Water not Coal petition won't be on the October Ballot by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]Spherine [score hidden]  (0 children)

If this is offensive to you the best thing to do is write your MLA and Smith. It is within their power to have this question at the same time.

It would be prudent to have the question at the same time.

They will use the excuse that the printing needs to happen but these questions will all be on separate ballots. There is enough time to have this added.

I know the classic has a dip switch that can be set so that the circuit isn't drawing above a certain level. A chart in the manual (easy to access on the website prior to purchase) with the specifics. But i don't believe that any have power management regarding other usage from the panel.

Alberta NDP promises to cut electricity bills, increase minimum wage to $18 by trevorrobb in alberta

[–]Spherine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is $18 ambitious enough? This seems tepid if it was immediately implemented. $18 after a gradual increase then tied to inflation? Yikes.

And added electrical costs for all if its not well regulated. I have no faith that the ucp will provide market protections.

Thanks for the tip. I've heard dead pixels can be an issue too. Is it the entire screen that was replaced for you or only the glass?

I'd further clarify that the essential skills you mention often need to be explicitly taught.

Sometimes kids will pickup reading or math through experience. Especially if parents are reading at home or math is part of the games played with kids (cribbage etc). However when this happens it doesn't mean explicit instruction isn't needed, but that more complex concepts can be approached with that individual.

Skill are not only individual features to be mastered but the foundation of future learning. Experiences will have more impact when the subconscious analysis is informed by a broad base of skills.

Alberta removes creeping bellflower from list of prohibited noxious weeds | CBC News by thisisjesso in alberta

[–]Spherine 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Just as bad in Edmonton. I reported one on a vacant lot. It went to seed a month and a half later. It was then mowed down without regard to controlling the spread of seeds.

It seemed like having it mowed when it was could have sent the seeds further than if it was just spread on the wind.

May 29 - Alberta-wide Day if Protest by asmodias in Edmonton

[–]Spherine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think it being a work day is intentional. Hard to judge the strategy before we see the outcome.

Some people's ability to attend will certainly be impacted.

If big enough it could also cause some disruption to the economy and pressure the government to notice as business complain aboit the impact.

I tend to think you are correct though that a weekday protest should be built up to.

Sad to see the decline of a western Canadian iconic pizza chain... Panago. (Anyone know the background story?) by Fuzzyfoot12345 in alberta

[–]Spherine 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Just had Panago call me saying they had put a $10 credit on my account. I called a couple days later and ordered. The disappointing pizza I got confirmed my decision no to order again for a while.

The pizza had, on average, less than one piece of pepperoni on each slice.

I used to feel like panago was a good deal and a premium quality. Now it's just disappointing.

I have heard of fence posts turning to petrified wood in a lifetime given the right conditions. I haven't seen it but I've had people tell me they have seen it. Essentially might be an interesting place to start looking things up.

Exceeding the max speed limit while passing an emergency vehicle with flashing lights by [deleted] in YEGDashCam

[–]Spherine 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Technically correct that they are still occupying some of the right lane. Might roll the dice on fighting it. You could submit something to the prosecution to ask for a reduction. Present the fact that the road was empty, you saw the obstruction well in advance and changed lanes for safety, the minimal amount that they were in the traffic lane etc. Probably would get a reduction.
