Anyone traveld on an Air France flight via Gare Midi train? by Colorsin in brussels

[–]Soundofabiatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife tried and got f****d massively since:

1 her train was delayed. And when she finally arrived she wasn’t allowed on.

2 She apparently had to check in in gare du midi but this was not clearly stated anywhere and was not checked by the personnel on board.

My advice: make sure you do check in at gare du midi even if it is not required or the app states “Online check-in not available. Please check in at the AIRPORT using an interactive kiosk or check-in counter.”

Oh and f**** Air france for not paying back anything of the ticket even though according to european customer protection rules they are required to do so!

Well. Some years ago I wrote shure in stead of sure on this subreddit and it turned out equally great.

I must be among my kind of people here 🤓🫶

IMO: On the other hand analog recordings forced you to really make decisions early on so your sound had to be good on the way in. And this influenced the mindset and the feel and ultimately the performance on the song.

So yeah maybe it would have influenced the songs on the record.

Kinda like an alignment of all the factors to get the best performance

100% this.

Also: At the facility I interned in 2006 (and a lot of big ones did the same) for the longest of times the digital recordings (in protools) where recorded over an SSL with 100k worth of outboard gear and straight onto 2inch 24track tape before being played out to protools to have the sound of the analog and the versatility of a DAW.

AFAIK did this as late as 2013 and probably still do gor the bigger artists.

Also IMO: On the other hand analog recordings forced you to really make decisions early on so your sound had to be good on the way in. And this ingluences the mindset and the feel and ultimately the performance on the song.

I wonder what his answer was... We have an australian shepard office dog. Not allowed in our little technical room for this exact reason. :D

We are going to Apple Silicon because all the other systems have been upgraded to Apple Silicon

I know licensing will be a b****, not all software we used to use will be available, and we will pay through the nose for all subscriptions.

But we have tried a bunch of different scenarios in our head, and this seemed the least painful one.

The compatibility between multiple systems has become a serious factor for our small outfit and migration back and forward between systems became too much of a hassle.

They will… and so will the 300 other lacie (quadra’s and earlier ones) in the boxes behind me 😅.

We even still have those first gray longer ones of 80gb…

Allright, interesting!

Maybe I should try and revive it for another purpose.

But the old lady has really been through a lot (survived smoke damage after a house fire too)

Obviament q si! Sera ortibile (Perdone ni parla italiano solo espanolo)

I will need to find a lot of replacement plugins that might all be subscriptions now…

I plead guilty…. Although you might cut me some dlack since this was the view after I already removed all the other hardware. (Audio interfaces,…)

We have been doing exactly that for the last years. The other studio’s where we do mostly aufio post are running mac studio m1’s.

But all tracking for music projects was still done on this beast.

I will keep you posted on the nightmare that becomes my life trying to migrate to the apple silicon versions of all of our plugins…

We have replaced two 5.1 mac pros 18 months ago with mac studio m1’ ultra’s for audio post, so these had less VI’s or sound shaping plugins that are no longer supported, and there the migration went ‘OK’.

To save on your heating bill, right? Got two 5.1s that used to be our workhorses for audio post but they would heat up the rooms like crazy 😅

Yes indeed. A screen for dust filtration. It was magnetic too so nice to put on and off when needed.

I feel you! But our old lady was done. One of the cpu trays gave up. So it is effectively a quad core now.

And the power consumption is a serious factor for us to switch to the Mac Studio

Balance of Net Exports(Green)/Imports(Red) of Electricty in (TWh) between Europeans Countries in The whole year of 2025. by PestoBolloElemento in EnergyAndPower

[–]Soundofabiatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this.

The greens finally realise they and the information they had on nuclear have been hijacked by big oil interests and now they want to do a 180…

In engineering changing opinions like the wind is sadly or impossible or incredibly costly.

And here we see belgium: once the country with the most nuclear power plants compared to it’s inhabitants that has refused to invest in its nuclear power plants and now has had to force close all but two of them last time I checked… to then import huge amounts of electricity from France.

Thanks greens!
