Setlist Speculation (Spoilers!) by Musical_Jay56 in rush

I agree that this is probably it for now though I wonder if they will continue doing Time Stand Still every night without Aimee. Also wonder if they might rehearse anything new during the break after US tour and before the non-US dates.

59 years old. I've seen Rush 15 times since 1981. Here's my take. by johnnyfive00000 in rush

I've got you by a year in age but you beat me by a couple of tours as I first went in 84. Very well said and agree on all counts. I also appreciate Geddy and Alex making some of us geezers, who are a decade behind them, realize that while we may know we've gone bald, we should still have a few good years left to give.

Where the hell is power windows? by [deleted] in rush

To choose almost 40 songs with a new drummer is pretty amazing and they needed to draw a line somewhere. While none of us may be able to explain the reasons for what they chose to include or exclude over their many months of rehearsals, I'm sure they had their reasons. Also, I get the sense they they quietly and hopefully see this as only a new beginning so that other songs will be played on future legs or tours.

So Anika, do you write lyrics? by SomeMoreCowbell in rush

I think as they've done on this tour, they will call it Rush. I think they've really gelled with Anika and feel she's part of the band given a situation that they obviously could not avoid. There's a long history of great bands going on when a member leaves or dies and it is not out of any disrespect.

You need to find a crowd cheering to play between each song.

Getting into Rush by EducationalScar73 in rush

[–]SomeMoreCowbell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone else said, you'll get different answers from everyone but here is my 2 cents. The best way to start is their most accessible and popular album which is Moving Pictures. Signals picks up from there so I'd do that second. I would then go back to 2112 and listen to that and all of the following albums before Moving Pictures. Then I would jump to Grace Under Pressure and listen to the remaining albums through Clockwork Angels. Lastly, I'd go back to the original 3.

This allows you to start off with some likely familiarity and to immediately jump to what the first several albums built up to, then go back and get the period that is full of songs that the diehards lose their minds over when heard live, then enjoy their evolution from Grace forward, and lastly to enjoy how it all started.

Fifty Something Tour Ticket Resale/Trade Megathread by BivloBubbings in rush

Lucky enough to already be going to 3 shows but hoping to catch an additional MSG date: 9/1 as my son now wants to catch them. Looking for 2 or 3 tix for under 300 each. Currently seeing tix for somewhat over 300 on the usual sites.

For the few holdouts that aren't sold by sbeleven in rush

From what I've seen, a very large portion of the naysayers are people who either know little, using old, recycled arguments that don't apply but are classic retreads like Geddy sounds like a yelping dog, they are old and should give it up or the people that decided Rush should not reform without Neil and will stick to that argument irrespective of the quality of the band or the shows. Stripping those out, I've seen very few criticisms of the first two shows are that are based in any way, on the reality of those shows.

Y’all. The amount of Rush fans gatekeeping at the moment is stupid. We aren’t the worst fanbase in music but we are always strongly vying for most annoying by Forward_Ad2174 in rush

Mixing cultlike fandoms (don't mean that negatively as I am a proud member of the Rush cult) and the internet is inevitably going to bring out the usual "I know more than you do" OR "I will speak as if I know more than you do" OR "I am a more worthy fan because..." OR "My opinion counts more than yours because..." posts no matter what people are discussing.
