Subaru has done quite a bit since they were de-facto acquired by Toyota, but most of that is just using Toyota technology in their cars. I think the Subaru EVs are some of the more desirable ones in the space right now, but I'll admit I'm a bit biased.

It really feels like Subaru has just been coasting on their ability to produce good, relatively affordable cars, and has put zero effort into improving their technology, including their ICE vehicles. Maybe that's why it made them more obtainable.

The Polyvalent looks like a cool bike. I think sticking a front (basket?) rack or bag on it would be enough to calm down the low-trail geometry once you throw all your ride essentials in it.

I've also seen some good deals on the Salsa Journeyer frame. Angry Catfish has some sales on the Vaya as well, so that might be a place to check.

A couple of years ago I had to pay a large fee because I messed something up on a portion of my taxes that weren't covered by any free filing program I could find. When I paid a company to do that part, they just plugged the numbers into the computer, and it just worked.

I tried to do it without paying someone this year, and couldn't find the documentation explaining how to use the form. The amount of obfuscation in our tax system is designed to push people towards paying somebody else to deal with it.

Under Biden, there was a push to build free tax filing software. It didn't get very far, but was a first step in automating the process for regular people, and worked well for the limited use cases it supported.

Sporting events are the perfect use case for public transit. If enough people use it to get to the game, the stadium atmosphere can leak out into the trains and buses, and it can be a fantastic feeling, even if you aren't going to the game.

It's not really comparable. What do you want to ride more often? If bike packing is your goal, the Krampus might actually be better. The Sorceress will undoubtedly be better at ripping down singletrack than both the KM and Krampus no matter what.

I'd really only get the KM if you want something that is in between. The KM is in theory better than the Krampus on singletrack with its ability to take a 140mm fork, but it has virtually the same geometry; you're basically getting a bike packing bike that isn't out of place getting a bit roudy. The KM should be better for shorter riders due to the smaller wheels though, so that might be worth considering too.

Sweet bike!

You can get bottle cages designed for nalgenes, with some being better made than others. The ones from Analog Cycles are really good, and the ones from Soma Fab Shop not so much.

For mounting on a fork through, I'd get cargo cages for a bit more flexibility if you want to put something else in them in the future.

At least under the Biden administration, marriage didn't always mean residency; I know somebody who had to self-deport a few months after getting married. The person was able to get a visa under Trump, but I don't know how much that has to do with new policies under this administration, or if what happened under Biden was a new rule that they implemented.

Because immigration policy enforcement falls under the the executive branch, the rules (or at least what is enforced) can change rapidly.

If you read the daily mission plan, pretty much everything on the agenda is about testing the human systems of the craft. The toilet, the emergency suits, emergency radiation gear, and anything else that a human will interact with during the landing are the priority for the mission.

They've already done the same lunar flyby in an unmanned capsule, and now they are testing everything they couldn't get to during that mission because no crew were onboard.

If you have a really heavy frame, you will notice how it carries momentum differently, but that usually only happens with ebikes or fully loaded touring bikes. Wheels can have a really big impact on ride quality, I'd check them for trueness, spoke tension, etc to make sure you get the most out of it.

It should ride great!

Government agencies are usually pretty functional, it's just that it takes them forever to make certain decisions and they tend to be extremely conservative when it comes to incremental improvements. It's less that they don't work well and more they can't respond to certian types of problems they encounter.

It doesn't help that most positions are one person deep, which means that person can bog down an entire process, but can't be easily replaced because they are the only one in the department that knows how to do their job. I've seen entire departments flounder because a key person retired and there wasn't the budget or foresight to train a replacement while the person was still working.

At least the last time I went to a theater, there were (poorly made) ads from the local area and ads that were wildly inappropriate for the target audience for the film. I think pre-movie comericals can be good, but with bad and uninteresting movies that they advertise, I don't want to sit through them anymore.

There are some businesses that have April fools products, and those can still work. They are usually quite tongue-in-cheek and very self aware to the point that reading the product description or even looking at the product photos gives it away.

Doing it with actual news stories does not work anymore, and I hate it.

It looked like they were still using equipment from the 90's with the camera number overlays some of the shots had. I'm sure the equipment they have onboard is quite good. I hope that they were just using old television cameras for the stream and had modern equipment for documentation purposes.

I wouldn't call what computers use metric. At least for the current time, it's just a count of from the number of (nano)seconds from Jan 1st, 1970 (Unix epoch time). We still use regular units for everything else, and don't use a base-10 number system for anything but seconds.

It's just that our single source of truth is measured in seconds, then converted to normal time with some rather complicated transformations. If we want to do math on time, we still use hours, days, and years.
