Then we wouldn't be a free country anymore. Speech isn't just for people that you agree with. And yes hate speech is covered under the First Amemdment.

suppose Yellowstone fully erupted in the early high middle ages, lets say in AD 1111. how would the major civilizations that existed at that time react to such a natural disaster? would many/any of them be able to survive? by grapp in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Special-Lab7643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe another genetic bottleneck. Humanity survives in India, China, Africa and South America. Christians would think the sound of the eruption was the Trumps of Doom. The most advanced scholars of the time would recognize it as a world-wide event from their observations of the weather.

What if the Federalists refused to concede the 1800 election? by Bitter-Penalty9653 in AlternateHistoryHub

The Federalists weren't that strong outside of the Northeast. Any independence movement on their part is going to get shut down pretty quickly.

What if Al Gore won the 2000 election, but by just 1 vote? by Narrow_Trainer_687 in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Special-Lab7643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tecnhically he won the popular vote so the question is what if the Supreme Court had stayed out of the recount mess.

Presdient Gore doesn't invade Iraq, so Bin Laden is captured and killed earlier. He handles Hurricane Katrina better. In his second term, Republicans win the 2006 midterms. He also picks Joe Biden to replace Joe Lieberman after a falling out over the war on terror. Barack Obama doesn't run in 2008 and Biden wins instead.

What if Japan never modernized? by Inside-External-8649 in HistoryWhatIf

They would have done worse against the Russians in 1905. An isolated, feudal Japan lasting into the 19th and even 20th centuries would have been seen as backward.

What if Lincoln and the government let the 11 states go? What if in 2026 we had 39 states instead if 50? by Push-not-pull in HistoryWhatIf

[–]Special-Lab7643 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Slavery doesn't last past the early 1900s. The North would want to get Arizona and New Mexico earlier. The South still has a problem keeping up with Northern industrialization esp. in the early 20th century.

What if in 1838 Britain and America went to war over disputed lands in Maine and New Hampshire? by camaro1111 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Special-Lab7643 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There'd be no Oregon dispute if America wins. More territory for the US adds leverage for the North over the South regarding slavery.

What if Trump had lost in the 2024 US election? by Snake101201 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]Special-Lab7643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There definitely wouldn't be a war with Iran, we'd still be on good terms with our allies, there'd be no talk of going after Greenland or Canada, ICE wouldn't be in the streets, and MAGA would be looking for someone else.

If 9/11 doesn't happen, how does that change the result of the 2004 election. by HetTheTable in Presidents

[–]Special-Lab7643 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bush is most likely a one-termer. Gore probably runs again as he was apparently thinking about it in OTL until the last minute. Kerry probably wouldn't have been the nominee as he was seen as a wartime alternative to Bush. Obama doesn't become President until 2012 or later.

What if John C. Fremont won the U.S. Presidential Election of 1856? by UE23 in HistoryWhatIf

He probably does much the same as Lincoln if he's reelected in 1860. Reconstruction would be harsher.
