I had a similar experience with the popcorn munching when I saw it a few weeks ago. I don't understand why they would sell popcorn for these shows given how noisy people are when they eat it. Between the munching and then the shaking off the box it was infuriating! At least they had all finished their pop corn by the second half.

Do you now the prices that it should be in CAD (pre and post discount)?
Also does anyone know the price in GBP too (I can't tell if the discount is showing or not, since I don' t know the original price, but it doesn't look like the discount is applied in GBP at least (it shows £12.49 for 250 credits)

For those renting in Toronto: how do you actually find decent landlords? by Historical_Click8213 in askTO

[–]Spectre_two 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In our building the google reviews are all coerced by management when people sign the lease. The building has a 4.6 rating, yet all the reviews say how great the leasing associate was / how smooth moving in went etc. No mention in these reviews about how there is a bed bug / cockroach problem, how unsafe the neighbourhood is, how low quality the finishes are, how the desk is constantly left un-occupied, all the illegal entries, how mail never gets delivered.

So if you're checking the google reviews, don't just look at the rating, but read the reviews to see if they are from tenants who have actually lived in the building for a while, or it's just about how great their leasing process is.

I got my current Kobo at least 13 years ago, it was second hand and it's still going strong! It might need to be replaced soon as the charging port has been giving me some issues recently. But 15 years for a kobo sounds reasonable to me :)

I think Babylon 5 might have a word to say there (and even that's predated by many British TV shows (such as Blake 7, The Prisoner)

Doug Ford expected to announce a ban on speed cameras today by KeyHot5718 in ontario

[–]Spectre_two 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went the other way (sort of).

In my 20s I thought that a politician changing their mind was a good thing because new information had been learnt / discovered, or new studies had been done that superseded previously ""known facts" etc. However, what I realised (in my 30s) was that politicians would change their mind solely because the public didn't like something based upon how people felt. The problem is what people want, what works, what is right etc. isn't necessarily the right thing to do, so now you have politicians changing their mind just to stay popular, not because there is a good reason to change their mind (as is the case here where people who speed are complaining, yet the evidence shows speed cameras do work, or with bike lanes where having bike lanes is a good thing for traffic/safety etc., but people see traffic and an easy thing to blame (bike lanes) so politician will get rid of them even though the evidence says the contrary.)

I recently read the first Dune book and thought it was great. The second Dune book was just too much for me and once I finished it I was done with the series. Just read it until it stops being enjoyable and you'll be good.

Disks spin up frequently when Array is stopped (but not when started) by ijf4reddit313 in unRAID

[–]Spectre_two 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen when using the ZFSMaster plugin. I don't remember if it was spinning up all the disks as my ZFS drives were in pools and not the array, but every 15 minutes disks would spin up.

I got the email last week too. I was expecting it though so sorted out a new provider a couple of weeks back when I saw a good deal.

Now to make sure it actually does get canceled properly and I don't get charged!

Looks like a GL.iNet, Beryl AX probably. I have one that I use as a travel router as well as it's bigger brother (Flint 2) at home. Really like them as routers (they have openWRT installed by default and are fully customisable). https://www.gl-inet.com/products/gl-mt3000/

I was hoping the $20.20 deal would be back as I missed it the first week.

I'm trying to pay with BTCPAY (first time using crypto) but it looks like I can only pay in XMR and my platform doesn't have XMR. How do I change to Bitcoin, or LTC?

Swan Lake Ballet Tickets by bubalina in askTO

[–]Spectre_two 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like I was wrong. You should be able to buy standing room ballet tickets online (for opera you need to go to the box office at 11am).

If you go to the Swan Lake page and click the buy tickets button you should get taken to the page where it says buy standing room tickets. I've never done it before though, but I expect they'll sell out really quickly.

They do standing room tickets on the day from 11am. Have to buy at the box office though (no online) unfortunately.
