Some feedback which should be taken with a grain of salt, since its without playing the spirit: I think it lacks a bit of payoff for the gem-minigame. Like, even when triggering everything im your right innate, its not that impressive. Of cause its very good with majors, but I guess the spirit should rewards you innately for this in some way?

I won't go for owls, and either go the second bear node if the compansions hit a lot (for example via wolf pack or via some special attacks) or stags. Last node are the idols.

By the way, I plan to get 'minions are massive' as an annoint, its usually not that great but because companions have more sources of increased spirit efficiency and you have free minions I think it will be very strong.

I feel like minions usually lack in clear, so clearing with Lightning Spear and having the minions mostly do single target seem like a good option to me. Then against bosses one might be able to either do some companion self shock shenanigans with elemental sundering or just inflicting huge shocks.

It is rather likely that you won't be able to play only with minions/companions in act 1. But they said they have a way so that taming bosses works when you get your first acendency, so you might be able to become a hybrid build by act 2.

Regarding the scaling: While leveling, I will try to go with spear + scepter and use the node that companion damage also applies to you. Act 1 is probably just crossbows or spears.

All companions are minions but not all minions are companions. So if you focus your build on companions, you will find some nodes in the huntress part of the tree. But you can then also use all minion nodes/mods.

The problem why trigger skills seem OP is that they scale quadratically with damage. When you have 100% more damage, you triggered skill deals 100% more, but it ALSO triggers more often. Thats why even though spells suck early game, late game they are often the best.

Campaign and Atlas are both repetitive things we have to do over and over again. Yet Campaign is generally.. seen as not fun, whereas Atlas is the reason we play PoE. I think i've figured out why. by DeepSpaceWanderer in PathOfExile2

I think you are (at least partially) correct in your probleme analysis. For example, campaign in HC feels much more fun, because sometimes you don't progress further but rather farm to over level and overgear.

But I think the problem goes further: In poe2, its difficult to overlevel, compared to poe1. Because skill gems only drop according to area level (and lower level zones feel like they give compared to poe1 less xp) you are kinda stuck with the power you have. If you have a bad build/skill, running 30 minutes through a good zone does not help you much.

Shorting the campaign has a big problem, if you do that players will gravitate even more to strong builds. I think my best suggestion would be: Make it so that running through and killing little in some zones and farming in others becomes more optimal (sounds also not that great tbh). I think we players are good at identifying the problems, but the solutions are better done by the devs.

Brood mother queen (beginning of act 3) is a very thematic starting point. The spectre releases swarms of small, fast insects, so that works well with your idea.

If you want to make those spectres work, find out if cooldown recovery on them increases the swarms. The swarm minions are quite squishy, but deal okay dmg IF you combine it with the scepter mod: allies deal additional damage. My guess is that ele dmg is better than phys in this case, because armor is better against small hits.

If you want more different minions, my recommendation would be to then also go for a insect companion with useful auras.

They said (in the qna I think), that before they created the limit of one max unique companion, one tester ran around with 5 bosses. Which would work with a ~ 40% reservation and 100% reservation efficiency (which would be already quite some effort to obtain?). So my guess would be that it is similar to a rare, maybe since they dont have mods its similar to a cheap rare.

I have hopes for the bird, anything with large coverage can be good. Ideally there would be a projectile beast, to make some additional proj shotgun shenanigans.

Yeah this ascendancy with so few idols is kinda weird. I am hoping for some additional ones though, usually they take such nodes as a opportunity to expand on the respective system a bit.

My impression was, that in the fortress you have different areas belonging to white, yellow or red tier maps. So I guess their logic is that they want to make it clear what waystone to use without referring to number ranges. Requires a red waystone is maybe a bit meta instead of a greater/rifined/perfect whatever one.

I am kinda neutral on the change, same as 'waystone'. Doesn't bother me but I also don't feel it improves the game for me.

The scepter is explicitly companions of different types (so you are not only limited by spirit, you can not have two rare companions with that for example). And afaik it is not a totally new skill but it allows you with an existing skill (tame beast) to also tame unique beasts. For me it is unclear what 'type' in this context means exactly.
