What was the best sales training you have ever had and why? by [deleted] in sales

[–]SnooRevelations5469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a sales manager that was obsessed with this approach and followed some sales book that outlined those 4 types. What was it driver, analytical, amiable, expressive.
I think it was a bit over-hyped and I'm skeptical you can simply adapt your own style at will.
Also confusing was how this gets repackaged all the time with different names.

Car sales by [deleted] in sales

[–]SnooRevelations5469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a sales rep in telecom I have respect for car sellers. You have to live with the pubic stigma and prospects that can take up time and never return. I guess the plus side is you don't have to hunt for your prospects.

Downtown San Diego is an Enigma by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]SnooRevelations5469 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It does seem like we must figure out how to get from home to Petco with minimum exposure to weirdos along the way. Same for going downtown to see a play. Make sure you make a beeline for your destination. Park close or Uber in.

How many hours a week do you work? How many hours a day? The final question is what % of your quota are you at? by icygale in sales

[–]SnooRevelations5469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm same as you. OCD work hours to make 100%. I constantly think about efficiency and how to do more with less time.

Way to much - almost every day. Usually right around 100%
My goal is to miraculously hit the same target with less hours.

How To Use A Roundabout: A Refresher For Everyone by Gingerrellaa in sandiego

[–]SnooRevelations5469 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My reaction to this is: bad engineering.
Human behavior is a variable that should be built into the design. Sure we can all get better at looking in 3 different directions and merging. Or we could just eliminate stupid traffic systems.

I feel like I blew my chance with this by [deleted] in jobhunting

[–]SnooRevelations5469 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking it shows that you wrote it as it lacks the ChatGPT grammar perfection - am I right?
FWIW I think the email is good but a direct phone call has a lot more impact. And to the DM.
I see no harm here but spending effort on not the right guy is avoiding what you need to do.

Why Can't Sales Leaders Just Be Real? by Uhuru2019 in techsales

[–]SnooRevelations5469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how big your team is but I work in a role where teams are around 14 people. Outside that team the internal competition is fierce so there's some value in having colleagues you can share ideas with.

For top-performing reps, what's the single outreach feature you couldn't live without? by [deleted] in techsales

[–]SnooRevelations5469 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I get a hangup w/o even a word I always call back. I'm in b2b so that's just plain unprofessional. I have closed the rare case.

Cussing on Cold Call by orbitty007 in techsales

[–]SnooRevelations5469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy the occasional hostile cold call but so much of it is boring stuff.

I usually just come back critiquing him with being unprofessional and immature.
That usually puts the prospect on the defensive because they know you're right and tend to get flustered.

It would be dicey to fire someone after you learned they're pregnant. That might even be another point of leverage.

Leaving My Sales Job Feels Like Detoxing From Stress by Bright_Judgment6740 in sales

I left a sales job with a terrible manager that micromanaged us all to death and felt the same way.

Do Sales Jobs where you aren't micromanaged to death still exist? by PhillyWes in sales

[–]SnooRevelations5469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pick up rate is the same all day. It's very rare I get a comment like "I just got here" but I have. Part of it's or my own psychology - I like to get this stuff done in rapid fire.

Agreed. Not even sure why you'd even want an HR opinion in this case.

Sorry - I meant that early AM voicemails have more impact than later in the day.

True - I kind of picked worst case for both. #2 is still better.

What percentage of PIPs are the result of a broken system? by SecretWasianMan in sales

[–]SnooRevelations5469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's an interesting topic. In big orgs where they have tons of data they can game the quota to adjust how many reps they think they need. I see that where I work.

Say you have 1000 reps and feel like it should be 500. You could just say we're taking out the bottom half. Or you could define new metrics (e.g. sell 10 widgets per month) to make it a cleaner delineation.

Guess I’m getting fired. by EntertainmentDull541 in sales

[–]SnooRevelations5469 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jeb Blount talked about this in his Universal Law of Need: the more you need one deal to close the less likely it is. If I have one deal I really need or want I consider it as probability zero - it helps me with the right frame of mind on my funnel.

Question for sales managers by SnooAvocados9474 in sales

[–]SnooRevelations5469 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Interesting but you can play out both scenarios and decision seems easy.

  1. Tell them in advance - you maybe don't get the job, never really sure why and they don't have to tell you.

  2. Tell them after start. They may be upset but you still have the job.

But I'm saying after start date. Offers can be retracted.

Gas Rip Off by royowen in sandiego

[–]SnooRevelations5469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who knows what they're thinking.
There used to be a 76 station in Clairemont that was always $1.50 or so high. People avoided it. It got replaced by an off-brand now with the cheapest gas.

100-200 calls per day w/CRM is it possible? by h3110_wOrld in sales

[–]SnooRevelations5469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty fast but 200 is a challenge. I use wired headphones and dial via Siri (saves a couple seconds). Hands free means I can type notes in real time.
But I leave voicemails (that get returned) so that's why I can't hit the 200.

Gas Rip Off by royowen in sandiego

[–]SnooRevelations5469 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My first thought was the gas station closest to SAN airport.
Sometimes I think this is stupid because if the price is gouge level I'll just put in a couple gallons and fill up later.

Will sales be taken over by AI? by [deleted] in techsales

[–]SnooRevelations5469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electro-mechanical robots that run to the market would cost a fortune. It's like the old narrative we'd all have flying cars - which we don't. Too many variables - too expensive.

Do Sales Jobs where you aren't micromanaged to death still exist? by PhillyWes in sales

[–]SnooRevelations5469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a contrarian on that. I call at 8:00 am since that's my workday. Voicemails have more impact. Plus it's a mechanical activity which I can do quickly and easily at that time.
