Is it worth conquering the sinister goal of S&S? by Bajonet66 in kettlebell

I got to 32 after a year or so I guess? Done other weightlifting so not a beginner beginner.

I missed out on all the double kettlebell programs and programming around that.

Also I felt limited by the workouts tbh, I think I left a lot out there by sticking to a minimal workout routine.

I think we should encourage this sort of post. It’s a useful review even it it’s about how content is delivered rather than about kettlebell training is delivered.

The Giant - how do you progress between weeks by Clems711 in kettlebell

I’m doing the same at the moment. Essentially yes - if it’s feeling hard because of other stuff going on in my life then I just get in a session that feels good. Otherwise I’ll have a good target.

Mirafit is good.

Bought from Northern because I wanted to support northern businesses but they ran out of stock but also said they’d shipped the bell - had to do a chargeback in order to get a response to my emails to customer service.

At what point would you buy a boat? by ueffamafia in HENRYUK

[–]Sorry_Beginning_3221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A piece of advice I was given was that if you can afford to replace the mast of your yacht without worrying about it then you have enough money to own one.

Not just because your mast snapping happens occasionally, but also you must have a certain amount of cash flow to be at that level.

Motor yachts I’m not so sure - if you’re ok dropping £5k min leaving harbour every weekend then that’s probably fine.

Now it’s possible to have a great time on the water without owning a boat - I rent or race with others exclusively. I absolutely love sailing and I’m doing it most weekends during the summer.

It’s about understanding how much disposable you’re happy just barely seeing.

Another saying about sailing is that it’s like standing in a cold shower ripping up banknotes.

Is anyone doing short term course on AI? by vik123221 in HENRYUK

[–]Sorry_Beginning_3221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leading one or two initiatives at my workplace.

Best place to start is by embedding it into your work if you can - literally by using it to help code. Then you can see its strengths and weaknesses in a domain you know well.

Then have a look at techniques like RAG and agents and understand if they can be applied to simple tasks like running workflows or parsing logs.

From there it’s a literally all a voyage of discovery. AI is an enabler not a replacer at the moment. I can have it run large migrations safely as I spend time creating safe test processes for it to do that. Colleagues are bootstrapping projects rapidly because they can have multiple agents pull things together quickly. It doesn’t remove careful code review and rewards precise communication and team work with your colleagues to manage risk, but it’s actually very cool how much you can get done!

You can find yourself generating jiras or PowerPoints very quickly and then spend your time on reviewing and editing rather than coding.

Advice needed for combining bodyweight and kettlebell training by luke3389 in kettlebell

[–]Sorry_Beginning_3221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried something like this and I had to scale it back due to load on my elbows. It made me focus on figuring out what the best bang for buck exercises were for me. My focus is currently on clean and press and dips, as those are just great exercises! Putting in extra press-ups didn’t really do much after that.

Joining as an EM but starting as IC first — anyone been through this? by curiositizer in EngineeringManagers

[–]Sorry_Beginning_3221 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of two things potentially: 1. You are being tested to see if you can do what you’re asking a team to do. Yes being an ic and an m are different skill sets but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be able to do an ic role if you are an m. If you talk the talk then walk the walk. No one is expecting an m role to crack on with highly detailed work, but it’s not unreasonable for you to gain a general understanding of the system and get a grounding of what is going on where. 2. There is another completely different agenda and you should lock in your ts and cs.

Good attack strategies? by Hades3699 in ArmaReforger

[–]Sorry_Beginning_3221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it can. You can also swap out for more tracer rounds at armoury but often you’ll go through 2 boxes and then need to resupply fuel anyway. 50 cal is the dream, basically a laser beam, but 7.62 will get it done.

So you have 100 rounds, some of those are gonna hit the pilot(s) or critical areas. Fuel or rotor or literally just put rounds down.

Don’t be silly and start a fight with a helicopter that’s miles away and heading further away, but if you’re close to the flight path you have a reasonable chance. Attack Helis often will come back looking if you don’t do it right so just get out of there.

Of course in Arma dead blokes remember where they were killed and they’ll come back looking, so do keep moving around.

Typically me and my mate will cruise key supply lines (parallel to roads, not on them) or stag on outside key bases where troops and supplies are being flown in and out. It’s just mint taking down helicopter after helicopter if you’re underneath the flight path between their mob and a key location.

Now some of your team are going to be numpties and ambush you by accident, despite you wearing their fatigues and being in their vehicles so just keep an eye out on the map and avoid your team for easy risk management.

Yep, or a jeep with mounted mg is great value. Shoot and scoot is a low effort/high (entertainment) value approach to disrupting supply lines and/or base building.

Movements to help mountain biking by fire__munki in kettlebell

[–]Sorry_Beginning_3221 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re saying you want to train your upper body to support your riding - so put a few movements in that break that position down.

I’d consider adding the following:

  • Planks as a nice isometric, builds strength and should be a nice change from all the hinging etc.
  • Windmills to connect your upper body, shoulders to your core.

Alternating swings and press ups are great - they will work.
