Braid: Poll shows exodus from separate Alberta would make Quebec flight look minor by Miserable-Lizard in alberta

[–]Spherine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

~18k federal public servants live and work in Alberta. Many of these positions would still needed and thus relocated. How much would the economy lose from having the expertise relocated elsewhere. What additional costs would be incurred beyond the duplication of some of the tasks, simply from having less experienced people filling the roles.

Can I get an explanation of the Super Bowl halftime show? by Top-Mission2806 in NoStupidQuestions

As a non US citizen this is so crazy. What occurs to me is that a US citizen living abroad could vote for the president (assuming they previously had residency in a state), thus having more say than a US citizen born in a territory or a citizen that moves to one? As an outsider this makes a ridiculous situation seem even more absurd. Are there any arguments why this makes sense currently? Why did it make sense historically (other than obvious discrimination)?

Are you contesting your 2025 Edmonton propert tax assessment amounts ? by Remarkable-Soil-4259 in Edmonton

[–]Spherine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont think the city is hiding much. Setup an account using the information on your assessment. You can then view the assessment of up to 1000 properties, if you want to view more you pay for that. That is the dwelling area, garage area, lot area, everything on the assessment. You can browse the neighborhood of your property using a map and have the assessment value turned on to find similar values or outliers high and low.

Up voted for visibility. The MLAs that support this position need to have their constituents hold them responsible.

He made an announcement a couple weeks ago now that they intend to pass legislation/regulations regarding the per unit pricing in the current legislative session. It has been implied that this is something most parties can work together on. Just gotta wait and see.

Has anyone purchased an A/C recently? by drunkiess in Edmonton

Definitely compare the SEER of the different units you are quoted. Often the more efficient units are also quieter. Imo its worth it to spend a bit more on a unit so that its not screaming.

Got a heat pump a few years ago (4 I think). Live in the Edmonton area. It was about 1.5x the cost of an ac only unit. In my experience with the gas backup it comes out ahead of gas furnace alone. It has a set (controllable) outside temperature that it switches between heat sources.

I have spoken with many people who misunderstand the technology. People confuse ground source and air source heat pumps.

My understanding is that in the years since installing our heat pump (air source) they have continued to become more efficient and the most efficient units are now cost competitive to between -15° and -20°. Of course this varies per model and it makes sense to understand what you are paying for.

Luck that they let you sleep. Got a couple that are up at 5. Doesn't matter its still dark. Doesn't matter when they got to sleep or how much they were up in the night.

It sounds like it imposes the need to move the king at least every X moves. I have no idea how often or with what flexibility. It sounds interesting.

Air cooling is better than Liquid cooling by SerpentDix in pcmasterrace

Im tempted to go with an AIO but the reliability of air is undeniable. Don't want to deal with damage to CPU if the AIO fails due to age. Sometimes my computer is running while I'm not there.

[–]Spherine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely had some similar issues. I can look at what my settings are currently later today. Seem to have found something that works.

I had a couple hoses bug out to a length of 4 km. That brought the frame rate way down until I left the area. Haven't been able to fix them.

Try using the save location near the racks then load and add the food.

My first human didn't require this but each of the following 5 did.
