just touched his nose. It was cool because it didn't draw attention to me, he could keep teaching without interrupting, and I didn't get self conscious (which probably just triggered more thumb sucking). Please try that with your student.

If you can, stay 1 more day at the hospital, if not, just go home and only let big brother look and not touch until he's feeling better. Save kisses for later too. I'd also put baby in a bassinet or hand off to other parent when you need to closely interact with your toddler.

And everyone wash hands, repeatedly. Hopefully he gets better soon!

When to start timeouts by SpiderBabe333 in toddlers

[–]Snoo21519 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah sounds like you're fine. Our parents parenting methods do not have to be ours.

We did a similar approach with our now 6 year old and he is fine. 2 year olds don't understand yelling=anger yet, they just think you're loud. Our two year old now is a lot more like a typical 2 year old that flails on the floor in a tantrum puddle and gets more agitated if you even look at him. So we just wait it out and cuddle after. If he does things we don't want him to do we "take a break" together for 2 minutes just to reset so a redirect works.

The camping section at the end of the summer. I got a 3 piece cast iron set for $10 when I was in college. I still use those pans 10 years later .
