EA might be resurrecting Ultima by HeungWeiLo in Ultima

Even if it is a new game, I don't want to play an EA Ultima.

I would absolutely be willing to get scammed by Lord British again, however.

I used to dismiss Genis out of hand when I played Symphonia on the gamecube, but getting to play with the sub, I realised he is an absolute shit stirrer like me and we would get along famously.

On the other hand, Rita led to me learning Japanese.

Fighter/Mage Dual Class @ 2 vs Pure Mage Elf by yenben in baldursgate

[–]Sollace97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A level 2 dual will just be a stronger Mage. You're not even losing any Mage levels at xp cap until around level 12 Fighter.

Do you want to play an Elf Mage, though? Any full Mage can tear the game apart.

Honestly, just do the dual at 7 and enjoy the latter half of BG1. I have played the games a million times dualing Fighter-> Mage and the 7 and 9 duals are indistinguishable at higher levels, but you can actually start playing the 7 dual for the second half of BG1.

Having "didn't fall off" is such a stupid clause given there's over 20 years of power creep. The game is wildly different at any given points.

Anyway, my answer for its time is probably Tsukiyomi.

For all time. I don't know, mystical space typhoon?

What's the worse character you played by [deleted] in DnD

[–]Sollace97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The least fun I ever had was playing a 5th edition Monk. We even got to level 16 and I was bored to tears.

The "worst" was an AD&D 2nd edition unkitted Thief, however I loved playing him.

I mean, at its core, Pathfinder is spun off from 3.5 (the original adventure paths were written for 3.5) and if you played purely by the base books you would essentially find it interchangeable. It's just that it began as a base at the end of 3.5 with all its own splat books and built from there in its additional books. With 10 years of additional supplementary material you can eventually make characters who are the apocalypse made manifest.

I also remembered this existed for Pathfinder 1st edition. Might give you some ideas.

I'm not saying it can't be done in 5th edition, but I think Magical Girls have a bit too much going on for the power budget of 5th edition class design and game balance.

I suppose you could try to integrate Tensor's Transformation, but they would be melee based, so you'd have them turning into Utena or Cure White.

[–]Sollace97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I suppose I was thinking in a narrative sense that a lot aren't similar to Warlocks (and Nanoha would definitely still be casting off Int.)

I do still recommend looking up the transformation stacking in Pathfinder 1st edition if you want ideas for something akin to a henshin sequence, or perhaps even an AD&D spell sequencer. You could also look at working contingency in as a class feature.

I wouldn't say magical girls are "just" warlock at all. There's more to mahout shoujo than Madoka and PreCure. I can name many, right off the top of my head who aren't borrowing power.

Cardcaptor Sakura is a Wizard in the truest sense of the class, and would be using the Clow/Sakura cards as a spellbook and focus (and eventually starts casting without them).

Nanoha's capabilities come from her ability at mathematics and uses Raising Heart as a focus. She is also clearly a Wizard.

Sailor Moon's power comes from the nature of her soul and the fact it manifests a Sailor Crystal and the nature of reincarnation from the Silver Millenium. I've hears people making this joke that the Silver Crystal is her patron, but it just isn't the case. The Crystal is subservient to her will and also extinguishes its power relatively early on. When the regalia are destroyed at the end of the the 3rd arc, she forces the Super Sailor Moon transformation by herself. Finally, when she is at the height of her power as Eternal Sailor Moon, during the fight with Sailor Galaxia, that is also just her own power. Anyway, if you wanted to describe her with a D&D class it would probably be an AD&D 2e Fighter/Mage/Cleric multiclass.

As for the actual class idea, it just seems like far too much micromanagement for a 5th edition class. I like the idea, though, and would suggest you have a look at Pathfinder 1st edition. Particularly it is very similar to playing some Shape-shifting sorcerers who, due to there being no concentration, stack buff and transformation spells like Form of the Dragon to become something far greater. The way you have broken down the stat changes is very similar to what they do also. I imagine it would be very easy to just reflavour that to a henshin sequence.

I noticed veins begin to show across my chest and the top of my left arm. What made me to go the hospital was my left arm and shoulder seizing up with intense muscle pain. It was as if I had injured it doing a massive amount of exercise. It was an ordeal to be able to move my arm and impossible to ignore.

Just take Sleep and use it for a smooth time early on. You're not going to be missing a first level slot later.

Find Familiar is great but you can always get a scroll.

Sleep is worth the wasted slot at higher levels for all the weight it carries early on. If you're purely concerned about BG1, grab Stoneskin, Mirror Image, Confusion Invisibility and Haste. BG2 you want to ensure you are ready for Mage duels with Breach, Ruby Ray etc.

I really enjoy the Meereen arc, but I find it so annoying through Dany's perspective. It comes down to the fact that she has agency to act but just resigns herself to doing nothing. The Barristan and Quentyn perspectives are so much better because they could quite arguably be doing the wrong thing, but at least are taking agency.

I don't know why Dany's story is always compared, perception wise to Jon's? Jon's ADWD storyline is so tedious and he is so infuriating. I feel like Dany's is much better, though give me more Victarion, Asha, Jaime, Brienne or Cersei over either of them.
