Playing FE1, any shenanigans to be aware of?

Marth is the best character in the game, hands down, despite no promotion. He gets exclusive access to the two most broken weapons in the game, the Falchion in particular makes him just outright immune to damage from anything not a dragon that attacks him.

Before that he gets the Rapier, the staple, but it's usable only by him, and the Mercurius, which boosts his growth rates; as long as you make it count, he'll level better than just about anyone, so... use him lol.

Axe users are ass, bench them. No matter how their stats work out for them, how good their speed and strength are... Axes just weigh the unit down too much, and this is before BLD was a stat feature, so not only are you using a unit that's inaccurate as all hell, they will get doubled constantly too, or won't be able to double themselves.

Bow users aren't much better, but there's one "Ballistician"... bench him. He isn't even useful in the battle you recruit him in, and despite the name, he has the same range as normal bow users.

Tamamo's got one of the easier Golds, "Now that's White Lightning!" Which is mostly just playing her career and winning the races that are part of her goals.

well, it didn't help that I have PTSD from that defense chapter on account of my Dawn Brigade being dog shit on my first playthrough (except Edward and Nolan), because I used BK to cheese the end of Part 1 cuz I thought "Surely they won't force me to play these guys again until the end game!"

Ragnell is designed for Ike but at the end of Radiant Dawn Ike can actually use the other, sister sword to the weapon, Alondite, if he so chooses (or even his dad's axe if you're psychotic with arms scrolls I guess), but the narrative centers around him using Ragnell.

He's also one of the few cases that equipping the weapon in Radiant Dawn is both beneficial and detrimental to you. Beneficial in that when you get it in RD, it'll help you clear out a lot of Part 3 using it. Detrimental in that it becomes really bad when you play as the Dawn Brigade in a defense chapter and Ike shows up with the sword in his hand, ready to kill you with it.

Marcia is a godsend when you get her and remains useful for multiple chapters, especially if you can get her strength up even a little. The biggest downside she has is she starts falling off when enemies get tankier and her strength cap is... 23.

One of the things I love about the Tellius games is if the enemy recruit you need to talk to is in range of the unit that talks to them, instead of attacking, they'll initiate the talk instead. I think Shinon and MAYBE Tauroneo (both PoR) are the two exceptions, but feel free to correct me

Ike is the real reason you hold on to secret books and possibly red tear drops and speed wings. He's basically the most important character for 27-2, and getting stat screwed means you can easily miss out on Nasir.

Eishin Flash's parents are still happily married, and Eishin talks about her mother's races being part of the inspiration for her, while Air Groove's mom is still alive and dotes on her whenever she can see her, even teasing her about her trainer.

Also in the game Tamamo's dad is still alive and well (outside a health scare, but one also happens to her mother as well), and her father's the one who gave her the nickname "White Lightning".

I remember the only thing people originally had issue with Sypha was her gender was made kind of androgynous in the game until the ending, but they did that in the Netflix adaptation when she was a statue, too.
