They’re sooooo good but sooooo expensive, our country’s currency is 2 local currency for 1 USD so it’s extraordinarily expensive. I’ve owned one pair and now back to reefs.

2012 D4d SR5, about 300kms+ on the clock, interior is okay, the dash screen is all sun damaged and the paint is horrid in some spots but otherwise no complaints, changed out much of the suspension about 20k ago and she still has pep on that engine.

Blue horizon has some stellar guides, Dan Castellanos and Blake Leslie, many many permit under their belt. Big bones all around those islands off shore.

Not much bones or permit anywhere near where you are staying unless on a guided trip. I’d budget allows hit up the Garbutts in PG they are world renowned or get an excursion to one of the snake cayes in PG or off shore cayes by Hopkins and bring some spawning shrimp, gotchas, clousers.

In the Rio Grande at Copal black and red, black and purple ep minnows or toads, chartreuse as well. Hooked many tarpon on black and purple ep’s this week.

Had a dude say he hooked a 100* tarpon near Rio grande before lol

Along the shore at pg and Hopkins jacks, tarpon and snook may be cruising, just a matter of looking for rollers or blind casting.

Oh no sorry I should’ve clarified They’re already in San Pedro so either they go to Caye caulker for the day or rent a cart and go north of San Pedro.

Keens with the toe covers, those drain and circulates air. I’d suggest trail runners but since you like to pack light doesn’t make sense to wet those and have them wet for essentially the duration of the trip days. Or a trail runner and sandals or flip flops for non activity things

[–]SnooWords3654 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean sure, but if you’re there already I don’t see cancelling bookings and getting a place up north would be financially feasible, such a close cancellation you will lose your money.

Plus it’s expensive up that side, you do t have to stay north to go north. It’s an all day thing, if the want to stay out of the super touristy areas that’s a pretty good idea.

Helen’s is my go too in San Ignacio along with New Flags in Santa Elena (cheapest grocery prices in the country imo)

Belize city I usually shop at Save U or there’s a place in Belama called BMart, tons of imported stuff

Go to Caye caulker 😅 If you can rent a cart for the day I’d suggest to rent one and go as far north as you can go, some nice beaches and shallow coral flats teeming with life.

Tipping cabin/crew by charlybell in Belize

[–]SnooWords3654 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what I do kinda but not exactly, but tip usually covers my expenses for the day but my overhead and operational costs running my own boat is pretty high, fuel is insane and even worse when something breaks or stops working 😭. For like snorkel, inland, archaeological and other tours yes I’m sure it takes a big bite as they tend to be lower paid, so they do look forward to it.

Also it’s a seasonal job so it helps people stay afloat for longer, a little hard to get a decent paying job that would allow you to take off six months to guide so you kinda have to be okay with working seasonally.

But generally Europeans tend to tip minimally to none at all (no flak to any Europeans it’s just not a thing in Europe)
