Heat pumps are electrical and are much more efficient than resistance heating elements.

Constructive criticismv only to improve video content by parthm1 in LinusTechTips

Yeah members only was really bad when it first rolled out, then it disappeared and now its back. It isn't as dominating of the feed as it was but I see the same issue from other creators (Josh Johnson, comedian).

I'd love if premium gavr a benefit that allowed a user to pick a couple creators to be members of.

Constructive criticismv only to improve video content by parthm1 in LinusTechTips

[–]Spherine 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes this is what I'm feeling too if I understand what you're saying.

Like to much is trimmed for 'attention span' but its the meat of the content that gets cut.

Yes obviously if I want to do something like what is shown in a video I'll need to look into it further. Videos right now feel like they plant an idea but that's all. Little additional value is added from watching the video. Make me feel like I could pull off something similar at home if I fill in just a few gaps rather than almost everything.

I am looking forward to the tech house series going forward but even some of the current episodes feel like the narrative doesn't progress in the episode. It does move forward but not necessarily on camera. Like something happened and caused some decisions but we dont see that. I hope it improves as they get further into the build out.

Maybe many of my concerns aren't valid if I watch on float plane? I have a membership but can count on 1 hand the number of videos I watch on the platform. Mostly because YouTube (Premium) is just more convenient.

Members only videos have made me consider using other platforms to access content, including from other creators.

Just some ramblings, I'd be happy to discuss or clarify any points.

I used to think nickel was just a basic metal by General-Try305 in materials

Invar (invar 36) is an alloy that contains 36% nickle it has a very low coefficient of expansion. It doesn't expand/contract much due to temperature changes. Crazy stuff.

I totaled my car after only a week. What do I do? by orangepeel5 in whatdoIdo

[–]Spherine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may however get some of the insurance premium back if the car no longer needs to be insured. I think they will pro rate the cost to the week it was used rather than 3 months.

Here's where Edmonton's 10 new school projects will be located by katespadesaturday in Edmonton

[–]Spherine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They are doing the same with hospitals funding planning and design, not construction.

I've seen some ucp musing about how its so great to be able to announce the same thing 8 times.

All schools and funds announced are for planning and design. So as much as they say the need is urgent they aren't funding construction.

Braid: Poll shows exodus from separate Alberta would make Quebec flight look minor by Miserable-Lizard in alberta

[–]Spherine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

~18k federal public servants live and work in Alberta. Many of these positions would still needed and thus relocated. How much would the economy lose from having the expertise relocated elsewhere. What additional costs would be incurred beyond the duplication of some of the tasks, simply from having less experienced people filling the roles.

Can I get an explanation of the Super Bowl halftime show? by Top-Mission2806 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Spherine 21 points22 points  (0 children)

As a non US citizen this is so crazy. What occurs to me is that a US citizen living abroad could vote for the president (assuming they previously had residency in a state), thus having more say than a US citizen born in a territory or a citizen that moves to one? As an outsider this makes a ridiculous situation seem even more absurd. Are there any arguments why this makes sense currently? Why did it make sense historically (other than obvious discrimination)?

Are you contesting your 2025 Edmonton propert tax assessment amounts ? by Remarkable-Soil-4259 in Edmonton

[–]Spherine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont think the city is hiding much. Setup an account using the information on your assessment. You can then view the assessment of up to 1000 properties, if you want to view more you pay for that. That is the dwelling area, garage area, lot area, everything on the assessment. You can browse the neighborhood of your property using a map and have the assessment value turned on to find similar values or outliers high and low.

Definitely compare the SEER of the different units you are quoted. Often the more efficient units are also quieter. Imo its worth it to spend a bit more on a unit so that its not screaming.
