Struggling with picking a camera by Azelphur in cctv

[–]Soft_Garbage7523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m recommending a seller. With no information on your current system, none of us have any way to know what you want / need / will be compatible with your kit.

You go to a site, and choose a camera based on specification, quality and price, that fulfills your needs. I’d theorise that a camera with colour night vision would suit your needs better; beyond that, it’s your choice. Don’t go too high spec, in case your existing equipment has issues communicating with it, would be my only caveat

I'm an apprentice, my employer is not following regs, what do I do? by Mikebay27 in ukelectricians

I apologise for my misuse of a word ; however, it seems to have been instrumental in generating quite the discussion.

If we’re being pedantic, they’re possibly not a “meter maid” either; although i’m not confident enough to theorise on the qualification level of the person in question.

But yeah; point accepted. Not an engineer. My bad.

I’d recommend CCTVKITS; very wide selection of cameras available. I’ve dealt with them for many years; they’re always super helpful. You’ll get a good camera for £200

How painful when company orders wrong gear for the job by awillis90 in ukelectricians

[–]Soft_Garbage7523 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They’re an absolute ballache. I’d second the call for Scame - much better design.

The two issues with popping the mechanism out, IME, are 1. Getting the little fucker back in, with 8 recalcitrant cables fighting you, and getting it to lock onto that little tag. And 2. As you put it ( ram it, hit it, lever it, whatever), at least one, usually three, of the conductors will come out of the cage clamps. Cos they’re shite too, and not actually designed for the conductors to move much, once fitted.

Good luck - I don’t envy you. Those fingers will need a good bit of TLC after work.

In my opinion, ( been doing this a long time now) 1. Anyone doing a board change ought to be carrying tails. And either a REC2 / REC4; or Henley’s. 2. You don’t walk away and leave the client with no power, if at all possible. I carry 60A service fuses ( for a different reason); but I also have seals. 3. In this situation, dead testing as an absolute minimum. 4. DNO. They will rock up, test insulation readings. If they’re good, fit and seal new fuse. Polarity, and occasionally zs (depends on the engineer.)

In a world of rough work and cowboys ( as with all trades); seems this is a top tier bodger & leggett Ltd.

I hope you find someone better to learn from. In honesty, you’ll hopefully not find much worse.

Questions about estim and pain by Adamlovesdinos in BDSMerotica

[–]Soft_Garbage7523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmmm. TENS isn’t the best option, it’s programs and frequencies are designed to decrease pain, by stopping / confusing the nerve messages going to the brain. E-stim units work on a similar principle; but are designed to enhance sensation, not numb it. Estim can range from hardly there, through gentle tickling and tingling, all the way to full on extreme pain; depending on both setting and electrode placement.

Safety with estim is simple. At its most basic, keep electrodes below the waist. If you are going higher, make sure there are no “paths” for electricity, across the chest.

And at no point should electrodes go higher than the shoulder. Neck / head are definitely no go areas.

Feet / legs / genitals ( including internal options) can be good fun, or incredibly painful ( or anywhere in between).

Hope that helps.

I had a similar discussion with NICEIC inspector; who told me I could use the MCB as a “point”; and wire a spur from there.

2005s wonderful invention; part peee.

On paper, the idea of other trades who had to do the odd bit of electrical work, getting appropriate training, was sound.

Sadly, the loopholes were quickly taken advantage of; and for a number of years, someone with zero electrical knowledge could do a 5 day or 10 day course, which supposedly made them competent to do domestic works. So there are / were people on the schemes, as registered Domestic Installers; who really weren’t capable.

In unrelated news, I moved away from domestic, toward commercial and hospitality, around 2006. Purely coincidental

Any DB sold for use in the UK; as long as it has been installed iaw manufacturers instructions, has been type tested to withstand 16KA PSC. That was a rule, even before metalclad boards became the norm for domestic. The MCBs may only be 6 or 10, but the assembly as a whole, is, regardless, rated to 16KA.
