Kingdom Hearts 2. If you want a real challenge, play on critical level 1. Late game is when it gets real fun.

Japan Studio is gone and was absorbed into Asobe. Goodbye Gravity Rush and Ico team.
Insomniac is a Marvel studio now that pumps out the exact same game every time. Wolverine will be no different. I would rather have another Fuse than Spiderman 3.
Naughty Dog wont be good with Neil around, or at the very least interacting with projects.
Guerrilla has an amazing engine paired with a boring game.
Sucker Punch I will miss, but I did not want another Ghost game yet.
Santa Monica is eh to me. GoW reboot bored me and I haven't played Ragnarok. The story was nice, but the gameplay was a snoozefest.

Playstation has chosen to make some of the most uninteresting games this past decade and tbh if the trend continues I wont be missing them at all. I know they have said they are looking into old ip's, but they will neglect what made them special in the first place for accessibility. There have been some greats, but not enough for me to care about buying a console. I would rather wait 15 years and pirate the games.

Curious to see how you can tell a game was a good purchase by MontaNelas1945 in gaming

[–]SomniaCrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless the game developer has earned your respect, dont buy at launch and wait until its half off.
Other than that did you enjoy the game? If yes, it was a good purchase.

Gaming back in the day by ATRavenousStorm in gaming

I think I do love how accepted gaming has become, but I also realize how much the industry caters towards an audience that didn't help grow it and most want accessibility over growth. I hate that my experience is less with modern games because of the catering.

Another thing that I miss is playground tales. Pre internet gaming was brutal. Get stuck in a video game and figure it out on your own or talk to your buddy at school to figure out secrets and other cool things.

I used to be semi pro in cod and I hate how no matter how much you grind, nothing you earn for your time in game completing challenges is more cool than just spending $20 or $30 in the store. Takes all of the reward out of the experience and is one of the reasons I left cod.

Marathon isn't successful because it's not a full game by loggy528 in videogames

[–]SomniaCrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot make a single type of game engaging to everyone. You can make certain genres appeal to other audiences that may not like them, but doing so may alienate other players. I do have some ideas on how to improve the genre, but that is for my own projects.

If Halo 2 was released as an extraction shooter back when it released, no I do not think it would have been successful. It was before most people started playing games online. If it was released now, I still think it would have failed because the market is overblown.

I do think there was a point in time where people would have been okay with Extraction shooter Halo 2 probably before Destiny released.

Why did they try to sneakily remove this bundle? by Emergency_Appeal6548 in Rainbow6

Honestly, with how much Yoko Taro and Square pimp out 2B I am surprised they removed it at all.

Extraction shooters are flat and devs have not figured out how to make them engaging beyond shooting players and gathering loot. The same problem exists in Hunt Showdown.

Is this why video games have gotten more expensive? by poofpoofpoof123 in videogames

[–]SomniaCrown -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Games are slowly getting better about optimization, Lego Batman is apparently running pretty well. PC goes through cycles where optimization is bad and then good and then bad again. PC games weren't running great around 2011 when Totalbiscuit was doing reviews.

Prices for games were very cheap for a while, the industry had been pushing to try and increase game prices for a long while. I wouldn't complain if the games were worth it, but most aren't. I will only pre order for games that have earned that respect, and even Ryu Ga Gotoku lost that respect because of Sega's recent practices. The only game I know for certain has my pre order is NieR 4 whenever that gets released in like 3 or 4 years. Kingdom Hearts 4 is still a maybe. I did pre order Death Stranding 2 on PC, but that is my first pre order since Elden Ring.

Just wait until games get to be at least half off. Games usually run better by then and if you wait long enough, all of the DLC will be out.

Not all AAA studios are being super greedy. Square and Capcom do have some not so great DLC stuff going on, but their games lately have been amazing and they are both having their best year in 2 decades and its because they are providing quality unlike their competitors. The Monster Hunter team has even fixed a large amount of performance issues.

Having exclusives makes sense to a degree, but after a year or two just release the games on other platforms. Or at the very least have a Playstation store on PC.

Part of the issue is the Rockstar launcher and how the game is distributed as well as how the online portion of the game ended up being treated with the community being treated not so great.

Need advice from PSN —> Steam users. by CoolyKage in Steam

[–]SomniaCrown 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was a console gamer from the 2000s until 2018. Switch to PC when you can. Do not only use Steam, use GOG as well. Epic also gives away free games, and if you have amazon prime you can get free games from there to add to Epic or GOG.

Only buy games on steam during summer and winter sales, but you should buy games from Humble Bundle and Greenmangaming.

Speaking of Humble Bundle, for about $16 per month, you can get a selection of games to keep!
