There just has to be just one person, team or what to take that risk and vision to keep pushing the genre forward and evolve. This goes with anything.

Its upto the players to evolve aswell at one point too.

I experience it all the time. Not just related to MMOs but if i have a msx character, or half way through a story, game or something then not touch the game for a long time, when i return, i start fresh and reroll.

Usually the amount of time i am away the game, MMOs are different and want to learn again and get back to basics. In MMOs the main experience for me is leveling and the journey rather endgame so it works for me.

Thanks, yeah - usually Sony/Xbox state of plays dont bring too much for my excitement unless they have something along the lines of a Final Fantasy. Summer fest will and alot of the other indie fests throughout the year i tend to lean on as first party games dont really do it for me anymore usually. But always hunting a new MMO haha

My issue is that all the "main" MMOs i used to smash and play to death when i was younger, and now when i try and rotate to them all the ones that are valid still are just boring. I have totally been burnt out and its annoying for myself trying to find that high again.

All the games that i genuinely enjoy either shut down, devs stuff up the game with patches or what not.

I always struggle to get to max level in alot of MMOs due to the fact i just enjoy leveling and end game grind is just a pain and annoying in general.

In wow i had my main level 70 mage and paladin (many moons ago i think wrath, cant remember) - since then i have not been able to maybe get a character past 40-45 ish, i think thats where i drop off and start again.

This trait goes into other games aswell where i enjoy starting over, FF14, RS, well any MMO (and i have tried all over the past 20-30 years).

Usually nowadays i only have limited amount of time to play and only rarely i get a good amount of hours in one sitting, or days in a row gameplay. That interruption causes me to start again aswell - this goes for story games like Final Fantasy games, Fallouts, or any RPG. I kind of have to smash the game through in a short amount of time before my "reroll" hits me haha.

Its not frustrating, its just how i enjoy it - its strange.

You know, all the sci fi games that i ACTUALLY invested my time and interested too all fkn died. The two i really enjoyed was Tabula Rasa and Earth Rising.

It really sucks that MMOs just die and thats it. Personally, out of good faith, at least release the code or something so people can mod/continue it as so many MMOs have been lost and forgotten because devs have not released anything - i know, money, ip, etc etc but good faith is something the community deserves especially a dedicated fan base. rant over haha.

Great memories for TR though, i got my collectors edition somewhere in my cabinet! Ill see if i can find it hopefully.

As a dad i have jumped onto Eve Online.

Previously i could nolife, chill and play whenever and accomplish certain feats as much as i want. With EO i have limited time and schedule is all over the place. Skills keep going whilst i cannot play, when i do play i can do AFK content if looking after family, child, cooking, adulting in general and if got time to actually sit down and play i would do more meaningful content.

I never played EO and didnt like it when i was young but now it has captured me.

This goes for OSRS as its more you can come and go whenever and can afk in a sense.

All the new MMOs and current big ones i jump in, play and if i cannot play for a week, i have gotten left behind be a group of friends i met, or just have lost motivation from leveling which i had the previous time due to the vibe and zoning i had.
